Fire Insurance for Mortgage

There is an auto renewal of fire insurance policy by the insurance company appointed by the bank, and I find that I am overpaying the premium as according to the sum insured. The reason being that it is just a fire insurance covering the building excluding the foundation, but the sum insured stated is on the total initial purchased amount of the property, as we all know that the building cost is only part of property value, and normally I will only insured about 40% for the fire insurance of the building.

Seems like I am not able to change the figure of the sum insured and i will not be able to get any discount from the insurance company appointed by bank.

Can anyone advise if is possible to appoint my own insurance company ? or is there any way that i can go about this issue ? thanks.
