Thai teenage badminton player first doping case at Asian Games: Testers

NAGOYA – Thai women’s badminton player Pitchamon Opatniputh became the first known doping case at the Asian Games in Japan on Sept 21, testers said.

The 19-year-old returned a positive sample for the banned substance furosemide and has been provisionally suspended, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said.

The teenager, who is ranked 18th in the world and regarded as a rising star back home, had been due to face China on Sept 22 in the women’s team quarter-finals.

The first full day of badminton action at Asia’s biggest sporting spectacular was on Sept 20.

“The athlete is prevented from competing, training, coaching or participating in any activity during the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026,” the ITA said.

The agency noted that Pitchamon can challenge the provisional suspension at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

“The athlete also has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample,” it added.

Furosemide can be used by competitors to excrete water for rapid weight loss. The sample was collected by the ITA during out-of-competition testing on Sept 17.

This season, Pitchamon lost in the finals of the Indonesia Masters and Orleans Masters and reached the semi-finals of her home Thailand Open. AFP

QUOTE

Dear Saudara Anthony Loke Siew Fook (Secretary General, Democratic Action Party)

(cc Saudara Khoo Poay Tiong, National Organising Secretary)

I am writing to inform you that I am resigning as a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) effective on the 31st of August 2026. My membership number is S04-1916-0142612.

I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the party and the country in different ways since I joined the party in 2012 – as a Member of Parliament for Serdang (2013 to 2018) and Member of Parliament for Bangi (2018 to 2022), as a Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) (2018 to 2020), as an appointed member of the Central Executive Committee (2019 to 2022) and as an elected member of the DAP Selangor state committee (2018 to 2024).

I especially want to thank Saudara Tony Pua for inviting me to join the party and for providing me with the guidance on how to best serve the party and the country over the past 14 years as a DAP member. I am also grateful to Saudara Lim Guan Eng for providing me with the opportunity to be nominated as a candidate for the parliamentary seats of Serdang and Bangi and as a Deputy Minister during his time as Secretary General of the DAP.

It has been my pleasure and honor to work with the DAP members and leaders in Serdang and Bangi during my time as a Member of Parliament from 2013 to 2022, serving the voters and residents of those constituencies as their elected representative.

I am not planning to join another political party in the near future and I will not be seeking to contest as a candidate in the next general election (GE16).

I remain committed to fulfil the promise I made on the 10th of January 2026, to help Khairy Jamaluddin campaign in GE16, if he is given a seat to run in.

I will continue to serve the interests of the country through other means including on my podcast (“Are We OK”), through my various advisory positions and by working with other like-minded people with common interests.

Happy Merdeka Day!

WCE Highway make driver sleepy.Anyone experience?

FreedomSeeker — Tue, 24 Feb 2026 11:20:32 +0800

Ayam work a lot on outstation from KL jobs. KL-JB, KL- Penang/Alor Setar, KL-Kuantan-K.Terengganu-Kota Bharu or Kota Bharu-Gua Musang-KL. Never once feel sleepy but somehow this WCE route from Lekir Toll to Sg. Nyior R&R I always feel sleepy need to keep biting some snack or candy or drink. Twice drive this route twice also feel the same at the same place. Confirm need to stop a while at Sg. Nyior R&R Northbound. But then if I from North to KL tak ada sleepy pulak.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Dear People of Tomorrow,
‍

At 10:00 this morning, doors to DreamVille (campsite) have opened to welcome all DreamVille visitors. All Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp will also take place today.
‍
It’s impossible to put into words what we’re feeling.
‍

The Orbyz Mainstage of Tomorrowland Belgium 2025, a creation born from pure passion, imagination, and dedication, is no more.
‍

This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world. From the very first sketch on a blank page, to countless hours of conceptual design, artistic collaboration, engineering, crafting, building, every single piece of Orbyz carried part of our soul.
‍

But, we hold on to the magic Orbyz gave us.
To the dreams it carried. To the team who gave their all.
‍
We spent the night working on possible solutions for the Mainstage area.
No other parts of the festival venue, stages or areas were impacted.
‍

All detailed info about the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday) will follow in the upcoming hours.
‍

With love.
