Records Keeping Required Of Employers

Seeking feedback, comment and input from those who are in the Human Resource management - "Does your company comply fully with the requirements under Sections 61 and 44 of the Employment Act?"

Section 61

Duty to keep registers

61. (1) Every employer shall prepare and keep one or more registers containing such information regarding each employee employed by him as may be prescribed by regulations made under this Act.

Section 44

Register of allowances paid

44. Every employer shall keep a register, in a form to be prescribed by the Minister by regulations made under this Act, of all payments made to female employees under this Part and of such other matters incidental thereto as may be prescribed by such regulations.

The format and content of both registers are prescribed in the Employment Regulations 1957, specifically
Regulation 5 for Section 61 (1) EA
Regulation 4 for Section 44 EA

I have been asking around and no one seems to be aware of these two registers. As far as I know, there has been no revocation or removal of both Regulations 4 & 5 which means employers are required by law to keep such register. Even the payroll system we are using does not have these registers despite it being used to keep employees' information for calculating monthly pay and submission of contributions to LHDN, KWSP & PERKESO.

Will appreciate if there are some HR practitioners here who can shed a light on this question.

Thanks in advance.

Mileage Claim/Reimbursement For Employees (KV)

My company is currently doing a review on the reimbursement rates for car and motorcycle that employees use to travel for business purpose, eg. to meetings or to deliver documents. We are based in Kuala Lumpur and our staff travel extensively within Klang Valley daily. We do provide travel allowance besides mileage reimbursement; travel allowance is to help the employees meet the cost of commuting to work while the mileage reimbursement is to compensate the staff for the use of their personal vehicles in carrying out their official work.

Presently our rates:
Car - RM0.60/km + parking & toll charges incurred
Motorcycle - RM0.45/km + parking charges incurred

I would appreciate if fellow forummers can share what their company rates are as I am collating the data for comparison and recommendation to the management.

Thank you in advance.

Glass Door's Floor Hinger Repair/Replacement

Presently three of our office glass doors are not functioning properly in that (a) 1 door takes a long time to return to closed position, and if we push/pull it towards the closed position, there will be resistance, and (b) 2 doors' bottom scrape the floor - suspect it's the floor hinges that have gone bust as can see hydraulic fluid (black) coming out. We need to do repair/replacement ASAP to avoid not being able to enter those rooms.

The usual repairman/handyman who services us isn't confident do to the job as these doors are rather big (240cm (H) x 78cm, 118cm & 138cm (W)).

Would appreciate if anyone here, who knows of contractors/repairmen who can do such jobs, to give me a shout.

Office is in Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Raja Chulan.

Prospective contractor/repairman is welcome to visit our office for assessment before quoting.

Thank you.

Data Cable For Softlog

My office uses a photocopy cost recovery system called Softlog that comes with a unique data cable (cable itself is a CAT5 LAN cable but the one end of the connectors isn't a normal network port connector). This cable is connected to an application box that talks to a desktop computer (another set of cable) on one end and to the photocopier on the other end. All photocopying activities will be captured by the system and submitted to Accounts for billing.

Now that particular cable has been shorted (that's according to the IT guy), and the application box is not able to communicate with the photocopier. My IT guy went to some of the hardware shops in Low Yat to make inquiry as to whether this can be fabricated but none was able to help. The supplier of the system can't help either as we have an obsolete system (though it still serves us well).

Please have a look at the attached photos and if you happen to know someone who can do the fabrication, let me know so that I can get in touch with that person or company. My company is in KL by the way but I can always travel to PJ if need be to get this done.

Thanks in advance.
[attachmentid=11153365][attachmentid=11153367][attachmentid=11153368][attachmentid=11153370][attachmentid=11153372]

Columbus V900 GPS Data Logger

I am hoping someone here might be able to assist me in replacing the dying rechargeable battery of my Columbus V900 GPS Data Logger. I bought it back in 2008 and have been using it for my travels & outdoor activities - recording GPS data of my journeys.

From a 12-hour battery usage (when it was brand new) now to 1-hour (despite full charge), I am sure it's time to replace the Li-Ion battery pack.

