need help..Why RAM 4GB read as 2GB?

hi...I need help
I'm using PC with motherboard GIGABYTE GA-H55M-UD2H
It has 2 Kingston RAM 4GB DDR3 HyperX KHX1600C9D3K2/4GX
processor is i5 3.33GHz
window 7 64bits

inspite of 2pieces of 4GB RAM, total RAM is till 4GB. When I removed one of the RAM, total RAM became 2GB.
why it happened like that? what should I do to get optimum RAM?
