Foveon X3 User Appreciation Thread

Seems like we do not have any Foveon X3 specific user threads here so I decided to start one - to share my love and passion for the Foveon X3 image sensor.
In short, this is a place for us to discuss and share the wonders of the Foveon X3 sensor - or its shortcomings among ourselves, or to introduce to others why we love the sensor so much.

In my opinion, there seems to be no other camera sensor that can match the Foveon look under adequate lightning conditions!

However, please let us not allow this thread to become a rant thread on why Sigma acquired Foveon and not other major camera companies as well and the likes of such.
If you would really like an in-depth story on how Foveon came about, I highly recommend the book The Silicon Eye written by George Gilder - it details on the birth of the Foveon sensor, how it was developed, why Sigma was the only company who was interested in the Foveon technology, etc etc.

Disclaimer: All relevant information quoted from www.foveon.com

Background of Foveon:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Foveon is well known for its development of X3 image sensor technology, the patented 3-layer image sensor architecture breakthrough which provides a fundamentally better way of capturing color images. The technology was developed using standard CMOS semiconductor process steps and produced the world’s first commercially successful image sensor that did not require color filters to create a color image.

But there is more to the company than just great sensor technology. Bringing X3 sensors to the imaging market is the result of the efforts of a multidisciplinary, innovative team comprising knowledge in silicon technology, chip design, image processing, firmware creation , hardware design, and manufacturing all working together - dedicated to making the imaging experience better, more colorful, and sharper.

The Foveon X3 image sensors this team has developed have found popularity in DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras manufactured by Sigma Corporation. Sigma has produced DSLR and compact cameras using Foveon X3 image sensors, delighting camera owners with amazing image detail and color.

The close cooperation between Sigma and Foveon led to Sigma’s purchase of Foveon in November of 2008. Foveon continues to be based in San Jose, CA and will produce new and exciting X3 image sensors and image processing techniques to meet the requirements of the demanding image capture market.

What is a pixel?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Prior to the existence of the Foveon X3 direct image sensor, there has been a 1:1 relationship between the number of pixels (photodetectors) and the number of pixel locations for a traditional CCD and CMOS image sensor. Given this relationship, the generic term “pixel” has been commonly used to reference both the pixel (photodetector) and the pixel location. Foveon direct image sensors are a new type of image sensor that incorporates three pixels(photodetectors) at every pixel location on the image sensor. The definition of a pixel as indicated below is consistent with standard industry conventions as applied to CCD image sensors, CMOS image sensors, and the Foveon X3 direct image sensor.

Pixel
A pixel on the image sensor of a digital camera is a light absorbing element (photodetector) that converts light (photons) into electrons. A pixel is also referred to as a pixel sensor when there is a need to distinguish the pixel from its location.

Pixel Location
A pixel location is the X,Y coordinate on the two-dimensional grid of an image sensor at which the pixel is located.

Why Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor better

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

To capture the color that other image sensors miss, Foveon X3® direct image sensors use three layers of pixels embedded in silicon. The layers are positioned to take advantage of the fact that silicon absorbs different wavelengths of light to different depths. The bottom layer records red, the middle layer records green, and the top layer records blue. Each stack of pixels directly records all of the light at each point in the image.

Until now, all other image sensors have featured just one layer of pixels, capturing just one color per point the image. To capture color, the pixel sensors in CCD and CMOS image sensors are organized in a grid, or mosaic, resembling a three-color checkerboard. Each pixel is covered with a filter and records just one color—red, green, or blue.

That approach has inherent drawbacks, no matter how many pixels a mosaic-based image sensor might contain. Since mosaic-based image sensors capture only one-third of the color, complex processing is required to interpolate the color they miss. Interpolation leads to color artifacts and a loss of image detail. Blur filters must then be used to reduce color artifacts. The use of blur filters adversely affects sharpness and resolution of the final image captured.

With its revolutionary process for capturing light, Foveon X3 technology never needs to compromise on quality, so you get sharper pictures, truer colors, and fewer artifacts. And cameras equipped with Foveon X3 technology do not have to rely on processing power to fill in missing colors, reducing hardware requirements, simplifying designs and minimizing lag time between one shot and the next.

Finally, Foveon has combined the best of what both film and digital have to offer. This is accomplished by the innovative design of the three layer Foveon X3 direct image sensor. Similar to the layers of chemical emulsion used in color film, Foveon X3 image sensors have three layers of pixels. The layers of pixels are embedded in silicon to take advantage of the fact that red, green, and blue light penetrate silicon to different depths – forming the first and only image sensor that captures full color at every point in the captured image.

