MacBook

Hi guys,

I need to get a MacBook for my younger brother who is starting his design course/Uni in Singapore. I see the list price for the new MacBook entry at RM3,899. But in Singapore, you can get a new one at SGD1,548 = RM3560 (at exchange rate of 2.3).

The catch is, in Msia, the reseller MIGHT have 12month free installment, but the one in Singapore has 10% education discount if buying for uni students (the price i show already has the 10% discount). Assuming i have the cash to pay one lump sum, its better just to buy in Singapore?

And btw, is the MacBook entry level good enough for graphics design courses in Uni?

Need some advice guys, thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Joc

Standlone router or Combo router?

Hi, i tried looking through the FAQs and Pinned post but can't really seem to find the answer to which setup is better?

Setup A: phone line ---> modem ---> {router ---> Wifi Access Point} ---> PCs

Setup B: phone line ---> Combo router ---> PCs

i bracketed Setup A's router and Wifi cause they normally come as 1 now, as its economically a wiser choice too, but i personally run each of them separately, with the assumption that, less tasks for the device to handle = the better the speed and efficiency.

So would the assumption that Setup A is better, correct?

thanks.
JK
