Should Gov Grant tax exemption to PHEV and Hybird

Somehow i found it quite funny that government is keep on promoting EV but we all know that EV still for the rich. Even the so called affordable EV cost >100k. Probably because P1 P2 is still protected because of this.

However i keep listening that Gov /Anwar wanted to help the rakyat this and that but most of the time is removal of subsidy

Since we are oil country if government really wanted to help rakyat in terms of transportation. Why cant government grant tax exemption to Hybrid and PHEV? Maybe PHEV is tax exempted but i hardly see any "affordable" PHEV.

Pure EV just doesn't seems feasible for average joe or someone having a condo.

Please correct me if the tax exemption portion is wrong but overall i dont think gov is push hard enough in helping rakyat. At least make hybrid and PHEV affordable to general mass.

Renovation 30 years home

Hi everyone,

Want to share my experience in renovating my old double-storey terrace. My house is more than 30 years old, and the condition is very worn out, Me and my wife plan to have a total makeover of the house and move in after our wedding (which got delayed due to MCO)

Some backgrounds:
I have zero knowledge in renovation and interior design, and also having a busy work from home job that requires me to pay full attention during day time. So, I have to find a balance between work, time and money cost for this major house renovation.

Engaging an interior designer is totally out of our consideration initially due to budget concern.

Then, we plan to engage each of the subcon to do the work and even consider hiring Indonesian workers to renovate the house.

But it just not feasible after much consideration. And I have heard bad experience from others when dealing with foreign workers. I am scared of being cheated and simply don’t have time to monitor the work daily.

After searching high and low, a few rounds of comparison, we decided to go with one of the ID contractors (littleants studio) we found on lowyat, which we think their price is fair (We are glad that we managed to find him)

House conditions:
-30-year old double-storey corner lot house with no extra space, (which makes it almost like an intermediate unit).
-Trees grow in the car porch area
-Outdated toilet tiles and layout
-Leaking roof
-Living room feel narrow and stuffy

After discussing with my ID, we have come out with a full list of work to be done as below.

Makeover To-do list:
-Renovation drawing & permit submission
-Fully extend backyard area into wet kitchen
-Tear down existing car porch roof, build new concrete roof that accommodates 2 cars
-Fix leaking roof
-Widen the existing gate and replace it with an automated folding gate
-Redo all wiring works
-Redo all piping works
-Redo all toilets (with new waterproofing)
-Laminate flooring on second floors
-New ceiling
-Lighting and fans
-New windows and sliding doors
-Install new aircond point
-Metal grille
-Kitchen cabinet
-Master bedroom built-in wardrobe
-Total repainting

Living Room-
As advised, by our ID, we break the partition wall between old wet kitchen and living room to widen up the layout And also add windows at the side to bring in sunlight while maintaining.

Wet kitchen:
We converted the existing backyard area into a new kitchen. I also chipped in my idea of using skylight in the kitchen instead of using windows. So I don’t have to stare into my neighbours kitchen or facing the dirty back alley. The results turn out to be pretty good and constructed nicely by the contractor.

Malaysia driving bad attitute

Recently there is a news about Ambulance took 60 minutes to reach the crash site for the victims while it normal time only need 15 minutes. The reason being the emergency lane was blocked by normal users/irresponsible user like us.

So this evening after my work. I drove my car back from office back to my own house (PJ to Cheras). I am coming from UM direction toward Midvalley where i intersected into federal highway. I was at the most left lane waiting the queue as it was heavy traffic during rush hour. Suddenly there was a car signaled and use the emergency lane. As usual all other cars will follow.

At one point i decided to move my car to slightly left to tentatively block the car from using emergency lane and I did. I was horn by an uncle driving a dark blue lexus SUV. He constantly driving to drive through the small path until the extend it was almost sticking next to my car. I gave up eventually by giving way to him. And to my surprise he stop right beside me and start to scold me with very ganas face. I could not hear what he was saying but guess he is saying stuff like knnmcb.

Some of you may say that I am wrong by blocking the emergency lane but why do we have such a mentality in the first place? The uncle tentatively scolded me but he is the one who is at fault.

I wish to raise this awareness by telling all of you not to use emergency lane not until it is too late.

To add on
1.) Many would say I break the law by blocking road. Okay What I did was I might have break the law but one thing for sure is I only move my car SLIGHTLY towards left. Any car can still squeeze through, and of course I am able to give way instantly if there is ambulance or whatsoever. I did not block the road completely; I just moved my car slightly left.
2.) Some of you will say what if he really has emergency? To be honest if the driver has emergency, he can always light up the hazard lights. Malaysians would be gladly to give way no matter what.
3.) Some of you may say post the picture and viral it! There is no point doing that as it only instills more hatred where the root itself is not solved.
4.) I just want to raise awareness to all of you try not to use emergency lane anymore by doing it now today. Past is past but the present is even more important.

Okay guys I really really need your feedback and comment preferably from the actual owner who are driving all these cars. Due to my limited budget, I would only able to choose 3 of the at around 73k.

My maximum budget would be around 75k as I do not wish to spend so much on a car.
Some will ask why not Preve. Yes Preve is a good car but high fuel consumption as my job requires me to travel around city very frequently. Getting a car with high fuel consumption would be a minus for me.
I am currently driving the first version of waja 2000, would prefer some new brand instead.