Yes, this is an archaic object in the world of smartphones but it is one heck of a useful tool to have when it comes to trail marking and GPS mapping. And I would hate to dispose of it if I can replace its battery. Oh yes, I have a Garmin 60CSx GPS handheld device as well, and usually I use both devices to do GPS data logging so that I have back-ups just in case.

If anyone here can identify the attached battery pack and direct me to the right help, I'd appreciate that very much.

Thanks in advance.

2-Day NLP Personal Empowerment & Change Workshop

2-Day Neuro Linguistic Programming Workshop for Personal Empowerment & Change

Dates: 26 & 27 September 2020
Time: 10:00am to 5:00pm (both days)
Venue: Triune Centre KL, KL Eco City
Fee: RM350/pax

Learn how you can influence your brain behaviour through the use of language and other types of communication to enable you to "recode" the way your brain reacts, and create new and better behaviours in simple and often fun ways.

If you want to
•	be more flexible with your thoughts and feelings;
•	build genuine lasting rapport with people;
•	get rid of unhelpful thoughts or habits, and replace these with positive useful ones;
•	have ready access to resourceful states in you to get you in the right frame of mind when you want it;
•	open your mind to the possibility that you are more than you have ever imagined
then this 2-day hands-on workshop is right for you.

You will learn simple and quick ways to help yourself and those who matter to you to get "unstuck" by seemingly unwieldy problems, and how you can thereafter plan for a more compelling future.

This workshop is not an NLP certification course, but rather a selection of the essentials of NLP which can be used by lay people to help themselves and others (subject to participants’ competence) in addressing day-to-day challenges.

A note of caution: While the techniques shared in this workshop can help in overcoming a wide range of problems that a person may have, participants are advised to refrain from using these to deal with clinical or morbid psychological issues as such issues require properly trained professionals.

Click here to register before 7 September 2020 - first come first serve basis.

Your workshop instructor is Eric Yap.

He is a practicing clinical hypnotherapist who applies eclectic approaches in his therapy/ intervention work with clients using primarily hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Body language work is also used to change his clients' physiology so that change work happens much more easily and effectively.

Eric obtained his Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from London College of Clinical Hypnosis, and is certified by the International Society of Neuro-Semantic as a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

In additional to providing therapy/intervention services, Eric has also been in:
•	providing training in clinical hypnosis both in Malaysia and Singapore under the auspices of London College of Clinical Hypnosis Asia; and
•	conducting workshops on personal development and stress management in Malaysia.

Seeking Small Training Room For Rent

I am wondering if anyone here knows of economically priced venues in KL or PJ that can cater for a max of 12 pax on weekends (either Saturday or Sunday, or both days).

I need a training room to conduct workshops in September and October 2020. Hourly and daily rates will be appreciated as some of the workshops will run for 2 hours (morning) while others for a max of 2 full days (9am to 5pm).

Chupspace has rather competitive pricings while Regus doesn't have any for weekends.

It's a small commercial effort so I can't really go for upscale venues. My workshop fees are rather low as these are done at request of my students out of their course syllabus.

Just need to have tables & chairs, air-conditioned room, and whiteboard plus drinking water. Convenient parking location nearby will be a plus.

Would appreciate any heads-up or link-up.

Thank you.

Using Hypnosis To Move On With Life

Hi and good day to you, and thank you for reading my post.

If you are reading this because you feel your current situation is not helping you to get where you want to go or be who you want to be, you have come to the right place.

I am a practicing Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner with a demonstrated history of working with clients for behavioural change and personal development. I combine hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and body language and other appropriate eclectic approaches in working with my clients to achieve their desired outcomes.

I am a strong therapy/coaching services professional with a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from London College of Clinical Hypnosis, and a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming from the International Society of Neuro-Semantics.

I do both face-to-face consultation and online consultation depending on client's preference though I personally prefer face-to-face where I find the interaction is most productive.

So, what do I do? I have helped clients with problems ranging from bad habit to insomnia to phobia and low self-esteem amongst other issues. I also do group session - usually for stress management and learning self-hypnosis.

