Upgrading A Gaming Laptop

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has any experience upgrading gaming laptops? I have a 2 year old Alienware 14 that I havent touched in months after getting my rig built mid of last year. I am really hoping to upgrade mainly the graphics card as it's currently a GTX 765m and can only run my games that I play now on medium settings at best. I think the processor is still good, it's an i7 4700MQ so I'm guessing it's still viable? My biggest worry is that due to it being a laptop my options on an upgrade is fairly limited and there isn't anyone to do it for me. I am hoping to upgrade the graphics card to a GTX 970m at least so it can run games on high settings smoothly, but with that the worry of the battery power not being enough comes up. I have minimal experience with computer hardware and next to no experience with laptop hardware. So I'm really hoping if anyone that is a sifu at this can tell me a thing or two. And how much it would cost to upgrade it, cause if the cost is too high, might as well get a new gaming laptop. The reason I'm needing to upgrade this is that I've just recently finished my A levels exams and there's a fairly decent chance for me to go overseas to put it modestly. So, can't pack it in a luggage bag and bring my entire set up to uni kan? Haha. My laptop ni would be portable enough to bring overseas so I can still game a bit while studying. So if anyone can help advice, please do! I'm really looking if it can be done or not, where to get the upgrade parts or who can actually do it(if any shops or person) and how much it would cost. First Time Builder, Help and Advice Needed

Hey guys, first time builder here. These are the stuff I was thinking about getting? Was wondering if they would work/are compatible/are okay to build and run the games that I'm playing. Needless to say, I'd want the games on high/ultra settings when playing

The Build:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4460
MOBO: ASRock H97 Pro4
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue
ODD: LiteOn 24x DVD-RM SATA IHAS324
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX960 2GB
PSU: Seasonix M12II 80+ Bronze 520W or CM Silent Pro 80+ Gold 520W
Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-02

So is this alright? Really need advice before plunging into this. Budget's around 2-3k, the lower the better I guess?

No Media Thumbdrive

Hey guys. I was hoping if anyone could help me with a problem with my thumb drive? What happened was that I put a few videos for me to watch in there on my TV. My friend said it could be used as a HDD. My mistake for trusting him.

When I plugged it into the hdd port on the TV, nothing happened, it was unreadable. So I plugged it back into my PC. To my surprise and shock, it turned from "PSThumbdrive"(The name I gave it) to "Removable Disk (F:)". I tried to open it but the message "Please insert a disk to drive F:" keeps on showing up. I have tried going online and finding solutions but no dice. The change path solution(letters) doesn't help and I can't format/reallocate anything because it detects it as no media.

I have reinstalled/updated the driver and everything and still no results. I even plugged it into a friend's laptop and it doesn't even show up! Plugged it back into mine, shows up but turns out it's been hidden(traslucent icon) for some reason. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a fix?

The thumbdrive is unbranded, it just says "generic usb flash disk usb device". I got it from GH's Black Friday sale. It's the PlayStation Thumbdrive.

If anyone can help, I'll really appreciate it. Thanks!
