Cannot initiate disk

So I did a search on the forum, doesn't seems to find anything related.

I have a old WD 120GB IDE 3.5" HDD, is been using for media storage with an external casing. So that said, it is always on USB connect to computers, and recently solely to the new media box (RMVB player). There was this one fine day, when I decided to watch some drama that has stored in the HDD, and the media box doesn't seems to SEE a HDD been connected.

I took out everything and such. Thought it was the casing malfunction, so I did buy a new one to replace. After all, then it was the HDD which is faulty, because when I plugged that into a vista computer, in Disk Management console, it sees the drive but it is not initiated. So I try to initiate it. then it prompts me "DRIVE NOT READY", thus it cannot be initiated. I try again to plug into a XP machine, is even worse because it doesn't sees any new device being plugged in.

I tried to google. To no rescue. I hope some member can shed some light on me to rescue the HDD. There are plenty of precious photos in it that I want to recover.

Story goes here:

A friend wanted to start a business but have not enough capital. Approximately need about 40K only. So the option is go for a bank loan.
Now personal loan, the maximum she eligible only 15k, probably. And business loan, most banks need at least six month of account statement to prove the credit history. That's what I was told by her.
She came to ask me, who don't know anything about this. She is passionate and she is so willing to repay ~1K-~1.3k/month for 4-5 years. Because, she is working full-time, and the business allows her to go part-time. So her wages actually can cover the loan repayment.

A close friend of mine, but I can't help. So, thought anyone out there can advise.

Upgrading RAM

I have an old laptop, Acer TravelMate 290 Series specifically. It is an more than 3 years old laptop but run decently.

So according to the specification it is running on a DDR SDRAM PC2100 266MHz. My question here is can I change the memory to a better, cheaper, newer DDR2, 333MHz or any better?

Can not connect to FTP

I just can't connect to any FTP server. I tried AceFTP Pro and SmartFTP, two clients. Both cannot connect, not any FTP server.

I am using AceFTP Pro all this while. Sometimes I do have this problem where I can not connect to any FTP server at all. I wonder it is a common issue or not.

No video playback on second display

I was trying to watch some video while doing works. So what I do is to connect my laptop to my TV via a S-video cable. I extended my display to the TV. Well, it looks good, till I try to play a video.

Video has no show on the TV at all. I am helpless, can't search much relevant info from Mr.Google.

My GPU is ATI Mobility Radeon X700. I hope someone can enlighten me. Thank you so much.

When I open in IE6, I click on the image, it show Error on Page at the bottom status bar. But it is alright for another browser that I am using, Flock. Why?

By the way, a transparency PNG image doesnt render as transparent in IE, but is ok for my Flock as well, there goes another WHY?

CGI enquiry

I ain't good, or do not even know much about programming, because simply I do not like them. However, I need it today. It was quite scary at the point when I need it but I do not know how.

Anyway, I am doing a simple project, building a website. It requires a page with fedback form, whereby it must be a flash interface. I have build the interface up, a draft/rough one for testing purposes.

My question here is, how do I link the SubmitBtn to some sort of CGI script, so that the filled form shall be email-ed to a designated email address?
I read some find out from UncleG (Google), it doesn't clarify much rather than confused me. Because those article are mostly if not all talking about an HTML form, whereby it will direct to another page if form submit and if required field did not fill up. But my case is, it is a flash. It will play Frame2/Frame3 after "on(release)"........if you understand.

random internet access disconnection

good day fellas.. here is the situation with the subject headed:

i have this internet access at home, which is Streamyx 512. i connect thru a ol skool aztech 305E then to a wireless access point(AP), linksys wap11. all other computer is conecting to internet via wireless, on this method.

remember 2 or before weeks, i did some port forwarding for Azureus, just to get the green icon to look good. then onwards, my internet access keep dropping, say after an 1hr. yesterday was even worst, not even 15minutes. when it is disconected, i restart the modem and AP, as both are plugged into same power point. i just switch it of n on it again. then it resumes. but after a while it get discoonected again.

remember some ppl were complaining the streamyx kep dropping randomly, i am not sure whether this is it o not, but somehow... i get very frustrated now.

advises i am seeking here...

probably i will just do a reset on the modem and re-configure the things again. but not if is help o not...
