HELP: Lightroom Slow Photo Loading

Guys,

I've installed LR 4.2 recently.

Everytime I click on a preview on the bottom panel, the photo becomes fully loaded i.e. looks sharp very slowly i.e. 5 seconds.

It takes the same amount of time to be fully zoomed in till its sharp too.

The following are the specs of my pc:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+

4 GB RAM

GPU - ASUS EAH 4540

Windows Ultimate 7

What could be the factor slowing down the process?

I'm baffled because an older version of LR that runs on my IBM T43 laptop, which is at least 7 years old, loads so much faster for the same photo resolution.

Dear gurus of PDAs,

I'm torn btw Dopod D810 and ASUS P535. I shall list my likes and dislikes and see what you guys think.

Dopod D810:

Likes:
1) Multi features in one i.e. DECENT cpu @ 400Mhz, 3G, Camera, GPS, 360 scrollwheel (I doubt i'll use 3G in the near future, no killer apps yet)
2) Has "Windows Start" and "OK" buttons, which is convenient to have.
3) vibrant screen colors
4) Buttons are generally nicer to press

Dislikes:
1) Camera no macro and flash function
2) No voice adjusting level buttons
3) Stylus silo on bottom, inconvenient for a lefty
4) CPU not as fast as P535 (but still decent lah)

ASUS P535

Likes:
1) GREAT CPU speed @ 520mhz (and more memory too 256MB instead of 128)
2) Slightly cheaper than D810
3) Apparently has better GPS chipset BUT won't affect me much as I doubt i'll use it often though it'll be nice to hv it working quickly when i actually use it.
4) Camera has Auto Focus, Flash and Macro

Dislikes:
1) No "Windows Start" button
2) Buttons not as nice to press
3) Screen not as vibrant
4) No 3G

IF only the Dopod 818 Pro has faster CPU, then i wont have to be in this dilemma...anyway, do drop me your point of view. Appreciate it...thank you!
