I'm at the stage where I need to get as much validated learning as possible to improve the web app. The promise is to empower writers like you to start your own publication without worrying about server hosting, audience generation, monetisation, inefficient CMS, or audience interaction, so that you can focus on just writing great content.

The images, the posts, the coverage by online channels, will strike resonance amongst the urbanites who have access to these posts. Like it or not, many Malaysians subscribe to herd-mentality thinking. “If many do it and agree with it, it must be right, I should do and agree with it too.” So more likely than not, it worked. It will influence certain fence-sitters to sway towards the opposition.

Just like their mentality on product selection – “If many people use it, it must be good.”

But know this.

Malaysia’s majority of voters consist of the rural, small town, and semi-urban folks. Predominantly Malays. They make up more than 60% of the population. The government knows this. And they market themselves effectively to them. Build schools, bridges, roads, give BR1M, give sacks of rice with the politicians’ pictures on them, Kedai 1Malaysia, cheap government clinics and hospitals, and other immediate and short-term gratifications that these people value, more than the untangible notion of ‘improving economies and fairness for their children’s children’s children’s future etc.” We get it, they don’t.

And with the larger majority of the turnout at this Bersih being non-Malays, or at least that’s what most of the shared images are showing, the rural folks, with their not-so-analytical-savvy mindsets, will see it as an ethnic uprising. “The Chinese are getting big-headed”. “The Chinese want to topple the Malays and its Malay-Muslim-led government”. If they don’t see it, rest assured the government will spin it that way until they do.

And come the next PRU, the government machinery will once again use their mega-funds to woo the rural folks again, using today’s images to incite deeper hatred and fear that their so-called Ketuanan Melayu will be wiped out from the surface of this country if the opposition wins.

It’s politics, it’s dirty. But sadly, it works. It has worked for half a century. A congregation of 200,000 people in the city will not change it.

Wanna make a change and take over? Beat them at their own game. Go down to the grassroots. Make things happen for them and remind them who made it happen until they pangkah on your party logo.

You’ve already won many urbanites over. Consider doing the same to those that truly make up the numbers that matter.

Law Student Jumped to Death From Menara Umno Penang

The body of an unidentified woman, believed to be a law student, was found next to Menara Umno by a security guard after he heard a loud thud at about 7.40am today.

“Upon checking the premises, I found a body of a young woman lying on the floor beside the building,” said the guard according to a report by The Star.

The guard, who wished to remain anonymous, said the the impact had also damaged the zinc roof of an empty storage building beside the 21-storey Menara Umno building.
