Renovation/ contractors in Penang

Hi, guys. Hope you'll forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place. Have been reading the forums for quite some time, but its my first time posting.

Recently bought my first house (in Penang) and am trying to make it habitable on my tight budget.

There are a few things I'm looking for

1. I plan to extend my master bedroom by closing up the small balcony with casement windows. This involves removing the existing iron railing - which oddly, the window people are not wanting to do for some reason.

2. My kitchen is very small so I plan to make a wet kitchen by putting up a polycarbonate roof (covering about 100sqft) just outside my existing kitchen and using this area as an open air kitchen cum drying area until I can afford to close the roofed area off to make a proper wet kitchen.

3. My house is sort of on a split levelled piece of land, so I want to have a metal staircase/ bridge made to bridge the split level. Maybe I'm not being very clear but it's a little hard to explain.

4. Due to a lack of storage for outdoor items ( water hose, brooms, rakes, scoops, jet wash etc) I plan to build a small store cabinet attached to the side of the house. This area is exposed to the sun/rain.

With the above things in mind, I'm looking for a contractor or anyone you guys can recommend to do the job.

So far I only have prices quoted for the roofing- which is rm28/sqftfor mild steel with polycarbonate (not sure regarding thickness) , RM 45 for wood( not sure what wood) with polycarbonate and rm85/sqft for glass (assuming laminated, not sure of frame material). These prices seem a bit much to me in comparison with those I've seen on lowyat.net but maybe you guys can give your opinions.

I'd rather split the jobs to different contractors as I found so far that when I give a few jobs to one guy, they tend to be reasonable for one or two of the items and cut throat on the rest. Then again, am open to suggestion.

Looking forward to you guys' input.

Thanks so much!
