Brief history:

Airbed and breakfast, or in short Airbnb, was founded by two design graduates from the Rhode Island School of Design. When their landlord decided to raise the rent for the apartment they were then living in, the two unemployed graduates who couldn't afford to pay for the new rent had come up with a solution to their problem. They created a temporary website called airbedandbreakfast.com and rented out their extra space to strangers they had just met online.

Then came the next problem: there weren't enough beds in the apartment for these guests arriving to spend the night in the apartment. Joe, who's one of the co-founders, came up with a brilliant idea to make use of the air beds which were used during his last camping trip for their guests. Both Brian and Joe also served breakfast in the morning, but since they couldn't afford it, it was then only cereals and milk.

This was how the name of the company Airbed and breakfast was incepted, and today, we have people listing their extra space in 35,000 cities and 190 countries in the world.
