Asus Mobo startup issue cannot POST

Gais, just sharing an issue which has haunted me for almost 1 year with a gap in between no issue and it returned. Finally I manage to find workaround to prevent this issue but I never really get the rootcause.

What is the issue:
PC cannot POST and right after boot up, the White LED at Mobo will light on permanently with 1 long beep and 3 short beeps. If check for troubleshooting tips, the White LED is referring to the GPU related issue.

What I did to troubleshoot:
- Swap GPU
- Swap CPU
- Swap PSU
- Swap RAM
- Change Display Cable from HDMI to DP and also change new DP cable

When all the above did not work, I go to Asus and got an RMA replacement approved. Then I got my new Mobo and after that the problem disappear for a few months (maybe 4 months plus or so?)
Then the issue come back and I cannot boot up my PC again, so I request for RMA again and Asus again approved my RMA.

So now I got my 2nd mobo replacement, and unfortunately this time, the issue start to appear faster instead of waiting a few months.

And thankfully, I manage to find a workaround now that will help me continue to use my PC. Basically every time after I shut down my PC, i need to completely turn off the power (either from PSU button or just off from 13A power plug). If I do this, the boot up issue no longer appear. But the moment I leave my PC connected to power after shutdown, this issue will come back again.

So now it has been this way, every time i shut down my PC, i have to completely turn off the power supply as well. It has been working stable like this for months.

https://streamable.com/n20b8u

Display Issue - QLED white light at Mobo

Hi everyone, I need help here. So here's my problem and it started today. my PC was running fine easily past few weeks.

It started with white LED at mobo showing and there's 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps then nothing at all, PC cannot boot to Windows. Black screen only. From google, it says it's related to graphics/VGA problem. So I started my troubleshooting.

- Remove GPU and reinstall the GPU > Same issue
- Change GPU to old 1070 GPU > Same issue

Then I bring to PC Shop 1st time and strangely when plug in everything works as normal. so I came back home and setup my PC again and then basically same thing happen again, white LED, the beeeps and nothing happens.

Then I bring to PC shop again 2nd time and now after reboot a few times, manage to show this white LED issue at PC shop. The shop technician help to troubleshoot and find out that when consistently not plugging in display cable, the white LED will appear with the Beeps. But when he start to plug in display cable, the computer will boot up smoothly without white LED even showing.
He did this consistently via GPU and also via Motherboard display port (to try check if it's GPU problem). The thing is, both GPU and also the motherboard, whenever no display cable connected, then it will have white LED and beep.

So the PC shop technician suggest to me that maybe it is my cable issue.

So I came back home. Try using my old cable (this is a less than 1 years old uGreen DP cable), same issue. White LED -> beep.
Changed to another different DP cable (original Dell cable) and still same issue. Then i try to plug in to motherboard display and same issue.

But then suddenly after a few times, suddenly now my monitor can display BUT this time, the white LED and beep still happens, but my PC proceed to boot up as normal. And even as I am using my PC now, the white LED still turn on at the motherboard.

I have tried using 2 different Gfx, 2 differrent cables.

Can I now assume it's motherboard issue?

P/S: i have tested with another monitor. Same issue now. White LED light up. Beep as well. But manage to boot into windows too.

NAS solution for streaming movies

Hi peeps,

Today I have a Sony TV and for now I am using my USB to connect to the TV and then use my TV app to playback the movies.

My home is also fully wired for LAN/network internet connection. I am thinking of having NAS and then maybe can use my TV to access via network and play the movie from streaming to my NAS.

Is this possible? If yes, can anyone suggest which one is easiest for me to plug and play or with the least setup knowledge possible assuming I am not that tech savvy when it comes to setting up networking.

Currently I am just using a network switch to connect to all my rooms for LAN connection, basically it is also just plug and play.

Thank you!

Good Interior Design for Penang

Just sharing my review for those who needs Interior Design service in Penang. I purposely hold my review until I really confirm this guy is really good only I write here.

