Tint premium brand or top spec cap ayam?

Hi /k,

I want to tint my car, trying to decide between 2 options.

Go all out reputable one, I'd thought of 3M Crystalline.

Or for about half the price, get top spec cap ayam ones. Most tint shops that advertise this, they usually say it uses sputter film tech, with IRR claimed between 95 - 97%.

Which would you choose?

How sure he is nobody drives like in the challenge, the way they calculate cannot be a lie. Pretty sure they use the 'start with full tank, reset trip meter then refill full tank again' method and calculate the distance/litre fuel used. NEDC is done in a lab (according to him), while this event done in real world, how to measure like in a lab?

Meanwhile how many P2 owners get 21km/L for their daily drive? Everyone? Huh?

Former Egypt president Morsi died in court

Nobody bukak tered about this news?

CAIRO: Egypt’s first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi, an Islamist who was ousted after one year of divisive rule, died after falling ill during a court hearing on Monday, the attorney general said. He was 67.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Morsi, also the country’s first civilian president, had been “animated” during a hearing in the retrial of an espionage case in which he was accused of collaborating with adverse foreign powers and militant groups, judicial and security sources said.

“The court granted him his request to speak for five minutes… He fell to the ground in the cage… and was transported immediately to the hospital. A medical report found… no pulse or breathing,” said the attorney general’s office.

“He arrived at the hospital dead at 4:50 pm exactly and there were no new, visible injuries found on the body.”

One of Morsi’s legal defence team described the moment he received news of his death.

“We heard the banging on the glass cage from the rest of the other inmates and them screaming loudly that Morsi had died,” the lawyer, Osama El Helw, told AFP.

Since Morsi’s overthrow on July 3, 2013, his former defence minister now President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has waged an ongoing crackdown, targeting his supporters from the Muslim Brotherhood with thousands jailed and hundreds facing death sentences.

‘Killing him slowly’

A judicial source said Morsi had fainted during a break in the trial hearing.

The court officials “had just finished the session for the espionage case and they informed the judge that he had fainted and needed to be transported to a hospital where he later died,” he told AFP.

Abdelmoneim Abdelmaksoud, another of Morsi’s lawyers, was unable to say where his body was and when his funeral would be held.

“He (Morsi) wanted to be buried where he hailed from originally. However, this isn’t really up to the family but for the powers that be,” he told AFP.

Morsi last saw his family in September 2018 and a month later one of his sons, Abdallah, was arrested.

Abdelmaksoud was the last member of his defence team to see the former Islamist president, back in November 2017.

The Brotherhood’s political wing – the Freedom and Justice Party – accused Egyptian authorities of “deliberately killing him slowly”.

They “put him in solitary confinement… they withheld medication and gave him disgusting food… they did not grant him the most basic human rights,” it said in a statement.

In a strongly worded statement, Amnesty International on Monday called on Egyptian authorities to open a probe into Morsi’s death.

“The Egyptian authorities must immediately order an impartial, thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances of his death, as well as his detention conditions and his ability to access medical care,” the rights group said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a strong ally of Morsi during his brief tenure as Egypt’s leader, paid tribute to the “martyr”.

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas also hailed Morsi’s influence.

‘Premature death’

Internationally he may have received some support but in his homeland Morsi’s chequered legacy is still condemned.

Following the news of his death, Egyptian television channels went into feverish overdrive labelling the Brotherhood a “terrorist group” and playing a looping tagline of “The Brothers are liars”.

Morsi spent just one turbulent year in office after the 2011 uprising. He was toppled in a military overthrow after millions took to the streets demanding his resignation.

The Islamist leader has been in prison since his ouster on trial for several cases including for spying for Iran, Qatar and militant groups such as Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Morsi was also accused of plotting terror acts.

He was sentenced to death in May 2015 for his role in jailbreaks during the uprising that ousted his predecessor, longtime autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

A group of British parliamentarians in March 2018 warned in a report that his detention conditions had not met international standards and could lead to his “premature death”. Other Brotherhood leaders have also died in custody.

The years following Morsi’s overthrow have seen a surge in bombings and shootings targeting security forces, particularly in the restive northern Sinai Peninsula, a stronghold of the Islamic State (IS) group.

Morsi’s turbulent rule was marked by deep divisions in Egyptian society, a crippling economic crisis and often-deadly opposition protests.

His death comes only days before Egypt is set to host the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament from Friday.

