how to make program like Windows Desktop Search?

hi... i'm still new here... had search here but not find about related...

i'm planning to do some research on how to make a program like "Windows Desktop Search" integrate on our Windows Desktop...? i'm not in for Windows Desktop Search (WDS) but want to make my own program which can be integrate to Windows desktop taskbar like Windows Desktop Search (WDS) or Google Desktop Search...

I have search on google for related but found only about WDS SDK & API... Is it related with what i want...? or is it only related to WDS only...?

plz guide me... link or something...