Design Phase:
I started engaging Songsong Design based on referral from friends and we met up first and basically I told him the idea that I wanted. Basically my house is a double storey terrace. He also visited the house to get measurement. Then we go through a rough idea on what I wanted for my home overall. After a while, he showed me the first proposal of the design. What I recall is for ground floor, I am very happy with it but for top floor room, basically I rejected all of the design and ask him to change. He duly obliged and redo the design and after that only looks so much better. During this period, if I have any small changes that I wanted, he will definitely redo for me and also provide his suggestion to me based on his experience. As I don't have much experience in home deco and renovation design, basically I listen to him most of the time as long as the visual/outcome fits what I wanted. I really appreciate most of his thoughtfulness and suggestions because if he just continue to accept what I want, then I think the outcome will not be good because as someone not experience in reno, most of the decision I made will be purely based on aesthetic and not practicality so this is where he step in and provide his expertise and opinions. I remember going through many changes especially my home office room design but in general I think we took about 2.5 to 3 months to finalize the design. Once the design is finalized, he will help to source for quotation for me and from my side I also get some quotation from friends and roughly compare. I find that his pricing is also quite ok and I cannot really complain much.

Renovation Phase:
This is the part where I felt happy I engaged with ID because I realized there is so many interactions between different teams here. Wet work, aluminium, plumbing, electrician, carpentry and others. All of the works conducted here need to be coordinated and I am sure if I had done it alone, it will be very messy and gone haywire. So basically my ID handles all of this. There will be mistakes or something missed out and he will ensure all these are fixed. The only part I remember where I got very frustrated is the delay. The carpentry team got people left and ended up understaffed so my renovation got delayed because of this. But otherwise, all the workmanship is satisfactory and the outcome of the renovation is almost very similar to the 3D drawing during the design phase.

Post Renovation:
This is the reason why I hold off my review first because after the renovation is completed, there were some water leaking issues and it took quite a while to be solved but eventually it ended up as nothing major and as of today, I can say that whatever issue there is post renovation, my ID is responsible enough to make sure he asked his people to come and fix the issue even after I have made full payment. This is where I appreciate most because it shows responsibility and trustworthy.

One more thing, my ID is a super responsive and patient person, nice guy here so I am pretty sure you will be happy when you deal with him.

I think he is not that active in social media but you can see some of his works here:
https://www.instagram.com/songsongdesign/

Sharing is caring. Note: I did not earn anything at all from this, my review is purely voluntary on my own. Cheers!

What to do if TNB did not issue bil?

Hello...i have a weird problem here...it seems that TNB guy who is supposed to come to my house to read my meter and issue the bill...stop doing so for 2 months already.

Usually by 30th or end of month, I will get my electricity bill but now missed for May and June also.

For month of May...i need to keep on chase and follow up until June 15th only someone come and read my meter and issue May bil. The problem is, my bil become expensive because the usage also counted in additional 15 days in June, and end up i need to pay more due to higher amount charged for higher block of electricity usage.

Now June, also start to miss again. I already submit email help to TNB careline but the response has been slow. At first ask me take picture of my own meter. After that wait 1-2 more days and after i follow up, ask me to provide my phone number and now wait again...

Imagine now i have to chase and follow up for my TNB bill...what else I can do to escalate and complain this issue?

Thank you

Fake grass for dog

Hi dog lovers,

i need help. I adopted a puppy for nearly half year already and prevoiusly the puppy was inside my house but since he has already grown up now, I no longer allow him to stay indoor and he is at my front porch area now. I have a small lawn area and previously I planted pearl grass but now almost all died already because my dog pee haha...

So now my dog loves to dig and really gives me headache, basically i need to sweep my front porch area once or twice a day, or maybe more. I have tried to discipline him but I am not around all the time so usually my discipline happen after he dig so i think it's not working. i cannot monitor and only discipline him when he is digging.