Authorities have been on high alert for any security breaches noting in an interior ministry Facebook post published Wednesday that thousands of forces would be deployed to secure venues.

https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...g-ill-in-court/

Partnership tax computation

Hi all,

How to do partnership tax computation with below situation :

4 partners start a business at start of year, but only 2 officially registered in SSM record. In Sept, 1 left while the other 2 unregistered starts register. On 31.12.2018, only 3 partners left.

A - reg in Jan, left in Sep
B - reg in Jan
C - reg in Sep
D - reg in Sep

They agreed to distribute profit equally at all time.

Jan - Sep, Oct - Dec
A 25%, -
B 25%, 33.3%
C 25%, 33.3%
D 25%, 33.4%

How to calculate profit sharing among the partners to fill up Form P and Form B? I thought the computation will only see 3 partners as at 31.12.2018, so partner B, C and D would bear 33% of profit Jan - Dec.

But it will be tricky to tell the partners, they'd be like "but I joined 3 months only, how come I bear the whole year profit sharing?" Then there is the complication of partner C and D only registered with SSM in Sep when they've been around since Jan.

Help anyone? Got ITA section or public ruling guidance on calculating profit sharing calculation is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Want to ask : tax on return on investment

Hi all,

I have a friend whose company invested in a subsidiary many years ago, let's say he invested rm1,000.

Back in 2015, he closed down the subsi, all the cash and properties were transferred to his company. Let's say he got rm11,000 cash and rm10,000 land & building (l&b). Double entry would be :

Dr cash 11,000
Dr fixed asset (l&b) 10,000
Cr investment in subsi 1,000
Cr other income - gain on investment 20,000

1. Is this rm20,000 taxable? It looks like capital gain, so i think it isn't.

2. Transferring the l&b to his company from the subsi, it is subject to RPGT? Assuming they were purchased many years ago for rm1,000, is the gain rm9k subject to RPGT?

Thank you in advance.

Totally worth it?

Chinese man disabled for life after selling kidney to buy iPhone
Source: Oddity Central
Date: 09-01-2019 Time: 08:01:48:am

Xiao Wang was only 17 years old when he decided to sell one of his kidneys in order to buy the iPhone 4 he couldn’t otherwise afford.

After the operation Wang was told he was going to have a normal life with just one kidney, but almost eight years on, the 24-year-old is permanently disabled and dependent on dialysis.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Back in 2011, the iPhone 4 was Apple’s flagship smartphone and a status symbol at Xiao Wang’s school in Chengzhou, China.

However, he came from a poor family who couldn’t afford to buy him the trendy gadget, so he decided to sell one of his healthy organs in order to get his hands on enough money to buy the coveted device.

With help from a middleman, Wang got in touch with shady characters who specialized in trading organs on the black market and agreed to sell one of his kidneys for 22,000 yuan ($3,200), more than enough to buy the iPhone 4 he so badly desired.

Unfortunately, this foolish decision would completely ruin his life.

The 17-year-old figured that he only needed one of his kidneys to survive and the dubious doctor he met before the operation confirmed that he would be able to lead a normal life with just one of his organs.

The procedure was carried out in an illegal hospital in Chenzou, and even though it was considered a success at the time, health complications arose soon after.

“Unfortunately, the operating environment wasn’t sanitized properly, which led to an infection on his wound,” Oriental Daily recently reported.

“Worse still, Wang’s family were kept in the dark about his kidney removal operation and only found out about it when the teen couldn’t hide his health problems any longer.”

Because he didn’t dare tell his parents what he had done (and what for), the infection spread to his remaining kidney, and by the time his family took him to a proper hospital for treatment, the damage to his kidney was so severe that the only possible way to ensure his survival was permanent dialysis.

Xiao Wang has spent most of his life since then in bed, dependent on the dialysis machine that’s keeping him alive but at the same time greatly shortening his life-span.

After hearing Wang’s story about how he sold his kidney on the black market to buy an iPhone 4, his parents tracked down and sued the middleman and the doctor who performed the operation.

They eventually received a sizable compensation of 2.2 million yuan ($320,000) most of which has been spent on the 24-year-old’s expensive treatments and drugs.

It’s unclear if Xiao Wang ever got to buy that iPhone he traded his kidney for, or if he still has it. Not that any of that matters, anyway.

