Linksys AM300 ADSL Modem

I'm not sure if this is the reight place to seek help but I think it's related to Networks and Broadband thread. If not, could the moderators be kind to point me to the correct place.

I've recently lost my Streamyx connection in my Windows XP. Just disappeared when I restart my PC. I tried to do a new connection. I went into the Welcom to The New Connection Wizard, choose the Connect to the Internet, followed by Set up my connection manually. When I get to the next step, under How do you want to connect to the Internet?, there's supposed to be 3 choices for you to choose:
1) Connect using a dial-up modem
2) Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password
3) Connect using a broadband connection that is always on

However, choices no. 1 & 2 is to be disabled - only left with choice no. 3? Normally we would choose the second choice for Streamyx. What has happened to the options? Is my PC being infected by virus?

Now I'm left with only choice no. 3. Should I re-install my Windows XP without formating my C drive? If I re-install without formating, will my installed programmes still work after that?

Another problem:
Now is the problem with the Linksys AM300. Since I dare not re-install XP, I decided to purchase this modem since it has the "Always On" function. I hooked it up and it works just fine - surfing wasn't a problem but my AntiVIR antivirus can't seem to connected to the internet to get the updates. How do I configure it to allow it to download updates? First time using a router modem.

Secondly, my uTorrent can't seem to connect as well. Can anyone help me here?

Mouse became a Crazy Fly!

I just bought a new Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 (USB) & GIGABYTE Laser Mouse - GM R03 recently. Anyone used any of them before?

Keyboard Questions:
1) How come the Microsoft keyboard doesn't work if I plug into the PS2 using a mouse USB-PS2 connector?

2) Is there such a USB-PS2 converter connector specifically meant for Keyboard?

3) Does it means this keyboard will ONLY work when connected to USB port?

Mouse Question:
How come this mouse mutated into a crazy fly? I mean keeps moving around like a Crazy Fly without me physically moving mouse?? I even tried connecting it to the PS2 port from the included USB-PS2 convertor connector but still a crazy fly. What's happening?

Is there an I/O conflict between the Microsoft keyboard & the GIGABYTE laser mouse?

Also, with these 2 new peripherals plugged in, seems like my Gamepad has gone haywire as well.

I tried playing Fifa06 but couldn't because at the game menu, the cursor (not the mouse arrow) keeps moving up thru the list on the menu! I couldn't choose anything. Luckily was still able to control the mouse cursor to click the EXIT.

Can anyone please help me out?

I noticed that it is a "System File" type - that mean should not be deleted. But what's its function? Why is it such a big file? 2GB??

Is there any way to reduce the file size?

Anyone have any idea why a DVD single layer disc which clearly states its capacity is 4.7GB but when using Nero, the capacity detected is something less than 4.5GB.

Questions:
1) What happened to the remaining 0.2GB or so???
2) Is there anyway to over come this to get the maximum disc capacity?
3) Could it be a DVD burner's issue?
PLEASE HELP! Can't connect to the Internet!

PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm facing some problem with my connection to STREAMYX. There was a freak storm the other day and the lightning fried my built-in 10/100 LAN even though I did not turn on my PC. Luckily it did not fry my motherboard. My motherboard is Abit NF7-S.

I realized that the lightning had fried my LAN because there was not light activity at both the LAN adapter from the motherboard and the modem. So I went to buy myself a D-Link DFE-528TX network card. Installed the card & driver. It worked. But here's the problem I'm facing right now - I can't get connected to the Internet!!!

I thought it could be the ADSL modem - fried by the lightning too. Changed another working ADLS modem but the same problem too - can't get connected to the Internet. Doubled checked the TCP/IP settings. Everything was in order - DNS server address all in order. However, the message keeps popping up at the LAN connection icon in taskbar:
QUOTE

This connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. For more information, click this message.

When I click on the balloon, it opened up my Local Area Connection Status window with this message under Connection Status:

QUOTE

You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign network address to the computer.

What do you mean by that message??? I've been using STREAMYX with the same settings with "Obtain an IP address automatically" for so long but have not encountered that message before. I even tried the clicking the Repair button but the same happened.

Is this problem happening because of the built-in LAN?
