Lost Wallet in Europe

So my brother managed to lose his wallet a couple of days ago here in Europe, so we called the bank (CIMB BANK) to notify about the lost cards. Fortunately the cards were found a few hours later as the perpetrators were only interested in the cash. We then contacted the bank to ask for the cards to be reactivated, however to our surprise that options was not available. The credit card department mentioned that it would take them 2 weeks to send a new card and charges would apply.

As for the AMT/Debit Card the only option is to walk into bank and get a replacement as the owner needs to present his/her IC. Another frustrating issue is that CIMB had also frozen the online banking ( CIMBCLICKS) which means there is no way of managing funds, paying bills etc. This is a great hassle especially for those who are traveling a lot.

Anyway was hoping to get users here to share their experiences as well recommending a bank/credit card company which is travel friendly as both my brother and I are avid travellers.

Hi there,

I am a director for a very small family company. Just recently we set up a Sdn Bhd. This also means that we need to keep track of our accounts for each year. I would like to get some suggestions and recommendations of what software I should use.

For the company we are mainly in trading. Which means we buy products and sell. Documentation normally involves

1) Invoicing
2) Purchase Orders
3) Delivery Orders

I would like to use a simple program which is not too complicated. Please help

Dangers On the Highways

2 Weeks ago I had to rush down to Singapore for an event, so I had no choice but to drive down. Not that I was complaining, I love to drive on the highway. But something happened that night which really pissed me off. As I was driving on the second link highway the road was really dark coz no street lights driving about 110-120km suddenly there was an object in the middle of the road.

You could hardly see it, before you i could even do anything i drove on top of it, luckly it just hit the under carriage with a loud klung! sound. If im not mistaken it was whole wheel on the road. Then after crossing the second link i realised that the wheel or whatever it was had taken out my lower bumper. I was really pissed. And to make things even more sad about Malaysia is what i found out when i did some searching on goggle .

According to this article http://www.enginelounge.com/2009/07/30/accidents-we-love/

I just realised that the thing was there for a reason, to cause an accident. People put weird stuff on the road to make sure you almost die or die so that they can tow you car away. Like what the F**k right. Anyone had some experience like this please do share, it would help a great deal for everyone to know these hot spots.

HDD unreadable

Hey guys and gals

I have one small problem here, just got a new system installed

1- New Mobo GA-MA770-DS3
2- New GPU Nvidia 9500GT
3- New RAM 2GB DDR2 Kingston 800
4- New Processor AMD athlon 5000+

HDD that is unreadable: WD2500KS

Now everything works fine expect for one of my Hardrives is listed as dynamic, unreadable with a capacity of 0MB when i check using disk manager. In the BIOS the HDD is detected without problems. I've downloaded the WD diagnosis tool and it checks the disk as being OK and even detects the capacity.

In Disk manager I have the option of converting the HDD to basic disk however that means losing all data on it, which I would try my best to avoid.

Please help

Some of you might remember this and some would be probably be wondering why we paid RM 1650 for a Pentium with only 120Mhz.
Tips to save fuel

Here are some tips that you can deploy to save fuel and save money. Hope you guys find it useful, cheers.

1. Check the air pressure of your tyres to make sure they are fully inflated according to recommended pressure.

The optimal pressure can normally be found on the side of the driver's door. If you are uncertain, check with your mechanic. Don't think that it's like pumping a bicycle tyre, where you fill it till its rock hard.

Not only do you save fuel, but you keep ensure a longer life span of the tyres. Check the pressure monthly.

2. Check your Air Filter, if it's dirty or you can't remember the last time it was replaced. Replace it. If you can't get a new one make sure it is not clogged, as it could increase fuel consumption by 10%. Changing the air filter is a fairly easy task to do by yourself , it will only take you 5 mins, so try it out.

3. Reduce the usage of your air-conditioning, I know it's hard to resist when we have such heat in this country. But if you feel you need to save fuel by all means turn off the air-conditioning. However bare in mind that when travelling at speeds of 80 km/h it is better to have the air-con on then your windows down due to the drag in aerodynamic.

4. Drive in high gear; try to keep the revs between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. To maintain these revs, change up as soon as practical before your engine reaches 2,500 rpm.

5. Drive calmly; avoid unnecessary abrupt braking, this can be minimized by not tailgating cars in front and anticipating other drivers on the road. Listen to some jazz on the radio to calm your nerves. Some researchers say that heavy metal makes your foot heavier which will result in more fuel wasted.

6. Replace spark plugs when you do your oil change that's every 50,000 km and do check the condition of the plugs from time to time to ensure that there are no damages to them.

7. When your car is idling, turn off the engine if it's more than 30 sec, this way you will save on fuel and the environment.

