I just bought Xbox One SG set + XBOX Live Gold but I am having difficulties on buying game from Xbox store since I can't register my credit card because the Xbox requests Singapore address and phone number.

So, here I am, seeking some tips and advise.

PS: Need For Speed on Xbox store is really cheap. Approx RM100 only. RM200+ if physical copy.

Thanks.

X-Fi Platinum vs Titanium HD / Essence STX

Hi,

Note sure if this is the right place to ask but I kinda in dilemma regarding this issue . Really need LYN audio taiko's advice.

I am using Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum (just like ExtremeMusic with Front Panel) since 2006. Recently I purchased AiAiAi TMA-1 and as expected, the X-Fi becomes the main source to drive this new can. However, I am curious about the new Creative SoundBlaster Titanium HD / Asus Xonar Essence STX. Should I upgrade my old X-Fi to the new Titanium HD/Xonar STX? Is there any significant sound quality improvement over my old X-Fi Platinum to justify the cost (RM500+ for STX, RM600+ for Titanium HD).

Please help.

Dell XPS 15z

I just found out that my Dell XPS 15z (shipped out 10 Jul 2011) drivers' and bios are totally out of date.
- Most of them dated as far as March 2011.
- Default BIOS reports wrong battery capacity and discharge/charge value.
- Some weird upper border bugs which prohibit maximize windows to occupy the whole screen estate (waste around 2mm of space) except when full screen mode.

For those who already purchase XPS 15z but haven't perform any driver update and bios update, do your laptop a big favor by visiting Dell Driver Page.

Changes that I noticed:

@ It is confirmed that Dell XPS15z uses 8 cells battery with 65WHr capacity. 8 hours + is easily achieved for work/study/office related activities. Wifi On and Off, depend on demand. Brightness, 3 step above the lowest setting.
@ Latest HD3000 driver update fix empty upper border bugs (for maximize windows).
@ Missing Intel Rapid Storage aps now available.
@ Fast Access (Face detection) works much better. For login (able to detect my face less than 1 second) and energy saving purposes. Now, when ever I left my laptop, it will automatically turn of the monitor (not sleep). Doesn't matter if I set to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes or 1 hour.
@ Dual finger scroll and zooming become more responsive.

I do not perform and quantitative benchmark thus I am not able to comment on performance department. WEI indicate same score though.

Hey guys,

Tommorow, I will pay a visit to KLCC PC fair, and I decide my old rig need to have some upgrade.

Currently use,

Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.8 GHz
Cheapo Gigabyte Mobo 945GC
2GB RAM DDR667

ATI Radeon 4850

----------------

And, I start to notice that my CPU start to become bottleneck (even at 2.25 GHz overcloked) during intensive usage (game or works). I realize that my CPU and GPU combo is not balance. So, I decide to fork out around RM800 to RM1200 for this minor upgrade.

Please recommend me a good value for money (performance / price) for this combo (CPU, 4GB Ram at least, and CrossFire Mobo).

I don't mind either Intel or AMD solution. Intel has it's good factor and AMD Fusion also make me tempted.

Thanks for your time guys.

Hope to see your reply soon

style="display:none"> AIDASS menawar rangkaian jalur lebar tinggi Cetak E-mail

Reference : http://www.kempen.gov.my/index.php?option=...=107&lang=malay

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian-Ukaranian collaboration hopes to provide high-speed wireless broadband and digital video broadcast technology at lower cost for the benefit of consumers soon.

Allied Digital Infonet Bhd, whose prime mover is Datuk Seri Mohd Adib Adam, a former land and regional development minister, has secured the operating and manufacturing licences for the technology, it was announced Wednesday.

Branding the technology as AIDAAS or Advanced Information Delivery and Access Solution, it is a a high-speed wireless broadband last-mile solution whose principle revolves around satellite transponder technology that is provided terrestrially or on the ground.

More effectively termed as Terrestrial Transponder Technology (3T), AIDAAS is the combination of DVB-S (digital video broadcast-satellite) and DVB-T (digital video broadcast-terrestrial).

The company said the technology, which is based on terrestrial transponders, makes it a much cheaper alternative to satellite transponders.

"It is operationally cost-effective because of its comparatively low power consumption, which in turn makes it environment-friendly," it added.

The AIDAAS triple-play (video, voice and data) applications include broadband (DVB-S) with conditional access like Pay TV. It also has value added features as Video on Demand (VOD) and Pay Per View (PPV).

The technology also enables broadband multimedia, thus allowing for Internet access, messaging, e-mail, Internet Protocol-TV (IP-TV) and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP).

Its high capacity enables the solution to minimise or avoid rain-fade, a common problem for all satellite broadcasting in this region whenever there is heavy rain.

The company said technology solution would allow for a convergence that "outstrips the promises of WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) and what WiMAX promises to deliver in 2008 AIDAAS can be delivered today."

Another plus point is that while GSM (global system for mobile communications) and WiMAX required massive infrastructure investments with every generation, AIDAAS is capital cost-effective because the solution is based on terrestrial transponders, which are much cheaper alternatives to satellite transponders.

Allied Digital Infonet will carry out trials are from early next month at different locations in the Klang Valley.

Under Phase One, it covers demonstrations to be undertaken with Telekom Malaysia to prove that there can be co-sharing of frequency spectrums.

Phase One will also see Version 1, the heart of it being an omni-directional antenna, covering an area with a radius of up to 50 km.

The company said this version has been tried, tested and commercially used in Ukraine, the technology's country of origin for Pay TV.

Version 1 has a capacity much larger than its nearest competitors, some 800Mbps for data delivery and 2Mbps minimum for end-user access.

The trials enter Phase Two in July where AIDAAS Version 2, the heart of which is the Sectoral Antenna, will be deployed. Version 2 is capable of even further reach up to a radius of 60 km and is fully interactive with a per end-user minimum capacity exceeding 10Mbps subject to availability of frequency spectrum.

The company said all approvals with the authorised regulatory bodies have been received, with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) having granted the licences and Telekom Malaysia agreeing to conduct the trials.

Reference : http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v3/news_lite.php?id=197990

iZZi challenger?
Frequent Check Disk required after reboot

First of all, I am sorry if somebody already bring this matter up, but i can't find any in recent page in this sub-forum.

This problem just happen recently, when i do heavy downloading non-stop (my pc never shut down for several days, for massive downloading, torrent or direct download). Everytime i reboot the PC, windows xp will run checkdisk on my C drive. And a lot of error was reported and corrected. It never happen before.

The hard disk involve is brand new Western Digital 250 GB Sata II 16 MB buffer which i bought 4 months ago. Benchmark and torture test indicate no problem and performance still about same as 4 month before. And, even so many error (record deleted, truncated etc), this is no bad sector reported.

I wonder, what happen to my hard disk actually. I cant detect any physical damage (by through scan using HDTune). Is it my windows already not in so good condition which it make the NTFS C drive go hay wire?

For your info, I use Crap Cleaner to throw away all the junks from my hard disk in single click....dont know if this a the cause of this problem too.

Really appreciated your advice and idea.

Thanks.
