How I decided on the MBA 13 over MBP 13

Hi everyone,

Just like most people, I had a tough time trying to decide if I should get a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air. The Pro is so much cheaper at its base offering and yet offers higher processing capabilities. I have done some research on both models and I'd like to just highlight how I came about to my decision in hopes this may also help some of you out there.

I've created a table of comparison but what I did was to only highlight components or specific features that are either critically different or may impact my purchasing decision. Hence, I left out items like Facetime HD as well as the Intel HD4000 which are similar on both models.

If you see the chart, the MBP wins hands down when it comes to comparing feature to feature. However, I put in another column which highlights the impact a particular feature has on me. The MBA addresses 2 areas which has a Critical Impact and 1 area which has a High Impact. On the contrary, the MBP only addresses 2 areas which has a High Impact to me.

Different people will evaluate the chart differently but I hope this may help some of you out there.

Workflow for 128GB SSD MBA

Hi everyone,

I just want to get your opinion on what you recommend as a workflow if I don't intend to fork out an additional RM900 to upgrade the MBA 13" SSD from 128 to 256GB. I know it's always best to get the highest amount of storage but RM900 is too big a stretch. To compensate for the lack of storage, I intend to get the maximum 8GB RAM so that less caching is required on the SSD.

If I settle for 128GB of SSD, will I be able to get satisfactory performance by offloading work files, images and other large files to the SDXC card? My idea is to keep all the installed software on the SSD while the work files will be placed on the SDXC card which I intend to leave in the slot permanently.

Additionally, what is the available storage upon first boot of the MBA 128GB?