My criteria.
1.) Durability. I am talking about at least 15 years and above of usage with proper maintenance yet the car still feels solid.
2.) Average/good fuel consumption
2.) Enough power to go uphill, i.e genting (I know Almera would lose in this.)
4.) Ok ok maintenance cost.
5.) Safety.

Therefore I have choosen Almera (V) vs City (S+) vs Vios (J). The benchmark used is 2 airbags

Almera (V)
RM74.5k. Rebate arounnd RM5.5k some offer free skirting
Discounted price 69k

Pros:
Big let room
New facelifit 2015 model.
Fuel consumption still consider okay

Cons:
Under power when going uphill (Some said install potent booster would help)
No folding 60:40

Citiy (S+)
RM74.7k. Rebate around RM3-to 4k)
Discounted price = RM71k

Pros:
Stylish looking among it class.
Bigger boot
Bluetooth.

Cons:
Spare parts slightly expensive than the other two.
Some said Gearbox easy die off (but some said only apply for I-dsI , CVT not anymore.) Myth?
No folding 60:40

Vios (J)
Around 75k, rebate around 2k
Discounted price = RM73k

Pros :
Push up button.
Cheaper maintenace cost, every foreman knows how to fix.
Some said quality build better.

Cons.
Back design so so.
Some said fuel consumption so so for this latest model.

Guys pls give some advise pls.

Dilemma on choosing my new car

Dear Sifus,

I have dilemma in choosing my new car.

Driving : Old proton waja age almost 16 years old. (Engine dy so so with a litte bit of oil leaking, not noticeable but everytime I change oil the quantity sure lesser.

Budget: Max 80k

Cars : Proton Persona, Proton Preve, Toyota Vios , Honda City , Proton Inspira.

Concerned : ease of mind(not need repair from time to time , prefer good driving experience, good fuel consumption (I Know it contradict with good driving
experience) , best bang for buck car. Hope can last more than 20 years ( not rich ppl so cannot change car so frequent)

Test drove Honda City the car was great but somehow I felt the space is smaller than waja, steering smaller, and less power kick in during pickup.
I even thought of Mazda3 as I heard the CKD 2.0 might cost only Rm105k. (unconfirm)

Therefore, would really like to ask all the Sifu here any recommendation. Hope all the owner here would comment on it. Please dun compare spec to spec. It is just paper talk.

I goggle my old mobo to find a whether my graphic card of Ati Radeon X1300 pro can put in use or not.
It seems I only found out that that mobo only support 15 types of GC but could't find the list. Is the mobo support X1300?

Reformat free HP netbook from Unicoolpack

Received the netbook quite some time already but seldom use it until now. I found out that the netbook comes with some unnecessary software which drastically slow the netbook.

Can I reformat my netbook OS to windows 7 utlimate? I tried it with external DVD drive but it seems not working. I cant get into boot device selection menu like I did for desktop and other laptop. COz evertime i on the netbook it will go to HP media before I actually boot the OS.

I search internet but it seems no one provide a guide on reformating the netbook.
Oh btw is it ok not to backup all the hp stuff? Since windows7 will auto download all the driver and windows XP driver can be dowloaded from the webiste. I seriously need some pro to guide me.

Dunno where to download Ethernet driver.

2k budget for desktop with LCD screen

My friend wanted to buy a desktop with budget of 2k but I not used to choosing Processor and Mobo. So would like to ask some suggestion from forumer.
Here are basic requirement my fren wanted
-A moderate Wireless mouse with cheapo keyboard
- No need speaker
-A Lcd screen. Budget wise I don't think choosing samsung huh. Any suggestion? 19inch will do
I suggest Ati Radeon HD 5570 to him for graphic card with cost around RM300.
-Hard disk Samsung 750G or WD Blue/Black 500G
-Processor he kinda wanted a i5 intel but I suggest him to buy Amd coz cheper.

Hi my cpu currently install with 2 x 512 ddr ram 1 kingston 1 kingmax.
I would like to buy more 2 x 512 kingston so that it runs smoother in windows 7
The problem is if i install 2 more ram which fill up all the slot , will it damage the mobo? Or overheated? Most of all is it compatible?

CUrrently install with 2 x 512 Mb. One is KingMax 512 DDR-400 another 1 is king ston. As far as i concorned my mobo only can support up to 2 GB so 2 more 512 ram would be lovely.
The reason I want to upgrade my ram is because I'm using windows 7.
Oh btw is ddr and ddr1 the same? As I saw alot selling in Garage sales.
Is all these supported? take a few examples from GS

Computer cant load into windows loading screen

Am frustrated with the computer coz it has problem when in the middle of final.
Yesterday switch on the computer as usual but hang at a certain level.
When startup > Mobo wallpaper ( Asus) > Prompt to checking ram all that > Prompt to mentioned My Hard disk and it hangs.

Normally when hard disk got problem it will appear load boot disk failed but this time it only hangs there.

At first I thought is system failure so I decided to use Xp cd to do a repair mode on it. After finishing repairing and again we need to load into Xp to do the final repairing, yet it hangs at the part I mentioned.

May I know where went wrong?
