Hi all,

I'm looking at replacing the default Thompson TG784n that came with Maxis Fibre to a D-Link DIR-878 AC1900 or Tenda AC18. Still need to maintain the Thompson for VOIP but want to swap the router for better Wifi coverage and speed.

I stay in a double storey link house and the router is located at the back of the house (near where wet kitchen is in most link houses).

Anyone can give any advice on the performance and coverage of these two devices in my type of planned setup?

Astro on screen display zoomed

Unable to connect to other devices on LAN

Hi all,

I have a Technicolor TG784n v3 router and have two devices connected to it via Wifi on the same LAN (A: 192.168.1.78 and B: 192.168.1.80).

I have a service running on port 10001 on device A which device B can not connect to (just a telnet test to the port). I can't even ping device A from device B, and vice versa.

However, I then tried connecting both devices to another wifi AP (cisco), and I am able to telnet to port 10001 on device A from device B and can also successfully ping.

Does the TG784n have some sort of strict ruleset even for connected devices sitting on the same LAN? If so, I would really appeciate pointers on how to get rid of it.

Maxis misleading customers to charged SMS

I just got a new SIM card from Maxis 2 day ago and was setting it up on my spare phone. I accidentally pressed on the predefine contact in the SIM card for GPRS settings and got a nasty surprise when i was automatically subscribed for an RM2/week SMS subscription service instead!

This is obviously misleading and I am sure many would have tried using that option in the SIM contacts thinking it would set up their GPRS settings instead. To make matters worse, Maxis makes it VERY complicated to unsubscribe the service because they automatically subscribe you to TWO subscription services and makes you reconfirm that you want to stop the service, unlike other subscriptions like 4D.

Here's a video that I just took, showing that the contact in the SIM does not match the actual USSD service that it is supposed to:

I had a insufficient balance SMS because I ran out of credit due to this BOTS service!

Apple announces iPhone 4 pricing in Singapore

Apple has released prices for the iPhone 4 ahead of the July 30 launch in Singapore. The 16GB and 32GB models will cost S$888 and S$1,048, respectively, from the Apple online store.

Silly little time-wasting Easter Egg found in some YouTube videos: Play Snake (like on Nokia phones) in YouTube.

Here's how:

1. Go to YouTube.com (doesn't work on embedded videos)
2. The Easter Egg doesn't work on all videos, so just try your luck with a video from the Most Popular section at the bottom of the page.
3. Or just click on this link for a working video.
4. If the video has annotations, the Easter Egg won't work, so choose another one.
5. Pause the video
6. Press the left arrow button on your keyboard for a couple of seconds.
7. If the Easter Egg works in the video you selected, you should see the Snake and "food" appear!

Hi there!

Anyone know where I can get my unmodded Japanese Wii modded with the CycloWiz chip in KL/PJ?

Disclaimer:
My intension for the mod is not to play pirated games, but so that I can play the games that are available here in Malaysia, which the majority are US. I bought a Jap Wii from Japan because it is very cheap there (only about RM700) so I had enough budget to get 3 more original Japanese games at about RM150 each. The issue is not the price of the games, but the scarcity of them here that I can play.

However, if the moderator feels that this topic is inappropriate, then just please delete it.

DSL-G604T: How to enable port forwarding?

Hi all,

Anyone manage to enable port forwarding on your DSL-G604T?

I'm trying to enable port forwarding on mine and had a look at the instructions on www.portforward.com. However the pictures on the website looks different from what I see on my configuration screen.

I'm guessing that it's a new firmware, but don't see any updates on www.dlink.com.my. It lists the V1.00B02T02 as it's latest version (and it says it's for Singapore only ).

Would appreciate any help!