8. Replace spark plug wires. Old wires could lead to misfiring in the engine that means a waste of unburned fuel.

9. Minimize aerodynamic drag, additional parts on the exterior of the car will increase the air resistance and fuel consumption. Sometimes up to a staggering 20%. I know most of are patriotic, wanting to parade around the national flag especially after the 50th Merdeka Celebration. But all you are doing is increasing the fuel consumption and wasting money.

10. Get rid of all the unnecessary junk that adds weight to the car. Remember the heavier the car, the more fuel it will need to get the car moving.

Motor Shows for the weekend

Here is a small update on what is happening in KL for the coming week. Perhaps most of you would already know about the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race which will be held this Saturday, 25 August 2007. Not really sure about why, but the its only going to cost RM0.50, thats right only fifty cents per entry. Maybe they are getting desperate, who knows.

On Sunday, 26 August 2007 the KL Autosalon will be having a launch part and drift demo for the upcoming Auto Salon which will be held on the 8-9 September 2007. First price for the competition will receive RM3000, be featured in the 2008 Japan Auto Salon, and they will even fly you there. Made a small write up and upload pictures & videos from the even which you guys can check out here
-----------> Monash Motorshow Pt. 1
-----------> Monash Motorshow Pt.2

p/s: Does anyone know about a tuner motor show that will be held in Cyberjaya this weekend ?

What is the Best Malaysian Car?

After ranting and complaining about our locally made cars, I said wait a minute. All we do is talk negatively about our national cars, most of the times. We can pin point each and every flaw the Proton or the Perodua vehicles. So lets talk about the best Malaysian car in history so far. Let us take into consideration of performance, comfort, safety, handling, value etc. It can be as old as a Proton Saga or as new as a Myvi.

So tell lets discuss and argue which Malaysian made car was and is the best.

Tyre Balancing or Alignment for RM9.90

I recently checked out this new place called fasfik, to my surprise it was nothing that i was expecting. A workshop with an online database system, friendly staff members and a clean workshop. Ok the price was another surprising factor, just RM9.90. It doesnt get any better then that. The chain of workshops is quite new, so I would assume that not many people know about the workshops yet. Check the review here---> Fasfik Review Page .

Its a bargain when you think of the price and the amount of potholes we have in Malaysia. So cheap you can make it a monthly service. Anyway would love to hear from you guys what you think.

Beware of customer support centers javascript:emot

Recently I had my computer sent to Cycom customer service center as It was unable to turn on, i suspected that i was my PSU. Anyway i sent it there as the main components were bought from Cycom. To my surprise the technician told me that it the problem was the PSU and my Graphics Card.

I was really surprised as how both those would result in my computer not being able to turn on. I sent my PSU for warranty check, and I purchased a new Graphics Card from a different shop. When I got back to test my PC, I was shocked that the old Graphics card was working fine and that there was nothing wrong with it.

I guess its partially my fault for not testing the card with the new PSU first before purchasing a new graphic card but the moral is we cant trust people. I mean its like everyone wants to cheat, it just pisses me off big time. coz we are suppose to be Malaysians, friendly honest etc.

So yeah just be careful the next time you send you computer for repairs, thats my advice to you, and dont trust anyone especially tech support people.

cheers.

hello everyone

I had a problem yesterday when i just finished downloading 2 exe file and was about to scan it, i right click the file and my computer started hanging so i reboot and tried again and it hang again. after a few tries i notice my c drive was running out of space from 1gb it was going down rapidly and it was about 55mb, i started transferring important documents from c drive to another drive and it slowed down. started all the scans, from there on it was goin up and down. i free up some space in my c drive and it was at about 8 gbs but it was goin up and down by like 0.02 gbs, did everything, pageviews, cookies files. I decided to scan for files that was bigger than 100mb and i found a few temp file name PR19.tmp - PR 200.tmp which was taking up space like mad. Some where 800mb, some were 100 mb. I cleared up the temp file and rebooted my pc, suddenly from 8gbs it became 10gbs. is this a virus? Please help, this is really worrying. Thanks

Custom Mousepad

With all the moding done, i just wondered if anyone out there has every created their very own mousepad, coz Im sure most you would agree that the professional mousepads out there are quite pricey for and looking at the material its normally made from plastic or some metal alloy. Others like the mats you can find in All IT, are made from rubber foam it cost about 50 to 70 bucks. which is a lot.

Right now im using a cut out from a mounting board pasted to my table, its great but the drawback is that it wears out after countless hours of gaming. Im planning to purchase a thin metal sheet and then wrap it with PVC leather, coz they have something like it in IKEA, which is 125 bucks. Not sure if its good for a gaming though. Anyway let us share some ideas and opinions.