Powered USB Hub

Hi guys,

Would like to know whether anyone of you knows where I can get a powered USB hub that doesn't look like a child's toy.
The item must come with an adapter as well.

So far, I only received good feedback about Belkin models but I am not sure where to buy them.. not looking for anything above RM80 unless it's made out of aluminium body.

So far my requirements are:

1. At least 4 USB ports (not including the up/downstream that connects to the computer)
2. Powered (with included adapter, if no adapter included must be dirt cheap)
3. Aesthetics (this might be subjective, but I basically am not looking at toy-looking, funky ones. Looking at industrial or nice squarish ones from Logitech or Belkin)

Now, once that decision is made, where do I buy them? There was actually a cheap Adaptec one that one LYN forummer used to sell but it was out of stock already. Searching on the forums yielded nothing (or there was one but it looked like a piece of plastic crap).

I'm desperate, and I'm definitely looking for one. A long bar design with all ports facing outward would be good.
Or something like the Belkin one with a few pointing up and the rest pointing out from the sides.

Recommendations AND where to buy them please, don't just recommend without letting me know WHERE to purchase.

Thank you!

PS: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...oduct_Id=357371 is nice.

Found:
http://www.cresdo.com/computers/accessorie...bs/product/2822 [RM69 but this looks like a toy]
http://www.cresdo.com/computers/accessorie...bs/product/2496 [RM89, this looks nice but some users have said it comes with adapter but the website advertises it as without, anyone with experience?]
http://www.cresdo.com/computers/accessorie...s/product/15318 [RM79 comes with adapter but is abit bulky]
http://www.cresdo.com/computers/accessorie...bs/product/2825 [RM99, nice but I think it should be posted as a 4-port]

Sri Computers

Hey, just wanted to seek some clarification from some of the bros here:

My friend wanted to upgrade his memory for his laptop.. SODIMM DDR2 to 2x1GB from his current 2x512 configuration.

So I brought him to LYP and ta-dah, we were in front of Sri-Comp, he asked me whether which shops were reputable so I told him either Sri-Comp (my mistake), C-Zone, Viewnet or Thundermatch.

It happened like this:

My friend asked for Kingston brand 2x1GB DDR2 667Mhz SODIMM ram and whether they were in stock.
My friend said OK and asked for 1 set and asked for the price.
Salesman replied, "RM80 per stick".

Friend thought it was reasonable as he last checked, it was RM90 per stick (maybe 1.5 weeks ago)
Then he proceeded to payment, and while waiting for him I went to pick up a price list..
It was a staggering RM75.

While more reputable shops carry it for RM72 (Kingston brand btw).

Question is:
Do you think that the salesman was being ethical by quoting a higher price than the original price as stated in the pricelist?

Or I was just dumb not to inform my friend first before the transaction took place.
Friend was initially pissed but then he thought he wanted to pay RM90 per stick anyway so he still got a deal out of it, while he could have saved RM16 if he bought from other shops.

What do you think?

AMD AM3 System

Hi,

I am currently deciding to build a new system based on the newer AM3 chipset.

Am currently migrating over from my Opteron 144 setup on the DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D, wanted to hold out as long as possible before changing when Bulldozer comes, but since my mobo is fried (don't know why it just wont turn on), I need to build another AMD system.

Have been doing my research over the past few weeks and I've decided to form a new AMD system based on the latest AMD890FX chipset - on the Asus Crosshair IV Formula motherboard as I've waited for almost 2 months but seems like DFI is not coming out with a 890FX board.

I am planning on going SSD with this machine as I think I will be going all out in making myself an ultimate machine.

1. I am currently deciding over the X4 955 BE vs the X6 1055T, main consideration would be does the X6 offer any architectural advantage over the older 955 BE?
I do not believe I am a very heavy gamer but I will occasionally game + mostly multitasking but rarely any mulitmedia intensive applications such as photo-editing or video-editing or even ripping movies.
For example such as better power management, better integration with 890FX, etc?

