hi all,
I bought an Aorus x570 itx motherboard together with an entire rig from a known builder 2 years ago.
Recently, came to known that there's an issue with the motherboard after sending it back to the builder as it fails to boot.

The builder helped to claim warranty from Aorus but Aorus replied with "MB unit PCB burn out and cannot be repair as this unit is damaged by user." and they rejected the claim.

I have not done any overclocking with the mobo ever.
is there anything i could do?
Please advise

Question on setting up another modem

Hi netizens,

i am kind of a noob in networking so pls go easy on me.

Situation:
ok so i m staying in a 2 story house.
Currently there is a TM modem router(telephone line at the ground floor connected to this modem DSL port) sitting in the ground floor living room(wifi here is ok).
However, wifi signal is weak when i m in my room which is on the first floor.
Recently, I have found out that there's is another telephone line in the first floor living room.

Question:
Can i get another modem + router and connect to the telephone line in the living room on the first floor and making it another wifi source? (if this is possible, does the configuration have to be the same as the one on the ground floor? e.g. same SSID)
Or do i only get to use it if i subscribe for another Internet plan from any ISP (e.g TM)? (Meaning having 2 Internet plans in a house, one at the ground floor another at the first floor)

Edit:
currently using 10mbps unifi

Hi sifus,

here is my situation:
Modem is located at the same floor as my desktop and quite near too. However near also, cannot use cable for some reason so don't suggest cable.
Currently my wifi adapter only supports 2.4GHz wifi. my modem do support 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wireless.
Lags when i play online game especially when family using wifi. they are only using 2.4Ghz wireless because they are not aware of the 5Ghz so i thought i could be the only one utilizing the 5Ghz wireless.
does getting an adapter that supports 5ghz wireless solve my issue?
if it does, do recommend me some quality adapters.
My internet package is 10mbps if that info helps.
budget around rm 200.

Been looking for a new monitor. please recommend a reliable monitor.

usages:
-some games like dota 2, dmc 5 (not really hardcore/competitive)
-stream a lot movies/ dramas online, twitch and youtube
-read PDF eBooks
-coding sometimes.

requirements:
->=24"
-minimum 1080
-nice colour production
-low response time
-VA or IPS (No TN panels)
-prefer bezel-less but still open to those with thin bezels.
-have height adjustment, tilt and rotate feature.
-144hz?(Do I need this? will this increase the quality of media watching experience?)

was eyeing on the Samsung LC24FG73FQEXXM but unable to find it anywhere in lowyat.
Phone or SIM faulty

Hi serious /k,

I'm not really sure this is phone or SIM card problem.
The case:
Every once in a while my phone is unable to receive calls or SMS. After restarting phone only the SMS will come in and the missed calls.
When this happens, I usually try some apps that require phone verification via SMS. I won't receive the SMS. After restarting the phone only the SMS is received.
And this problem happens without a notification. The phone line bar stays will still show 3G and I am still able to use data but just unable to receive and make calls or SMS.

Not sure how to test this since I need to use my SIM card and the problem doesn't just strike in a fixed period after phone reboot.
After reboot, the problem will go away for like a few days (didn't keep track). Then after a few days the problem strikes again and have to reboot again.

I am currently using Digi prepaid service and a Xiao mi m A2 lite(still under warranty) phone.

faulty electronics

Hi serious /k,
my pc is currently powered using a 4 way extension plug.
i have a table fan, 2 monitor power cables and a pc power cable connected to the 4 way extension plug.
Case 1:
for one of the plug when i connect to my pc, the USB port on the pc shocks me whenever i touch it. However after i change the power plug connection of the pc to a different power plug of that extension, there are no more shocks when i touch the USB port.

Case 2:
whenever i press on the fan mode button, my main monitor turns black for like 1-2 seconds and turns back normal. is this problem caused by the extension plug or just something wrong with my monitor?
edit: the monitor also goes black for a few seconds(sometimes) when a particular switch in the same room is switched on and off

I am suspecting that the extension plug is faulty(I maybe wrong. idk). I have not tried using a different extension plug because i don't have a spare. Am planning to get a new extension plug but just wanna see what serious /k thinks about it before spending my money on a good 4 way extension plug.

Edit: picture

upgrading rig(SSD or RAM)

hello everyone,
I m planning to upgrade my rig but idk which part shud i upgrade to increase the performance.
my upgrade budget is rm 500. not planning to upgrade GPU am already satisfied with it..
use it a lot to browse(FB, twitch, youtube and etc. sometimes may open a browser full of tabs, heavy browsing) and i usually use chrome and chrome eats up a lot memory after a while( i m not sure if its normal for everyone or just me). Was planning to upgrade RAM due to this
however, my primary ssd is almost full already so i also plan to get another SSD.
conclusion, couldnt decide whether to upgrade SSD or RAM ( not sure if upgrading SSD improves pc performance or not)
here is my rig :

Intel Core i5 6500
8.00GB Single-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. H170-Gaming 3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (EVGA)
Samsung SSD 750 EVO 120GB
Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-00BN5A0
