Time broadband unable to connect to some websites

So I have a strange problem.

I recently flashed my time DIR-882 D-Link router to the latest firmware because I wanted to test some VPN stuff for my arduino dev. I used the 4.0 firmware from the Russian dlink site.

After flashing, I restored my previously saved config file. The connection works fine, with most websites working without a hitch at all.

However there are some notable exceptions, for one, www.pbebank.com returns unable to connect error and today yahoo.com as well. Everything else works fine. Just very few websites seem to be completely not connecting.

I have tried changing DNS, flushing DNS, deleting DNS cache on browser, resetting connections, and lowering MTU to the minimum.

It still isn't working.

It seems to be a router issue because all PCs and all mobile devices cannot connect to the websites when on WiFi. But on data everything is fine. Even the pbebank mobile app won't work on WiFi, but works on data.

Any clues on what I can do?

Lumia 800 died. What's next?

Hi guys. Long time WP7 user on the Lumia 800, and I love my phone to bits. So sad it died yesterday (totally gone cold, either the battery cut itself off to prevent failure or the charging/USB assembly is gone)

Anyway, it's time to change. What would you guys recommend? I'm asking in this particular subforum because I think you would understand my love for the ecosystem, but perhaps objectively we can come to a reasonable conclusion. The options I'm looking at are:

Lumia 830 (about RM1200) - Because it is new, has wireless charging, better CPU(?)

Lumia 925 (about RM900) - Because it was a flagship, really cheap now, not much different from the 830 and smaller (which I like)

Two Lumia's are in consideration because I am very comfortable with the WP ecosystem, and I'm hoping for a seamless transition and migration over. I am a heavy OneNote user as it syncs with my Surface Pro which is my work machine. Finally, WP8 will get Windows 10.

Mi3 (about RM800) - Because it is so bloody cheap with almost top tier specs

OnePlus One (about RM1200) - Because it is a top tier phone with mid tier pricing.

For these androids, since my phone is dead, how can I get my contacts across? Most of my stuff are synced to windows live. Can it be synced back to an android phone? No idea at all about this ecosystem.

What do you guys think? Buy a mid tier windows phone and stay with the ecosystem, or buy a top tier android phone for the same price. This is honestly a really hard decision for me. Apps are not a big deal to me, so I've never found the playstore very compelling.

Hello,

Would like to purchase a couple of TV's for 3D Dev and experiments, especially with NVidia's 3DVision. I'm trying to get those that can output true 120hz, but they seem really hard to find in MY. Mostly being multiplications of 50hz instead of 60. I've contacted Samsung in the past, no success there. Anyone know of any specific models I can check out?

Unifi, double story apartment, network suggestion.

Hey guys,

Getting unifi set up in my double storey apartment. As Unifi will use VDSL2 for my place (I'm pretty sure), I'm having some problems planning the network. There are two wall outlets for the phone line, one downstairs right behind the TV, and another upstairs in the master bedroom. The problem is, all the PCs and notebooks used are upstairs, including my gaming rig, and only the TV is downstairs. The layout of my house is such that pulling cables would be quite a mess (downstairs to upstairs).

Would latency of wifi be bad? I've heard terrible stories of TM's router thingy. Have not actually tested the latency of ethernet vs wireless, but I don't think I want to go wireless.

What is the latency of homeplug systems, and can they be used here? Can I have my unifi stuff all upstairs and homeplug set top box to the router?

Should I just dump everything downstairs and pull the ethernet cable upstairs?

Is there any other solution? Such as is there any way for the router/modem to be upstairs and the set top box to be downstairs.

I do not want to use wireless repeaters, and I'm trying to get as little additional latency as possible. An extra 10ms is ok.

Hoping to hear some suggestions. Battlefield 3 and Diablo 3 are coming! Need to be ready hehe.

Time to upgrade my internals. Need Recommendations

Hi guys, looking to change the internals of my rig. I mainly use it for gaming (this will be specially for dragonage 2, Crysis2 and Battlefield 3!). I also do some programming, 3d modeling, mess with game engines.

Things I will be changing:

Mobo: No clue what I should get, but looking to have USB3.0 in it. SATA 3 too.

Processor: Definitely want an i7 for the HT, but sandybridge? I won't be overclocking this time around, so... 2600 sufficient? Still considering i5. does HT help a lot? No AMD pls.

RAM: DDR3 of course, but does triple channel matter at the moment? Looking to get between 4-8 gig, Not going for performance RAM either, as benches have shown they don't really matter.

HDD: Really really want to get a SSD, looking at 120gig. What do you guys recommend? Don't think I will need new secondaries.

GPU: Want NVidia for 3DVision, DX11 would be great. Must have at least 1GB Mem.

PSU: Whatever that will be sufficient to juice my rig. Again, I won't be overclocking. It's also highly unlikely that I'll SLI in the future.

