VB.NET - getParent Folder [Solved]

Hi, i wanted to set my service-based database location to two level of parent folder of the application.executablePath

Following is my default coding where it access to the ExecutablePath
as ~ "C:\Users\Glen\Desktop\Cherry System\Cherry System\bin\DB.mdf"

CODE

path = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) & "\DB.mdf"
fullPath = "Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=" & path & ";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
mySQLConnection = New SqlClient.SqlConnection(fullPath)

I wanted to point the path to ... "C:\Users\Glen\Desktop\Cherry System\DATABASE\DB.mdf"
Anywhere can guide me ?

I have tried System.IO.Directory.GetParent ... but its doesn't work to something that i need.

P.S.
because the service-based DB may store into DVD or other location when i am presentation for my application.
thus, i hope to use System.IO to get two level back on parent folder, but it seem that is impossible to do so.
I looking for advise, please help, thanks~

Connect SQL Express 2008

I use NetBean 6.5 to connect database with SQL Express 2008.
I dont know if i done something wrong or its not support ... (new to making DB Connection)

Hi, i'm new to iPod.
Just had my Touch 2G, i like to know if the Touch 2G is able to jailbreak yet?

because i have seen in the youtube vidoe are able to jailbreak / jailbroken.
however, i was getting error, thus, i done some research.
Result tells that still do not have any 2G jailbreak available.

em someone can verify this story is truth or not? O_o

Hi , i got a question.
How do guys protect your touch from scratch ?

I am planning to use Invisible Shield + Slider Case
However, some review tell that Invisible Shield wont fit into Slider Case. Cause it's too tight.
But maybe front screen only??

Share with me or tell me your experience.
It can help me to decide what is good to protect my touch~

because i had it formatted and couldn't locate the driver.

I just bought a new Acer laptop.. 4935G (new model)

I would like to know, can i format the OS - Vista Home Premiere by using Vista Installation CD?
*why format? for some reason.

Then i heard the sales person said driver is not provides and will be hard to download.
Any idea for this ??

What my concern is... if i formatted but i do not have driver to work with the laptop's hardware.
Thus, anyone can provide me some information?
1. Can i really get the driver from online?
2. It will be 'impossible' to find driver for acer laptop?

Is this the sign of Display Card dying??
All these 3D are running out of shape ... its not just appear like that, it will crush BSOD or nvlddmkm error.

i aware of nvlddmkm error is an very popular problem appear in Nvidia Driver, it will have something to do with the problem appear to my 3D things?

I have bored up with WLM8.5 quite sometime..
Have been looking for the WLM9... but which is the "leak" version.

Today i came into this~ Official Beta (Public Beta version)
It looks really cool~ But i wanna to say ... it's not much update in WLM.

My gf pc is using a Wireless-USB Receiver to connect with her wireless router.
But she always complain to me the signal is like 50% and below. (poor signal quality)
So, i'm thinking to buy her a Wireless PCI-Receiver ... this one Linksys WMP54G (Support G and B)

someone know if using PCI-Receiver the signal quality will better than USB??

Hi guys, i am using Vista-SP1 [32-bits]
Today i tried to install an update of Nvidia v175.19 Driver for my GF-8500GT
But after reboot, logged into Windows... Monitor signal gone.

I have been trying from 12.30pm til now (4.30pm)
I found related topic from google, about this driver crush .. even the previous version.

So, anyone out they having the same problem like me??
and you have the solution?

I had this problem since yesterday, suddenly disconnected and cant connect it back
Have made a report to TM ... they said it's their port problem.. where the exchange to Perak had problem.
anywhere, does anyone actually having the same problem like me?

Today i can get online but! like 1 - 3hrs downtime, 5mins for you to get connected -.-"
Any news to share what is happening? Or anywhere experiencing this problem?

Hi guys, didn't know i got to ask you guys here SIGH!!

PC Spec.
WinVista SP1
Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.4GHz
DDRII - 3GB
Display - 8500GT 256MB

Security Suite
ZoneAlarm Security Suite - run only Firewall (AntiVirus & AntiSpyware Disable)
BitDefender Total Security 2008 - run only Antivirus, AntiSpam. (Firewall Disable)

Reason
ya sound weird huh, since both had the AV and FIREWALL why i pick them each -.-"
BDTS2008 had problem in the Firewall, which the setting of program rules is base-on IP ADDRESS, as you know we're using Dynamic IP in TM.
Everytime reconnect, the profile is change O_o mean i got to SET again the firewall rules for programs. (troublesome)
Thus, i use ZoneAlarm Firewall instead.

Problem.
when i turn on and run Xunlei (BT client) my processor performance turn 100% for 2-Cores constantly! x_x
do you guys know any solution to solve this problem?
If no Xunlei running, it is totally fine! O_O

What i have tried
1. Close ZoneAlarm leave BitDefender running (problem proceed)
2. Close Both ZoneAlarm and BitDefender (problem still proceed, doubt that BitDefender service still running)
3. Set Firewall rules in ZoneAlarm to allow any-port, PC IP + Router IP Source allow to ANY Destination. (problem proceed)
4. Close ZoneAlarm, use Windows Firewall is fine, but... once click on Vista Recommanded Firewall setting had the same problem (problem proceed)

UNINSTALL ZoneAlarm because it wont work great with BitDefender

Hi, i have done abit research about cleaning motherboard.
what i found that, using Vacuum will create Static Electricity and that will spoil the motherboard.

but when i try to find HAIR BLOWER, that got no answer in google.
it got result using leaf blower, air compressor to clean motherboard but no result with hair blower >.>

so anyone know if it's ok to use hair blower to clean motherboard?

As title ... sigh
I am new to DB-program, no friend know programming.
I have struggled on SQLConnection pointer for 1 day until i came this far ... *exhausted*
Really hope someone can give me advises and solutions to solve the "DataAdapter.Update(DataTable)"

The problem i having is update record to DB-File.
I am success in updating data into DataSet, but once program closed, Entry Gone.
I tried hard to use Adapter Update the Database Record from DataSet to DB-File (the code in bottom)
That code work for me, even program re-open the entry still exist, but it's not updating to DB-File too.
I also get error, and cant debug with Breakpoint.

I found DataAdapter method is the most easier way instead of using DataSet or BindingSource to Update the DB-File
Can help me out in Update using DataAdapter?

I found the reason, that is not coding problem, but the DB-FILE (MDF or SQL Express File) will overwriting the File which contain data.

Hi, i'm new to VB.NET, SQL and DB things.
I have few questions to ask x_x

#1
I have a Table name "employeeTable"
Table has the entities of ... "employeeID, employeeName, employeeAge, employeeSalary"
Which i have successfully make it display in the "DataGridView"

And i have made an Button name "viewButton", which i hope click on the "DataGridView" Row and Display the Corespond Data into a Windows Form.
the WindowsForm is "employeeForm"
I dont know how to make it work, i have tired many time x_x

I'm getting error of...
getInstance() in java.text.DateFormat cannot be applied to (int)
cannot find symbol method format(java.lang.String,java.lang.String,java.lang.String)

but for the getInstance() those data i didn't use any INT!!
could someone help out??