Want to know more?
Reliable Bike Mechanics in KL/PJ For Modenas Bikes

I am wondering if there's any Modenas kapchai owners here who know of reliable bike mechanics who really know how to service Modenas bikes.

The reason I am asking is because the shops around my area (Taman Segar, Cheras) can only do basic stuff for Modenas bikes - changing oil & spark plugs, chain & sprocket, the run of the mill kind of stuff.

When I asked for change of air filter for my Modenas CT100, they claimed there is no such thing as air filter for Modenas CT100! It has been 8 years since I first started using CT100 (it's really a good commuting bike for short range travel), and I have never changed the filter once. I found out about the air filter here - https://brianlifeandtech.blogspot.com/2019/...eplacement.html

I want to get the CDI looked at (very difficult to start), the fuel indicator fixed (full tank physically but it shows empty, and when near empty it shows full! ) and the electrical wiring sorted as well. Planning to use the CT100 as my leisure ride in solo touring + camping around Malaysia later this year.

Would really appreciate any info that can be shared here.

Thanks in advance.

Any Office Manager/Administrator of Law Firms here

I am an Office Manager for a law firm in Kuala Lumpur. At times my job requires research & talking to peers but Office Manager or Administrator isn't something every law firm has.

I am seeking my peers in the same line, i.e. legal services to that we can network and share work-related information & ideas/knowledge for the betterment of ourselves and to make our lives a little bit easier on the job (those who work in such position will know what I mean ).

If you are an Office Manager or Administrator for a law firm and are generous enough to share your skills, knowledge & expertise please PM me. I'll update you accordingly as soon as there are 6 to 10 of us being networked.

Cheers.

Help Needed In Conducting A Survey On Lawyers' Sal

I have been assigned the task of finding out how much lawyers are earning here in Malaysia (particularly Klang Valley but other locations are welcomed too).

I'll be making phone calls (groan.... ) and hopefully won't get a earful from the law firms I'm going to call (I don't think they will take kindly to outsiders asking such P&C question ). As a back-up, I would appreciate it if any of you can help (especially those who know or are the bosses of law firms or those who are handling payroll in a law firm).

The info I need is pretty basic:-
1. Name of law firm
2. Salary for a freshie lawyer
3. Salary scale for a lawyer with 1 - 2 years' experience
4. Salary scale for a lawyer with 3 - 4 years' experience
5. Salary scale for a lawyer with 5 - 6 years experience
7. Salary scale for a lawyer with more than 6 years' experience
8. Annual increment range if a lawyer sticks with the same firm year in year out

No names will be included in my report to my boss. Just Items 1 - 8 above.

Would really appreciate some help in this case.

Thanks in advance

"Connection Terminated" While Trying To Connect

I just subscribed to DiGi Broadband's Discovery package.

After the routine installation process, I tried to connect to the internet. The signal was strong. But the moment I clicked on the CONNECT button, I get the message "CONNECTION TERMINATED" (please see attachment). This happened to both my DELL notebooks (Inspiron 640M). However, when I run the Huwei E160E modem on a desktop PC, no problem - everything went on smoothly (can surf the net much faster compared to Maxis Broadband).

I am wondering if the problem lies with DELL notebooks. According to the sales outlet which I signed up for DiGi Broadband, they do not encourage their customers to use DELL notebooks as they are problematic. Is this true?

If not, is there anyone who is able to shed some light as to what is the most likely problem and how to resolve it?

I run:-
Grisoft AVG (patched up to date)
PC Tools Firewall Plus
Spybot Search & Destroy
Windows Defender
as protection but I doubt these have anything to do with the termination of connection.

Hardware wise ought not have any problem as well as these units come directly from DELL with no self-upgrade.

I have been able to use the WiFi, Bluetooth & LAN features on both notebooks with other networks & routers.

If someone can point me to the right direction, I will most appreciate it.

I supposed in worst case scenario I might have to reformat my hard disk (as these have many security applications so I am not sure if that's the cause of the problem). Perhaps a clean install will solve the problem.

Thanks in advance.