I'm hoping to fit all this within a budget of 3.5k. No casing, monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. Only the internals as mentioned above. I don't think I'll need new cooling solutions too, as, one more time, I'm not planning to overclock.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Oh, I'd like to add, I can wait about a month if this would resolve any sandybridge issues/newer products launching, etc. but that 1 month has to be on the shelf though, meaning I don't want to wait for a product that launches in a month, but arrives at our shores 5 months later haha!

Planning to do some kind of paint protection for my new car, and am very interested in Sierra Glow as it seems low in maintenance. Anyone has got any long term experience with it? Anything more than 8 months would be good. 1 year would be perfect haha. I've read many forums and articles about it, but still can't find long term effects of it.

I hope this is not in the wrong section. I'd like to know if anyone knows of any vendors who have brought this in? Need to get one for a VR project.

It would also help if anyone knows if there would be any synchronization problems if 3 active 3d projectors are being used at the same time (120hz refresh, but will the refresh rates sync?)

Browser being redirected to Google.cn/hk?

Hello, earlier in the night when I was surfing along as per normal, suddenly links and urls on my browser started getting redirected to a page that seems to be google.hk or .cn. I can't tell because the url, the page properties, even the icon on the browser shows that I'm at the page I wanted to navigate to, but the page loaded is not. It's possibly a phishing placeholder, as the google image never loads. just the links and the search bar. Wondering if anyone else experienced this? Any explanation? I doubt it's a host file attack as I'm on Vista... changing the host file in vista is rather difficult. I downloaded nothing today, neither did I install any plug-ins.

The symptoms have dissapeared as suddenly as they have appeared. I can navigate as per normal. But I'm afraid that something more serious might be afoot.

Time for an upgrade soldier!

Howdy. My rig is aging and I'm starting to feel it. Don't want to spend on a new system so I'm thinking of just changing the GPU for the moment. Budget is at anything below RM700 (preferably below 600? hehe).

Currently I use a 8800GTS 512 (G92 IIRC). Other specs are E8400, 4gig 800mhz DDR2 ram, Asus P5ND mobo (Nforce 750i sli).

Looking at price lists, the options seem to be Ati's 5770 cards for DX11, or a 250/260 GTS/GTX for PhysX. I heard there's the possibility of running both my 8800 and a ATI for both PhysX and DX11, but some reading showed me that it's more towards win7 and newer drivers of Nvidia have negated this anyway (though there aer patches )

What do you guys think? Initially I wanted to go for a ATI, but without the PhysX of a Nvidia, my CPU will be quite a bottleneck no? I used to O/C my processor, but recently i've changed it back to normal to reduce electricity bill costs lol. 2 games I recently bought are Battlefield BC2 and AVP. One has awesome destruction environments while the other has DX11 options. SO HARD TO CHOOSE NOW ARRRRGH.

Help. Please. Thanks.

Now my phoneline to modem is rather long (50feet), but with the modem off there is no noise on the phone wherever I plug it (either end of the extension or direct to the wall). But when the modem comes on, there is noticeable noise on the phoneline. What happens now is, If I unplug everything and plug them back together, I can usually get a Downstream margin of 19DB, but this doesn't last long. After about half an hour, It would have dropped to <10DB, and if I leave it for a full day, it will even be below 5DB. This is quite frustrating. Even as I type this messaged t has dropped from 19->12DB

What could be the problem?
Can I move RAID-0 sata disks to other sata ports

I've got 2 SATA HDs in RAID-0 and a third SATA disk as normal. The two RAIDed ones are in sata ports 1 and 2 and the third HD is in sata port 3. I'm wondering if I can just move the disks to ports 2-3 and 4 instead or will it corrupt my raid array? Is there any way to do this relocation withut having to re-format my RAID-0 hds?

Just starting to tinker. Seeking wisdom ^__^

So I just got my new rig, slapped it together and discovered I got a whole lot of heat issues (or at least i think I have).
First of all, I'm not a modder, I might be, some day, as I find it terribly fun to just tear everything out of my casing and put it back again. However, I've been doing some minor tweaks (adding fans and stuff) so I thought I should seek some tips/advice. A brief rundown of the main stuff

E8400 (stock, but planning to O/C)
Asus P5N-D
2x2 Gb Mushkin RAM 5-4-4-12 at 1.89v
Asus EN 8800 GTS (G92) 512MB (stock for the moment)
2x 80Gb WD Caviar SATA 2.0 RAID 0
1X 160Gb Seagate SATA 2.0 for backup
CoolerMaster RealPower Pro 550w PSU

And pictures :

Front view. Basic normal casing, with no front intake vents!

Side view. ordinary vents, but rather short lower vent. The top vent for the processor sems really useful, but i'm not so sure...

As you can see, the vent extends directly over my processor, unlike my old casing and the AMD mobo, where it was misaligned

I've put the vent depth at maximum to best reach the processor HSF.

