Is scouts relevant these days?

Is there a reason to join scouts now and then? I mean you can't really apply what you learn in scouts, eg knot tying, make fire, making wooden tower etc in your real life. If you say that camping can make you survive in a jungle, then why on earth that you'll be in a jungle and stuck in the first place? What makes you think that you'll be in a jungle?
Personally, I prefer red cross cause you'll know how to take care of others and yourself, and learn much more useful stuff than you do in scouts. And don't say that scouts promotes discipline and friendship and stuff, those elements can be attained in other societies.
Seriously, scouts is way outdated and serves no purpose. What do you think?

CIVIL ENG. NO NEED PHYSICS AND MATHS

Education on Video Games

I'm a video gamer. I got ps1, ps2 and ps3. I used to play computer games. If you have been wondering whether I'm in the wrong forum ( supposedly in Consoles Couch ). No, I'm not because I'm not sharing or discussing my passion here. I'm writing to clarify that there's misunderstanding that most people thought about com/video games, especially the "fact" that it affects student's performance in exams/tests and declining their interest in studies. Firstly, my parents always show me some newspaper articles that there are people died from playing computer games or just become insane from it. No doubt, I've seen it with my own eyes that the gamer died like a zombie while still holding a keyboard and "staring" at the monitor. But do you ask yourself why he died from playing computer games? That's because he OVERPLAYED it ( hence over-do), for straight more than 10 hours. Seriously, anything you have overdone is not good for you. It's like playing basketball, if you play for really long time, your arms will be swollen, some serious muscle tear, and worse, you might get achilles tendon. Stop blaming computer games. If this person is more disciplined enough or his parents/friends advice him, that horrible incident wouldn't happen. I know media ( esp newspapers ) reported the truth of the case, but that doesn't mean that computer games/ C.G is all behind this and take all the blame. There's really nothing wrong playing C.G if spent for decent amount of time.

Another problem related to this is that people always find computer/ video games are waste of time. People, if you never play C/V games before, please don't judge a book by its cover. For me, who have played ps1 since primary school, attest that it is NOT, instead it is very beneficial if you know how to make use of it. For example, I played many RPGs ( role playing games, which emphasis on story-telling and leveling up characters ) in my life, and the more I play them, the more my command of English has improved because such games usually have heavy texts with very high quality in the language since most games that I play are made in U.S ( or localized ver of Japanese games). Besides that, I've learned to appreciated art as usually such games having settings of various environment, while fictional, they are really jaw-dropping as I really carefully observe the colours, design of the in-game buildings,
the physical appearance of characters, etc. In short, I've learned a lot. Sometimes, I even pity those who never play VG before as I've experienced rich storyline and amazing fictional characters and I learn English with ease. Some of you think that this hobby is kinda childish and expose less to outside world, but hey, at least it's better than smoking, taking drugs, gambling, or just as worse. It's like saying I prefer to watch Power Rangers than watching porn, seriously I would rather watch that if you ask me.

I still got some ideas to share but I guess it's already quite long and leave the rest in future. I'm writing this to those who never play VG or need to research about VG ( eg how does it affect psychologically etc ), so hopefully I'm in the right forum. Actually I'm writing this mainly I'm kinda sick of people talk negatively about it, especially my parents. I'm here to say I'm proud to play VG and would rather spend more time on it.

Even if anyone still can't accept VG as a good hobby, at least please RESPECT those who do. Thank you for reading.

HELP ME CREATE A COUPLET OR ONE-LINER

I'm not good in literature myself but I really need your expertise on this:

"Forcing people to do things they don't like is never good, encouraging or persuade them to do is always better, even they don't like to do."

But I find this statement above is kinda long. I want more catchy version of this. Might want to use in essay in future.
Any other suggestions are welcomed. I don't mind you can make a rap or song version of this.
