Port forwarding to Avtech DVR with Aztech router

I am doing my own CCTV remote surveillance DIY. My Avtech AVC792 DVR has been working perfectly and accessible via LAN (both PC or Mobile).

But the problem is I cannot access it from WAN. My DVR is able to update the DDNS constantly, meaning to say I could access the dynamic IP using hostname from WAN. If I input my hostname into the browser, I will get the router login page, eg. mydvr.ddns.eagleeyes.tw

My router is Aztech DSL5008EN. I have perform port forwarding as below:

Public Port Range = 88-88
Private Port Range = 88-88
Local IP Address = <IP address of my dvr>
Protocol = Both

My DVR is configured to use port 88 which has been working when connected from LAN.

However, when I specify mydvr.ddns.eagleeyes.tw:88 in my browser or in eagleeyes, it fails!

It seems that the router didn't forward the port to my DVR correctly. I have enabled NAT as well in the router. Anything that I have left out? Any of you face similar issue before?

Thanks in advance.
TM - streamyx is managed by a bunch of unprofessio

No offense to those of my friends working in TM. This is just my personal experience. I would to share this because it could be useful to some new users.

I have finally, because of no choice, subscribe to Streamyx, our national's oldest broadband service. Although I already know that it is going to give me a lot of troubles (based on the experience shared by others), but that is the only provider in my area (my place has no P1, no izzit, no Time, no Maxis, no Digi, no Jaring broadband, actually forget about those half-baked 3G broadband, there are equally sucks).

Before I walked-in to the TM point counter, I made a call to find out more. The customer service person told me that I would get a 4-port wireless ADSL modem. So when I was at the counter, I got a 1-port wireless ADSL modem. The counter staff said, "You mahu complain boleh complain la dia, panggil nombor 100."

Second, the counter staff told me I have to SMS to 33535 to activate my account after 3 business working days. So I went back and do my own wiring nicely and waited until the 3rd day and smsed! There was no reply on my status.

On that night, I called up 100 to check. Ah Chong picked up and he told me I don't need to sms as this package is a Streamyx-In-A-Box, activation is automatic. So in fact my account was activated on the second day. @#$%^&*&^%$#. Okay fine! Then I asked, since it is already activated, how come I still could not use? He then asked me whether I'm using auto connect or manual connect but I don't know since I've never use Streamyx before. He then asked me to follow step by step, click Start-> Control Panel-> Network connection-> Add new connection, then key in login info. When I tried to dial, failed! I asked him how to configure Auto connect since it's a better way. He said very complicated, have to configure VCI 35 in the modem. The line then cut me off!

Second attempt to call 100, Irwan picked up. He asked me to click Start-> Control Panel-> Network Connection-> Local Area Connection and configure the properties, IP addresses for DNS server. I told him, "brother, I can't even connect to streamyx, why configure DNS at the first place? it's not because I cannot surf to websites." And then he asked me to click Start-> Run-> cmd and type ipconfig and read the ip address. I told him, "brother, lan and wireless settings ok, the problem is the WAN, connection to streamyx!" He said he is following procedure, and after all this cannot, he will help me to log a call to technician. I asked him the "Internet" LED not light up means ok or not. He said never mind. The line disconnect again!

After taking a bath (not smoking, normally I get ideas and inspiration in the bathroom or toilet!), I decided to try my own. Based on my troubleshooting experience, if it didn't able to connect, there must be a reason. The modem status shown it's connected to ADSL, bandwidth are okay, no errors in packets transmitted. So I enable system log. Ah ha! The log showed authentication failure.

Okay, this is another story. The notes from the registration asked customers to change the streamyx passwords at https://tmbill.tm.net.my as soon as possible. So before the 3 days, I already changed the passwords. There are altogether 3 passwords: streamyx login; streamyx mailbox; iChoose! The interface at the tmbill websites mentioned, if we want to change passwords for all 3 services, then don't check the box, otherwise, check the box that says individually change the password. Since I want the same password for all 3 services, I unchecked and duly changed the passwords.

So come back to attempt to connect, it could be the new password I supplied didn't work out. So I input the original password from TM and tried again. BINGO! The status shows a WAN IP address. And the "Internet" LED at the modem is on!

So for new streamyx users (or rather dumies) out there, how to know whether you are connected to streamyx? The ADSL light stable on doesn't mean that! You must see the Internet LED on. Or from modem or log showing valid WAN IP address!

I called up 100 again to check what is the proper way to change the streamyx login id. This time Amira picked up. Guess what she said? She said most customers encountered this problem. Hello.... If so many people encountered this problem, then why the first 2 support persons didn't even check my authentication detail first! And she also know there is a problem in the tmbill page when changing password. The actual way is: you have to check the box -> individually change the password for each service. This is so misleading... If TM already know this is a known issue, then why wasted so many man hours. Fix the web site! I doubt if a technician come to my house to check could solve this authentication issue if I don't troubleshoot my own! And then it will ding-dong for weeks before a person could narrow down to the issue and get it up! The conversation between Amira and me disconnected again by itself! I just wonder is this the way TM's 100 service to entertain the next customer in queue?

Conclusion: basically the 100 support service is hopeless (except the last person who told me how to change the passwords using their faulty website). They are not properly trained, don't know what are they doing by simply following procedures. They don't even know what is happening at the customer's site.

I'm entering a jungle although I know there are tigers there. So I better pray and hope the discruption is minimum. And I'm fully awared in most circumstances, I have to do self-rescue for myself.