As I am going to go with a red theme this time around, I cannot find any nice rams that are red-themed, except the ultra expensive Corsair Dominator GT CL7s, as well as the newer Corsair Dominator GT CL6 that is guaranteed to run @ 1600Mhz 6-6-6-18.
2. As I am actually looking for a pair of 2x2GB DDR3 kits that will offer me AT LEAST 1500Mhz @ very low latencies such as CL7-7-7-20 maximum (CL6 is better), are there any recommendations from you gurus as I have always believed that AMD needs tighter latencies for snappier computing experience?
Or are performance (low latency high frequency) rams does not actually translate to real life usage (since I'm getting an SSD)?

If performance rams are just marketing hype, would anyone care to recommend me any other low latency rams (if needed) that at least have a red heatsink/heatspreader so that it would match the theme of my build?

..but these run @ 1600Mhz 6-6-6-18 GUARANTEED! Plus they're GTs so they are definitely sexy.
Second preference would be the G.Skill Ripjaws, nice red heatspreaders on them too.

PS: Corsair Dominator GTs are very sexy.
To prove my point, see picture below:
[attachmentid=1605037]

3. (Optional) As I plan to go water cooling after some initial testing and stress testing the CPU, I would like to go for a nice case that offers me the option of
having in at least a 120x2 radiator for cooling the CPU only. What would you guys recommend?

The contenders are:
a) CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced
b) Lancool PCK62R (actually wanted the Lian Li PC-P50R but cannot rotate the HDD cage)
c) Lian Li PC-7FNWX (still waiting for this one)
d) Lian Li PC-8FIR

Thanks for the suggestion.

Antje Duvekot [Folk]

Not sure if anyone heard of her - Antje Duvekot (pronounced as Aunt-yuh Doo-va-kott) a German-American folk artist, who sings under her current record label, Black Wolf Records.

From last.fm :
Antje Duvekot is an up-and-coming German-American folk singer-songwriter. Where so many songwriters stretch for their highest notes, hoping to impress and astound, Duvekot bravely mines her deep reaches, where the dark feelings lurk. It softens her phrasing, leading us in with whispers, letting us know she believes every word she sings.

Her melodies seem like suddenly occurring thoughts, matching the hushed, conversational allure of her singing. They feel so immediate, so in synch with her lyrics; and yet also snugly rooted, oddly familiar, like memories you can't quite recall.

Nice voice that doesn't emphasize on the highs too much.

Try it, her first song is free, now just need to know where can I get this album locally.
Antje Duvekot - Vertigo [Free Download]

To download the first song Vertigo for free, right click Save Target As on the icon KEEP.
256kbps CBR for a demo song, not bad, and full length too!

Anyway, just here to share a nice song for everyone of you guys out there!

Lyrics :

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

you're on a highwire and i'm climbing out
and i feel the danger as i steal a kiss from your mouth
and i will try to hold steady
wanna make you believe
that the height of this tightrope is just second nature to me

but i will break
all my bones
cause i lied about the vertigo
and i have
never been up this high
there'll be no safety net
when i fall right our of the sky
there will be no ambulance waiting
and i have no wings to fly

so we will meet on the borders,
barefoot and blessed
in colorful graveyards with flower bouquets for the dead
and i don't ask you to promise
that i will not come to harm
but when the wind tugs my courage will you be my brother in arm

cause i will break
all my bones
cause i lied about the vertigo
and i have
never been up this high
there'll be no safety net
when i fall right our of the sky
there will be no ambulance waiting
and i have no wings to fly

oh the view from this height
high above the ferriswheel lights
might cause me to sway
but i am teaching myself to be brave

and i may break all my bones
cause i lied about the vertigo
and i have
never been up this high
there'll be no safety net
when i fall right our of the sky
there will be no ambulance waiting
and i have no wings to fly

Enjoy!

Well, first of all, just wanted to share this with you guys.

FYI, the Amazon Music Downloader only works in US but I'm sure you can get a workaround for that.

Also, I think you need a US-based CC to sign up to be able to download the music, so..

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...ref=nosim/0sil8
The 99 Most Essential Vivaldi Masterpieces (Amazon Exclusive) for USD$2.99

And Amazon's music downloads are DRM-free.. now all I need to do is to get someone to get me those.

Second and last, why is there no Topic Tag that emphasizes on Music? All I see are equipment types tag.
Damn, isn't this an Audiophile subforum?

Do we listen more to equipments rather than enjoying music?

Desktop Speaker Stands

Well, was @ Jusco the other day and I saw these Sushi serving stands made using natural rubber wood..