I guess the moral of the story is that very few things are worth risking your life for, and an Apple iPhone is definitely not on the list.

https://www.myjoyonline.com/news/2019/janua...-buy-iphone.php

Can mbpj saman be cancelled?

For the past year i parked my car at surrounding pj highway centre area, many cars park there, never got summoned before.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ksqsf

Suddenly yesterday kena, ccb, not even protruding into main road, just neatly park like everyone else. Don't know if others also kena, by the time i go back, left me only, but saman was written at noon time, so there still must be other cars parked orderly like mine.

How likely can i successfully appeal to cancel the saman? Should've taken a photo, but i didn't, shit.

Sharp or Xiaomi air purifier?

They both seem to work differently.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sharp-pl...QpLpUu&search=1
From my understanding, Sharp releases negative and positive ion to kill the bacteria, dust etc.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/xiaomi-s...3EGHrh&search=1
While Xiaomi just straightforward filter up to PM2.5 micron.

Xiaomi pricier, but maybe I don't mind topping up a bit if it's better, maybe can recommend other air purifier within that budget? My room small, entry level 20m2 thereabout is ok for me.

I need your wisdom, /k, thank you.

Harvey Norman extend warranty for washing machine

I was checking out Samsung front load washing machine 9kg with new Quick Drive feature, Harvey Norman can offer it for rm2.6k.

Its general warranty is 1 year only, if topup rm770 can become 5 years.

Is it worth topping up? It can cover for example the circuit board. If 3rd time claim warranty, they can offer 1-to-1 exchange.

I know parts like circuit board can be costly to replace after 1 year warranty, so it feels like having extended warranty can give peace of mind. The salesman made it sound claiming from them is a breeze, is it really so? Or they always find excuse to taichi to user problem, so have to pay ownself for all.

How much do a modern front load's circuit board cost btw?

Apple will give fast charger in box!

"The new power brick will also charge at a higher wattage. ChargerLab says that the new brick will push 18Watts – more than three times higher than the current 5Watt charger found in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X box. Plus, the brick will be smaller than last year, with a more rounded design."

https://www.lowyat.net/2018/162468/future-a...ers-in-the-box/

Integrity bukan budaya kita

So I've observed and concluded the above, we as a nation don't seem to care about integrity.

When Najib got investigated by DoJ, nobody seem to care except for the few voices from opposition and netizens, but all completely drowned by the sound of silence and ignorant of the rest. Go to kampung, what is 1MDB? Read the govt's response, all say it's secret, all protek MO1 kaw2. Question it, and you become Muhyiddin Yassin, kicked out.

Recently on fb, a macai praised Najib for all the rail developments he brought, the MRT, LRT extension etc, as well as future plans eg ECRL, HSR, MRT2, MRT3, LRT3 etc. He argued we should support Najib because of these developments, and apparently, he is not some cina bukit, he's very well educated, graduate in UK, seems to be a practicing lawyer here.

And now TMJ seems to have interest in maintaining status quo by attacking the only threat to it, and got very personal about it, when he's supposed to be apolitical.

All these have raised common question in my head : where is your integrity? Is it not important to protect our country's integrity by not electing a man who had acted in very shady manner, a man without integrity? When [@se7en] reported about data breach, the govt never demonstrated serious concern on our data's security, nothing is resolved yet, the culprit yet to be brought to justice.

Integrity is very foundation of trust, if want a functional govt, it is most basic to have someone we can trust on, that is what it means to be a leader with integrity.

But even people in /k doesn't seem to stress on its importance. Instead of seeing that we need to change the current leader as absolute no.1 periority at all cost, we dwell on the past mistakes of Dr M. We got our priority wrong, as seen in [@SonnyCool]'s thread.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4559010

I now feel we even have less right to criticize the govt after this. Who are the rakyat to say so? A rakyat with integrity? Or without?

Sekian, /k is my blog.

Samsung S9 to have stereo speakers

https://www.soyacincau.com/2018/01/12/samsu...ked-spec-sheet/

"An interesting surprise is its stereo speakers that are tuned by AKG. Manufacturers like HTC, Huawei, Apple and Sony have stereo speakers on their flagship smartphones which are clearly better than one loudspeaker. It is likely Samsung will go with an earpiece + down-firing speaker combo, similar to HTC’s Boom Sound HiFi-Edition speakers."

Also, the rear camera has Super Speed Dual Pixel with f/1.5 aperture and super slow-mo, could it be 1,000fps rumoured before?
