CBU EVs Insurance Price after Tax Exemption?

Hi all, curious about how insurance premium works in CBU EVs (like Seal/Model 3). Since the insurance premium will be based on the vehicle's current market value. Currently, the import and excise duty exemption for fully-imported EVs will be ending Dec 31, 2025.

That means, the EVs you have now will likely be way more expensive than it would have depreciated by that time (for example, the Model 3 SR might be selling 300k+ without tax exemption). Does that mean your insurance premium will also increase?

Correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi guys, the last time I bought a 5lbs tub of ON Whey was probably 6-7years ago, but I faintly remember if it's your 1st time opening the tub, there will be a white paper-material seal on top of the cover that you have to peel open.

But that's not the case for what I received. The moment I turn the cap open, there is no seal separating the tub with the cap.

Any regular user / buyer here that knows if there's any paper-like seal that exists in this product all these while? Is this legit or did they replace it with milo powder?

Whey Protein Powder Suggestion

I haven't been in the fitness scene for quite some time. I've always sticked with Optimimum Nutrition (ON) 10lbs Dark Chocolate Flavor. But for some reason (I'm not sure why as I'm not monitoring the market closely), they are longer selling 10lbs but only 5lbs. One of the online sellers told me it's because the company isn't making enough profits from selling the big 10lbs packs. Obviously the 5lbs option isn't the most cost-effective, so I switched to Myprotein Impact Whey Protein 2.5kg (Vanilla) for about RM280. That's about 5.5lbs, not much of a difference actually.

Unfortunately the mixability is kinda bad, I often get clumps of powder in my drink rather than how smooth it was with ON back then.

So is there any brand that can satisfy the following criteria that I can consider?

1. Don't have too much added junks
2. Good value for money (not necessarily the cheapest)
3. Not tasting too ridiculous that I dread it
4. Not causing gastrointestinal issues for most people (I understand this may vary from person to person)

Owning EV without AC charger at home

Hi sifus, do you guys think it’s feasible to own an EV (Tesla Model 3, to be specific) without having any AC charger at home? Is it good to always rely on DC chargers outside in the city?

To give a better context:
- Stay in condo, impossible to install AC
- In Klang Valley (more DC chargers coming in soon?)
- EV is 2nd car, main car is ICE
- EV not used for long distance traveling

Many Msians are skeptical about having EV without staying in a landed house. But what do you guys think? Is it doable? If not, what are some of the things we can do?

It's well known that used car dealers are shady AF.

Is what you'll typically see with 2nd hand car dealers on carlist.com, which is hardly believable.

I noticed there's an option to filter them with "CARSOME certified" vehicles.

Has anyone bought a CARSOME Certified used car before? If so, how good are they exactly in terms of reliability? Do you trust Carsome Certified more than the typical dealers?

What are the links (pointed by red arrows) underneath the main site link here called? Is there a specific term/jargon for it?

I need to edit the Titles/Headings on each of them (even the phone number is wrong) as everything's off after my assistant left it that way. I have looking around in Wix's settings but can't seem to find a solution.

I mean, I wanna Google "how to edit ... on WIX" but I don't even know what they're called, those small branches below the main site link 😂

Why people sell cars to dealers not end users?

Have been browsing Carlist.com for a month and I noticed, whatever model of car you search, there will be a 10-20x longer lists of “Dealer” compared to “Private”? Same thing on Carousell or any other platform, it’s always full of dealerships than direct car owners wanting to sell their used cars.

Since dealers are notorious for tempering with mileage/odometer, lying about accident/flood/ownership history and such, why do people still sell to them instead of selling to end users interested in used cars?

The logic is, since dealers will always want to buy at the lowest price (understandably since it’s their biz nature), why don’t ppl just sell directly to interested buyers? Do dealers save you so much time that buying/selling with them make it more worthwhile than buying/selling with individuals?

Always see 2nd hand MB (Recon/Local) selling on high prices on Carlist.com. Makes one feel confident in buying a new one with a peace of mind that its value retains well 3-5years later.

So generally how good is the resale value, compared to other brands? Or are the carlist dealers just hiking up prices for fatter profits?

Let’s say you get a C200 at 292,888 now, can you still expect 180-200k 5 years later if well taken care of?

Portable Speaker with SD card / USB

Hi sifu sekalian, I need recommendation on a special type of portable speaker that can read audio files in SD/microSD card, or even USB.

Usage: It's to be placed in my office, so preferably long battery life.

I'm currently using a typical Bluetooth speaker (For your reference Huawei) that connects to my phone's Spotify, but it's getting overly dependent on my phone (when I record video, send/listen to WA audio, away from office etc.). I want something to be able to function similarly without needing any device at all.

