Sneak Peak - Samsung 9 Series (Launching 17/3/11)

Firstly i do not work for Samsung. We were given the demo unit to photograph and being techies ourself we gave some of our opinions on the product. I wanted to share with everyone here.

Samsung will be launching the world's thinnest and lightest notebook on March 17th in Malaysia. Some of you may have read about it before. It's the 9 Series. This goes head to head with the Macbook Air. The price will be announced at launching but i believe it should be competitive with the macbook air.

Holding it for the first time the unit feels solid yet very light, it's made of Duralumin, typically found in advanced aircrafts and offers construction quality twice as durable as aluminum. The design is sleek with nice curves. The minute i got it i said i have to get one. Now, i'm primarily a MacOS user but i do have a windows desktop. So for those who want to look for windows macbook air equivalent this is it.

The ports on the side can be opened when needed and closed when not in use. The keypad is illuminated so using it in low light is not a problem.

Holding it in my hands it's very light, on the spec sheet it's actually lighter than the macbook air. Ladies can put this in your handbag, don't need a laptop bag The battery lasts 6.5 hours and it comes with a Solid State Drive (SSD) just like the macbook air.

Here are the key specs

•	CPU: Second Generation Intel® CoreTM i5 Processor 2537M (1.40 GHz, 3MB; turbo up to 2.3 GHz)
•	Operating System: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 bit) / Windows® 7 Professional (64 bit)
•	Memory: 4GB DDR3
•	Storage (max): 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
•	Screen: 13.3-inch HD LED-backlit SuperBright Plus display (400 nit)
•	Resolution: 1366x768
•	Graphics: Intel HD GT2 Integrated Graphics
•	Speakers: 3 watt (1.5W x 2) stereo speakers and 1.5 watt sub-woofer
•	Battery: Lithium Polymer; up to 6.5 hours
•	Wireless: 802.11b/g/n; WiMax
•	Weight: 2.89 lbs.

For more pictures please visit our studio album here:

More Photos and Description Here (Facebook Album)<-- CLICK

Credits:
Thanks to Koon Ming (Samsung) for the unit and Johnson Lam (Midnite Studio) review excerpts.