The inside view

Power supply to mobo (yes I put one of my HDD in the FDD slot. HAHA! )

Added two fans in the front

Not much gap for airflow

Made my own air filter out of old mobo padding

Source of heat.

My questions:

1. My GTS is rather long, as a result, the lower vent on the side panel is not long enough, doesn't reach the fan of the card. Should I worry about that? Additionally, is it wise for me to add my DIY "filter" for the side vents?

2. How practical is the side vent duct to the processor? Logically, it seems like a good thing, helping the processor draw in fresh cool air. However, when extended to maxmum length, it's directly in front of my rear exhaust fan. it's so close that I have to take extra care when removing the casing in order not to clip the fan (if I didn't shut down ^__^). Keep it? Remove it?

3. Adding to the previous question, I'm considering buying a third party HSF for my processor as it's running really hot. Idling at 50-53c, and after awhile of prime95, it hits 73-75. What I have in mind is soemthing like the ZALMAN 9700 LED or Artic cooling 7 extreme (whatever it's called) where airflow is from front of casing to the back. I will obviously have to remove the side duct then. Should I, in this case, due to the improved front to back airflow (exhaust fan + HSF) seal the side vents with some paper or something?

4. I've tried to be as tidy as possible with my cables. However, I'm wondering if I overdid it. Notice the arrangement of my EATX power cable. It's at quite an extreme angle. Would I be risking damaging the board in the long run? The sleeving seems to make bending and routing the cable a bit difficult.

5. I tried adding two fans in front. However, they prove to be a significant source of noise. They are louder than my GTS running at 60% fan speed (those who have a GTS will know the volume). Even if I plug the lower 120mm fan to my mobo and put a silent profile (1A, 12V ?) it's still louder than my GTS at 60%. I'm guessing it's because of the fan's mounting, where gaps for airflow are small, and the fan is mounted directly infront of a "perforated wall" haha. What can I do about this? Perhaps rigging my own cables for 5 or 7 volt would help?

6. After trying with and without the front fans, I find little difference in mobo/gc/proc temperature between both. I'm wondering if it's really worth it. I think it is, but the numbers seem to say otherwise. I can feel a stronger slow of air front the front when I switch on the two front fans (obviously) but they don't seem to be helping that much. Any reason?

7.Any (neat) ideas about heat management for the 3 main ovens which are the proc, NB and GC. As you can see my mobo places them quite near each other. The exhaust from the processor fan is supposed to "cool" the NB. Strange thing is, my mobo provides a fan for the NB, but strongly suggests only using it with when using passive or water cooling on the processor, where there will be no airflow. I sort of agree with this logic, as the NB fan is placed on top of the NB heatsink. The processor would be expelling hot air from the side fins, and the NM expelling hot air from the side fins as well, as a result, both hot air will be "clashing" of sorts. Don't know how it'll work out. I suppose if I get a 3rd party HSF for my processor, then stick on the NB fan, my problems will be solved? NB is very very hot. I can barely leave my finger there for more than 3-5 seconds. Of course, some people have thicker skin ( =

8.Any ideas how I can possibly implement a SLI 8800 GTS solution in my mobo? notice that the SATA ports on the MOBO are directly under the spot where a 2nd GTS can be placed. Nothing can be done?

Although I am worried about heat, I'm more worried about noise. Especially when I'm not gaming (so the sound of GTS cranking up when gaming is forgivable ^__^) I am very satisfied with the noise level of my CoolerMaster LED silent 120mm fan. I hope you guys can give some guidelines for me tweak my little baby a bit. My Gc is ideling at 55-56c (the fan keeps switching from 50% to 60% to drop it from 56c back to 55c, the it rises, then drops, loop)

The ideas I have now:
-Buy 3rd party HSF with horizontal (horizontal when the board is lying down) airflow to aid front to back airflow as well as cool down the processor
-Maybe cut a vent at the bottom of the casing for a bottom mounted fan to draw cool air in, as I don't want to cut the front panel of my casing. Since the GTS fan draws air from the bottom, this will help it too. How difficult is cutting? do I need special tools? would ordinar power drills with the proper heads work?
-Buy new casing Which I really don't want to at the moment. Already spent enough money. HAHA!

Any suggestions, tips, advice, rebuke welcome ( = Sincerely appreciate your time for veiwing this lengthy post.

Anyone seen 8800 GTS 512 in SLI?

I'm just wondering. I was considering the possibility of buying another one. Just dreaming perhaps, but I looked at my mobo (ASUS P5N-D) and I realized, if I were to SLI them buggers, the two cards would be literally sandwiched together. Where to breathe? lol. So I was wondering if any of you guys have SLI or Crossfire rigs with dual slot GPUs, and how's the heat managemant, airflow, space. PICTURES! Anybody? An mobo. I'm just realy curious what it'll be like physically (not performance wise). Can't find much on the internets.