So couldn't resist myself and got two of them for my cheap 2.0 wooden speakers - the Edifier R1200TIII.

Got some vibration absorbing mat (aka bathroom mat lol) for about RM3.
The rubber wood ones costed me RM13 each.

So a set of speaker stands for less than RM30.

Note : The vibration absorbing mats helped tweak the highs to become super high and airy while the bass went super low.
Wooden stands helped to place the speaker firmly on the desk, expanding the sound signature to become more tubey and warm like.
Or I could just be bullshitting.

My 2007wfp IPS monitor, thinking of getting another one to do portrait mode for documents and stuff.

Close up of the rubber wood sushi stand, lol!

Cheers, what are you guys doing for your desktop speakers to be on the same level as your ears?

Earphones Mini-Review

Well, I was given the opportunity to listen to huangyong's modded X Brand earphones with silver braided cables.
As quoted by huangyong here

QUOTE

got th sound driver tweaked, and my early experiment with silver cable proves that it is better than pk1....so, continue to invest in the product development, the early protoype has been sent to Malaysia for testing.smile.gif stay tuned...

So here I am, with a mini review of what's about to come.

First things first, I was never one to talk jargon so I hope experienced readers will not find that it will not be a 'joy' to read as I was never able to comprehend much of that jargon anyway

For comparison, I am going to judge this against something that I currently own :

Shure E2C (got it cheap, using it for the isolation only, SQ is just so-so)
Etymotic ER4P (sold those since I lost one side of my customs, so it's just going to be brief impressions)
KOSS KSC75 (well, let's just say I don't get to use them much)
Beyerdynamic DT990s (My current daily driver)

Alright, first up are the pictures :

So here's the listening setup : Foobar2k -> Audio-gd Compass -> X-brand Silver version

First, a disclaimer : I never reallyy thought that earphones shaped like these could ever sound good.. always thought that IEMs were the way. But ever since I helped huangyong handled that bulk for his PK2 orders last time, I had a chance to listen to one of those and I was impressed. Back then, with the PK2s, I found them to be bass-shy and sounded abit thin, airy.

Moving on, I first let these babies run for almost 30minutes on just normal music to warm them up before listening to them, as I am a firm believer in things that if they do not sound good out of the box, they can't sound good much later on, even after a millenia of burning-in.

The first thing that one notices is wow--- the soundstage! It's extremely well presented and it is wide! Coming from an IEM guy and also who owns the Beyer DT990s, I must say the soundstage is very wide and open, it almost rivals (okay, almost here = 70-80%) that of the DT990.
This is very apparent on classical pieces which a large orchestra is present, with lots of clashings of instruments at tight music passages and also the instrument separation was phenomenal for an earbud.. I mean, wow it's a freaking earbud dude!

Listening to Vivaldi's Cello from Yo-yo Ma (cello) with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, it was the most engaging earbud I have ever listened to - period. Ok, this might show a lack of exposure from me to genres like the Yuins and all, but there were certainly details which my KOSS or Shure's were unable to pick up as well. Cello's sounded much mroe like cellos and not violins on the Shures (since they were bass shy).
However, one thing to note that the X-brand is not bass-heavy as well, which is perfect for a guy like me who prefers bass oomph rather than bass slam.. it's like slight vibrations (oomph) versus bass impacts (slam) which I am more accustomed to enjoy.

Word of caution, if you listen to trance and heavy rock, this is definitely not one for you, maybe its due to the silver cable or without adding in an extra resistor (which huangyong experimented saying it added more bass but you need a better amp), but I found it just right for my taste. This is coming from a guy who found the excessive mids of the Aego-M satisfying while the bass knob set at Level 1 very fatiguing and had to resort to stuffing towels to block the bass port

Continuing on, listening to Victoria Mullova playing the violin accompanied by a cello was also an almost enjoying experience as one could hear the decaying notes of the violin, coupled with the lingering voilin notes and also this was clearly distinct from the lower frequencies on the cello.
Once again, I was floored by the pair of earbuds, coming from someone who never believed in earbuds.. sure they lose out to the Beyers due to bigger drivers and a larger soundstage and much more accurate reproduction of decays.. but somehow the earbuds were not fatiguing to listen to, even after 2-3 hours for this review.. HOWEVER my right ear started feeling painful because somehow the plastic causes pain to my right ear opening but the left side is OKAY though.

