[Review] Hippo VB

I bought the Hippo VB bundle few weeks ago (i think! forgot liao). Hence I am here to review these babies as promised to yuheng. This is my first review. Please do not bomb me if u don't agree with me. Do not bomb me also as I'm not good with words so will tend to plagiarize other ppl's reviews (maybe).

[attachmentid=1636537]

[attachmentid=1636943]

[attachmentid=1636538]

Hippo VB Specs
Driver: 10mm Mylar
Impedance: 32 Ohm
Sensitivity: 105dB
Frequency response: 18Hz – 22kHz
Plug: Angled 3.5mm gold-plated plug (Fits Iphone)
Accessories: Case, 3 pair of single-flanged tips (S, M, L), shirt clip, 3 bass ports

First Impressions
When i first opened the box, the VB looks small. I thought it was big but it was small. The case given is quite big. The cable of the VB feels plasticky and the tips given feels like eraser! Not comfortable! Nevertheless, I just used my Sony silicon tips on it. It took me a couple of days to get the left ear to fit the tips without feeling pressure inside my ear.

Before burn-in
It sounds flat and the harsh treble was killing my ears. Hated it at first.

After 90+ hours of burnt in
The sound seems to improved. The harsh treble is still there but not as harsh when i listened to it when is zero burn in. I think the VB is airly which means it seems like the singer is singing in front of me. Very wide soundstage as well. I'm using 2-dot plate for this as I found that it's the best. Dotless plate is the bassiest but the bass is boomy and it tends to drown out the mids. With 3-dot plate, the bass is the least and sound is clear still. What i love about the VB is the sub bass, seems like got subwoofer in my head. The music is just lovely. They sound like a full sized phone too. I still haven't figure out how to explain the signature of the VB. Some say it's warm, some say it's neutral. For me, it seems flat, i guess that would be neutral?

Anyway, am still listening to the VB to see if there's anything I can still write.