So to keep it simple, it should tick a few simple boxes:
- Able to function with audio files SD/mircoSD/USB
- Relatively small
- Reasonably long battery life
*it's not a big place so don't need to be very loud/strong, don't need high quality audio too and certainly don't need Bluetooth

Good Alternative to Tupperware Bottle

Hi all, I’m someone that drinks a lot and I carried my tupperware bottle with me all these years. However biofilms form very fast inside (mine’s black so not immediately obvious) and it shocked me upon inspection that all along I’ve been drinking polluted water (a lot of transparent biofilms floating in the water, very nauseating to even look at).

Whenever it’s thoroughly cleaned (you can whether feel the inner surface is slippery with biofilm or smooth like plastic), the dirt forms back very fast and I usually forget about it until 5-6months later. It’s also super hard to clean because of the strange shape of the design. You can’t get your hands in and there are edges a brush wouldn’t reach well.

Gotta stop constantly drinking the polluted water. So what’s a good, healthy, easy-to-carry bottle similar to tupperware?

I think the title is misleading as it’s more of a robbery than a scam.

If you read the news, you’ll realized that the victim didn’t even give out his OTP. In other words he did nothing wrong at all. No malicious apps downloaded whatsoever, so how is this even possible? 2times of Rm500k transactions in split seconds.

If this is possible, there’s nothing we can do to avoid this except not having an online bank account at all. Possible insider job? Also which bank do you think this is?

Questions on IP Camera / Wireless CCTV

Hey all, I'm interested in this type of wireless CCTV (for office use):

Xiaomi Mijia PTZ

1. What happens to this type of wireless CCTV when they lost connection to Wifi for any reason? Do they stop recording altogether? Or will the footage still be stored in the SD card inserted?

2. I watched the unbox video here and apparently you need to scan a QR code at the bottom of the CCTV to view the footage from your phone's app. If I'm mounting the CCTV onto the ceiling, wouldn't that be a huge problem? (the QR code will be covered by the ceiling)

3. Which of the above 2 products (Xiaomi vs TP Link) is better in your opinion?

Questions for Digi Prepaid Users!

Dear all esteemed Digi user,

I just purchased a new number under the package "Digi Prepaid NEXT", which charges RM35/month. So my question is:

1) Is there a way to reload your prepaid credit for precisely RM35? From I can see from Grab (the platform I always use to reload), it's only RM30 or RM50 without any amount in between.

2) If that's really the case, what is the best way to efficiently utilize a plan with RM35/month subscription fees? Is the extra RM15 of outstanding an unavoidable waste every month?

To give you an idea of my experience with Digi, all along my phone's plan (with my old number) is DiGi Easy Prepaid v3 with the subscription of biGBonus28. I love this subscription so much but there's no way to purchase it anymore. The trick is to reload RM30 every time and let is auto-deduct RM28 from my credits so that I have unlimited local calls (which is the only thing I need).

A Console I CAN’T find online

Something suddenly hits my memory and it bugs to not be able to find it on Google (idk the right term to use on search).

When I was very young (probably in 1999 - 2003), I had this handheld gaming console (I had 2 actually, they looked entirely different but used the same concept) that had games in purely black and white big pixels. The pixels look like the screen of those old calculators (it will change color if you press hard with your fingers on the display screen). My parents called it “dit dit gei” in Cantonese. Everything is B&W, made up of huge pixels and the mechanics are even simpler than 1st gen gameboy.

Notable games I can remember include tetris, and one you evade incoming cars from top, and one you shoot bullets from a tank to other tanks until a boss battle with giant tank.

I think they’re probably not from big brands like Nintendo, but anyone here played this thing before? I would love to know what it’s called so that I can watch game runs of it on YouTube (if someone made it).

Sorry I have no photos to jog your memory, but I can draw something out if you need me to. Hope someone here played the same type of console before.

New Myvi Bumper Replacement?

Few days ago I've accidentally knocked onto a cut tree trunk (not visible at all on front view) and broke the black "plastic part" (idk what it's called) of my bumper as seen in the photo above.

So sifu-sifu sekalian, I have a few genuine questions here:
1) I picked up the broken part, can it be reattached back at a lower cost? (it sure doesn't seem so)

2) What would be the average cost of replacing the WHOLE black "plastic part" of my bumper?

3) Can I ignore this whole damage altogether and continue driving my car as usual? Does it lead to any possible long term damage?

4) Can I opt to remove that ENTIRE black "plastic part" of my car? Cause all along it seems to only be causing a lot of troubles. It's often damaged easily by low pavements. Another issue I have with it is that whenever it's damage it seems to drag the other parts of my car along as my left bumper (the silver part under the headlight) is getting loose.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to anything auto-related, please enlighten me. Thanks in advance for your valuable insights / input!