Anyway, above is out of topic. My main topic or help needed here is anyone got recommendations for fake grass to install for dog so they cannot dig anymore? are all fake grass the same? So far i ask briefly, seems like i need to decide on the grass length only. But was never told if there are different quality or those who can withstand dog digging and damaging the fake grass. I tried to google, most article says can work for dogs. and should be able to last long.

Just wondering if any other dog owners here have fake grass installed and can share experience.

Thank you!

Spare parts availability- is that consumer right?

Gais... not sure if anyone expert in consumer right.

My situation is like this. I bought an item relatively new and just a few months old. Still got warranty also. Somehow due to carelessness I accidentally damage the item cosmetically. Basically it is a speaker and speaker grill damage. I send to service centre and was told can try to order but most likely no more spare part avaialble.

Is this something I can lodge a report to any place because vendor fail to provide spare part replacement? Consumer tribunal? Or kpdnkk?

Thank you. Feel sad item so new but cannot fix.

Dear sifus,

today just bought Kingston DataTraveler Exodia pen drive...and it seems that the max transfer speed I can achieve is only around 8MB/s... but when i try on my old USB3 external hdd, they seem to be way much faster.
Any idea why this is like this?

I bought from a reputable PC shop so i believe this should be original and not fake...

Dear experts,

So I moving to a new place and currently doing reno. I have already allocated each room with LAN wire connection upfront so now I am wondering how should my connection works.

Assume I am getting Unifi or Time. So how do I share my connection to the LAN ports (total 6 ports) and also I plan to have wifi mesh as well.

So from router, do I connect first to wifi mesh? then Mesh how do I setup the connection to all the LAN ports that I have?

Kinda noob here, appreciate inputs and suggestions which is kinda more to plug and play type rather than need to do a lof of technical settings.

Thank you!

Choosing the right fan

Dear sifus, I never realized for case fan, actually there are differences. In the past, I will just probably choose the fan based on size and see which one prettier (Eg. got LED light nice color. )

But now for example this Noctua fans, while i understand air flow, what is the static pressure referring to? Can anyone help to explain in layman term or explain in another way what it means?
Assuming if I want to add the fan for my PC casing, which one should I choose?

https://noctua.at/en/nf-a12x25-performance-...f12-and-nf-s12a

Many thanks and hope to learn something here.

Gais...i've tried google but i cannot really get the answer or confirmation so trying to ask here.

If I want to setup HTPC with atmos capability, do i need newer gfx or actually if I have old Gfx it will work too? As long as the connection is via HDMI?
Or actually it is not related to gfx and I just need to setup via Windows sound setup?

Basically what I have now is 12th Gen Intel proc, old Asus 1070 gfx card.
The rest i not yet buy, eg. mobo.

Assuming if I have a video file with Atmos, if I play via VLC, will it work if I connect my HTPC to an Atmos enable soundbar?

Thanks!

Dear experts here,

Can anyone help me confirm to give an estimated time required to do a full renovation for a double storey house?

This include wetworks and also full carpentry works for all room (4 rooms), living room and kitchen.

Initially my ID committed 3 months but now 6 months (by mid Dec) and not sure how fast can complete. I am almost certain will delay.

Thanks!

Specific game having issue on audio and video

Hi experts,

Last week my PC starting to have this issue and seems to be particularly Valorant game only with this audio glitch and also video glitch.
I am attaching the video for both audio and also video during gameplay.

I have tried other games like WWZ, FIFA 22 and they all worked fine. Updated all drivers as well but issue seem to be the same. I have reformat my PC and reinstalled Windows from fresh and also same issue as well.

What else can I try to troubleshoot? Or just give up on this game

I tried FURMARK, and Heaven UNIGENE benchmark and they looks ok also without any artefacts found on the video so i don't think it's the graphics card.

https://vimeo.com/741324717

https://vimeo.com/741324498
