Motorbike Year Made

I'm going to get my 1st bike, which is Kawasaki z650.
My question is, how to know which year the bike is made since we don't see the green card first? The color for 2017 and 2018 are same.
I'm scared that the shop will lie about the motor year made. I told him I want a 2018 one.
He said need to see, normally 2017 he said. Please help me on this. Really important.
