Angkor Wat, Siem Riep & Phnom Pehn

I just went to Angkor Wat, which is one of the most famous World Heritage in Cambodia, last month. While I did not see many people posting the thread regarding Cambodia, I would like to share my experience with you. The place is abundant with history and cultures. Visit it before the crowd getting larger and larger.

Best time to visit is November onwards - dry and cool. I flew by AirAsia, which only took about 2 hours ++ After the tour, I evaluated and the cost was somewhere around RM 1000 - 1200, inclusive everything. Pretty much visiting most of the popular places and experiencing popular activities there - Tonle Sap lake, Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom (Tomb Raider acting scene), Cultural Village, watching Apsara dance twice (Similar to traditional Thai dance), foot massaging, eating traditional Khmer food, ruin trekking in Beng Melea .....

Overall, the experience is just awesome. The sunrise in Angkor Wat was breath taking! I missed the sunset though. The tour guide said that the Angkor Wat changes colour from day to evening, gold colour during sunset! Climbing to the top of the Angkor Wat was a BIG challenge if you are afraid of heights. DO wear comfortable shoes! I wore sandals and almost slip from the staircase! One foreign woman died after falling from the stair several years ago, her husband sponsored a stair rail there afterwards. So, choose the one with stair handrail to ascend or descend. There are 4 stairs and only one got handrail.

The Tonle Sap is the biggest inland freshwater lake in South East Asia. Very impressive sunset there. Also, a good view of how the people live in the floating boat.

The food was unexpectedly delicious. It resembled Thai and Vietnamese food but not spicy. Try the dish called Amok with fish. If you like dragon fruit, this is heaven for you. For the dinner + show, I paid USD 8++ for the buffet and 4-5 traditional shows. The show costumes were so colourful and shinning! Buffet was average but wide variety.

People there are very kind. I felt quite safe to walk around. For your info, we were 3 guys and 3 girls. No trouble to walk around even at midnight. Tour guide and most of the travel-related people can speak fluent English and even Mandarin.

To summarise, this place is just totally out of my expectations. Will post some photos to share later.

For Taxi Services, please contact Mr Tang Sarith at tangsarith2005@yahoo.com
he is one of the head of taxi association group E, if i am not mistaken~posted by juichuan

More Info on Cambodia trips:

Siem Riep & Angkor Archeology Park (AAP)

AAP Maps & list of Temples: http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtemples.htm

Siem Riep Map: http://www.canbypublications.com/maps/srmapmain.htm

Tonle Sap, Kampong Phluk & IKampong Khleang: http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtonlesap.htm

Phnom Pehn & Killing Field:

tourist info: http://www.canbypublications.com/phnompenh/ppintro.htm

Maps: http://www.canbypublications.com/maps/phno...ambodia-map.htm

Transportation, Hiring of Tuk-Tuk or Remork, car, van & also buses between PP & SR

http://www.canbypublications.com/siemreap/srtransp.htm
