installation problem

anyone can help me? i wanna to upgrade my old dell vostro 1400 to windows7. Whenever the copying is done, then appear a massage cannot detect any drive. I try to reinstall using xp and it can be done. meaning that, there is no any problem wif the hdd. So how to solve this problem. Pls help..

My old system couldn't start

I have a few problems before the system couldn't start anymore rite now. It was began few weeks ago when I changed my failure psu to the new cap ayam one. After a few days, my beloved graphic card His 9600xt failed/kong. I bought new one the agp palit 9800gxt gc and put it in my system. The system ran smoothly for few weeks. Then I encountered a new problem wif my CMOS. Every time I switch on my system, there was an error massage 'The cpu is unworkable or has been changed. Please check the softmenu' and I have to press F1 button to make it work (the system proc. reading error, just detact 1300ghz and the ramm 266mhz, tried to make changes in CMOS setup but the reading error still persist). Sometimes the system couldn't start at all and need to be reset for few times. After googled for the solution, I took suggested measures such like changing the cmos battery, tried several times to change the softmenu setup and etc. etc.

Rite now, the system couldn't start anymore. The hard disk is functioning, as well as all the fans, and even the board also seems working as all of the light, fans and etc keep lighting and moving, unfortunately there is no beep sound as usual. I took away the RAM from the mobo but there is no error BEEP sound of RAM missing. Is it my mobo gone and passed away? Or might be the PSU failure? Because on of the suggestion is to change the PSU. I still not change or try another PSU. Please help me because I really love this 8 years rig.

My old rig: AMD 2200+ 1.80ghz, 1GB RAM, mobo NF7-s, PSU 460w cap ayam, WD HDD.

CDROM not function

Laptop brand FTEC i think year 2005. My cdrom out of order few months ago. The problem is how to install windows as the bios do not have 'boot from other device' option. Is it possible using external cdrom? Could the bios detect the device. Please help me because i've to format my lappy. Malware and virus problem. Too heavy loading windows and other programs. TQ
