Company sending me to a course but want to reject

Hi guys,

I really need your opinion on this.

I am currently working in the private sector and have been with this company for 2 years. I am also a business degree holder where I attained it in Australia.
However, I see there is no career progression in the company and my salary is under the 1,500.00 mark. I have decided to move on and have been looking for opportunities elsewhere. To date, I have not received any calls for interviews as of yet. Having said this, if I ever resign, the notice period I require to serve is three months. Adding to that, my position is of the administrative one. Not a managerial position.

My company has sent me an e-mail this morning to send me on a three-day course in May. I DO NOT intend to sign it. I have also not submitted my resignation yet as I intend to secure a new job with a better paid salary and a career progression route. My former colleague encountered a similar situation where the company paid for the course (but yet to attend it), she then submitted her resignation and the company ultimately decided to hold her liable for the fees, above the 1,000.00 mark.

I wish to avoid a similar situation. How should I go about this? I am going to submit my resignation as soon as I secure a new job.

Appreciate your feedback and opinions on this, guys.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I have been called up for a written test for the position of Legal Affairs Officer. Has anyone ever sat for such written test? Was wondering what kind of test would this be. I don't suppose it will be the same as other psychometric tests.

Appreciate if anyone could share their experience if they've had done before.

Hi guys,

Just wondering what is the average salary for an investment analyst for fresh graduates? Graduated couple years ago and have already had a few years in a corporate environment under my belt along with a finance degree, and was wondering what is the range of salary for an investment analyst as an associate only. I am keen in pursuing the position.

Hi guys,

I have just been invited by Brunei Shell Petroleum to come in and take the E-Assessment (written test) next week. Was wondering if anybody ever taken any e-assessment (written test) on a similar regard in other companies?

They have not specifically noted anything or emphasised anything on its relevance what test it's going to be - just E-Assessment (written test).

Would be great if anybody could share some tips and loops on that and obviously would great if anybody could share their similar experience.

Thanks.

Grounderz
Cannot Google on Safari but OK on Chrome?

Hi guys,

I am getting a major issue with Google on Safari (am using a Macbook). This message pops out each time I attempt a Google search on the address bar of Safari or the Google webpage.

"We're sorry... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."

No issues on Chrome, though. I have also tried rebooting the router externally and internally, restarted my Macbook - but still this problem persists. There was also no CAPTCHA box for me to verify myself as a human over a robot.

Does anyone know of a solution to the issue?

Grounderz

Can a new employee terminate agreement?

I write here on behalf of a friend who is seeking for advice in what to do and if there is any solution to this. Would appreciate if you guys can provide feedback on this.

My friend has worked for the company for more than 5 years and he/she felt it's time to move on and face new challenges. He/she handed in his/her resignation letter, commenced her notice period and subsequently signed for another company of different nature of business.

His/her new employment is scheduled to commence half a month from now.

After some time and speaking to family, friends, colleagues and everybody he/she knows, he/she wishes to get back to the company and terminate the agreement whom he/she has had in place with his/her new employer. The old company wants him/her back as well but does not know he/she has already signed for another company. The company has also urged him/her to take unpaid leaves and do whatever she needs to do (the reason his/her resignation being).

Is there anything he/she can do to go back to his/her company?

Who is right as who is wrong?

Hey guys, I've got a situation here and was wondering if I could gather your thoughts on this.

Suppose you live in a bangalow and you've got two automatic cars parked right next to each other. The driveway behind the cars is blocked by a car on manual. If the manual car is not moved, none of the automatic cars will be able to exit. Besides, the owner of the manual car is asleep so they decided to give it a try.

Person A and B are newbies to manual but they are experienced drivers of automatic. Among these two, Person B has the most recent experience of driving a manual so the right decision is to let Person B move the manual car.

Out on the road is a slope, Person B managed to exit in reverse with its butt out towards the downhill of the slope but as he reversed and turned to exit, there is another car parked behind. In order to get past it, Person B needs to move the car forward to allow some space before reversing again.

The car was quickly put to a stop due to the danger of the slope, and Person A raced over to help. Although the tone of Person A is a little panicking but quickly urged Person B to pull up the e-brake before he tries to do anything. After all, it's a slope. Person B, who apparently and seemingly was also in a panic mode, frustratingly tried to find ways to do it and ignored Person A. Person A repeatedly urged him to pull up the e-brake.

Person B lost his temper and sarcastically told Person A to do it instead. Person A tried to explain that he is trying to work things through together and the first thing is to pull the e-brake before they go further.

Person A tried to do it but dare not risk it, decided that the right thing to do is to wake the owner of the manual car to move it instead since Person B sarcastically told him to do it and ignored. During this time, Person B managed to move out one of the automatic car as there is enough space and then took over the manual car and managed to drive in after engine died a few times.

Person B is currently in the attitude mode and not talking to Person A. So who is right and who is wrong?

Presentation - need help!

Hi folks,

We've got a very random training session coming up in our company and one of them is to brush up our presentation skills. So the head of the department has chosen a random topic and my group is to present Microsoft Word. Basically, the objective of our presentation is to demonstrate something new and uncommon to the day-to-day use of features.

Does anybody have any special/unique idea about a very useful tip or feature about Microsoft Word that I could present about? Would be great if someone could share something about it.

Is it right to do that? Are they wrong?

Guys, I've got a situation that needs your thoughts and opinions about which party is right or wrong.

Say Grandmother, of 95 aged and Buddhism, just passed away and the families are at the funeral. Family A, of Taoism, arrived and paid their respect. Regardless of their differences in religion, they still hold the incensed sticks and pray.

Family B, of Christianity, arrived 10 minutes after but they declined to take the incensed sticks. Breadwinner of Family A is furious and knew that they were always going to refuse, quickly approached the breadwinner of Family B and urged them to follow suit. Family B was very insistent and said they do not believe in the incensed sticks and that they have the right to refuse.

So, in your opinion, what can you gather from this and is it right for Family B to refuse?

How to watch Mac-formatted hard drive on Windows?

Hey guys,

I seem to have a problem watching movies on a desktop with my Mac-formatted external hard drive. I own a MacBook Pro mid-2010, 15 inch. The external hard drive I use is a WD brand for Mac only, but the promoter had told me initially that it can be formatted for Windows too if need be.

However, with the Mac-formatted external hard drive plugged into the PC, it cannot be read. I tried using all the USB ports on the PC, to no success. Is there another way for me to watch the movies on a desktop with my Mac-formatted hard drive without having to transfer all the movies to my MacBook Pro and reformat the external hard drive? This is too lengthy a process and tedious.

Would be happy if someone could share a tip in this. Thanks.