Moving on to some vocals... for these I listened to some selected few songs which I'm going to list out :
Regina Spektor
Damien Rice
Eric Clapton
Vienna Teng
John Mayer
Anna Nalick
Alison Krauss

On Damien Rice's 9 Crimes, the background was clearly distinct from the foreground, and details were excellent! Wow, I don't even hear that on Shures which are pretty lousy IMHO but I think this beats the Crossroads Mylars outright! Details, imaging and the thumps of the background are very apparent and don't mix around in the music like some cheap earphones do. However, with ththe Beyer DT990 it was a much more distinct difference and you could really appreciate the dark background when there was no vocals and only instruments.. maybe adding the resistor really does help in making the background noise really dark.. it's not that there are background noises on the X-brand, but on the Beyers it just felt much more darker.. placebo maybe?

Oh, one word to note that on the Compass, the volume knob was set @ 8 while for the Beyers it was almost 12. This shows the difference in the input impedance of the 2 phones.. haha!

Moving on, Eric Clapton's unplugged album has proven time to time to be my trusted review album. When one listens to his album (on gapless of course) you must be able to feel the atmostphere of a live performance and somehow a good representation makes you feel very engaged and sucked into the whole performance. Let's give an analogy, on good earphones/headphones, you are right there at his performance, looking and listening to him, while on other transducers which are less engaging, you feel like you're enjoying the concert as though you were in a glass room, looking out while still getting the most of the audio side. Well, this is where the X-brand managed to pass the test and proved to be an engaging earphone.. well part of it might be due to the larger soundstage present in earbuds and not closed in like in IEMs.

This will prove to be a trade off if you're into noise isolation and all, there are some IEMs that give a huge soundstage but those are not open.. it somehow feels enclosed in your head like swirling around your head.. but on opn phones the soundstage is like expanding around and to the sides of the head.. in a linear fashion if u get what I mean. Which is why I always prefered open headphones.

Female and male vocals were good.. don't know how to compare them to but they sounded great to my ears.. this is much better than lugging the Beyers to the university library and choosing a quiet corner so the leaked music wont disturb anyone.. this is a perfect replacement of what I have been looking for in a portable setup! Mids were NOT recessed, they felt abit forward to me, as compared to the Etymotic ER4Ps (as far as I can remember but definitely not VERY forward sounding).

On John Mayer's Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (from The Village Sessions EP), it was VERY VERY engaging and details were definitely there, this is one of the most engaging songs in my music collection I mean you gotta try one for yourself and see how good this is BUT I think that you definitely need to be in a very quiet environment to enjoy the details and soundstage.. and with earbuds, one can always tend to push the volume limits higher due to environmental sounds leaking into the ear.. so be careful there

Well, in conclusion, I feel that this earphones will definitely give the more expensive brethrens a GOOD run for their money as they were really spectacular in my opinion as they embodied what I wanted from a portable setup.. why?

Pros :
-they were detailed, had a wide soundstage, wasn't fatiguing as the highs did not extend as much as the Etys
-there was definitely a body to the sound much as I can hear (which makes the music sounds so much more engaging, which I have come to appreciate over the years of starting out loving analytical sound)
-and the bass was just nice! Deep notes reverberated (could feel slight vibrations there).
-small and easily driven, apparently I think has the same impedance as my Shures (since same volume level on Fuze)
-oh, did I forget to mention the SOUNDSTAGE, it was phenomenal

Cons :
-On hard rock songs with alot of guitar twangings and mass drum crashing I think the earphones were not up the task yet of playing all those simultaneously.. (I don't listen to them most of the time, so its okay for me)
-Might be a bit lean on the bass, has very little bass slam, but quantity is definitely there, doesn't go as deep as full-sized headphones though
-Needs a good amplifier to make it shine, on the Fuze it lacked details as compared to the Compass but it was still great for me.
-Easily lost and broken since anyone else might just mistook it for a normal earbud
-If you're like me who gets uncomfortable after prolonged hours of use, nope it's not for you, unless you listen to music periodically and not throughout the whole day (unlike me)

Note :
Well, if you're one who enjoys good music and dont need to phones to be analytically sounding (too much detail, lean bass) or to be too much of a basshead, enjoys notes that is bodied and well, basically engaging, this is one which I do highly recommend over the more common brethrens like the Crossroads, have no idea what the price is though. This is definitely a keeper if my right ear doesn't hurt after a few hours of listening! Well, unless I get customs done of course.. they might be just the perfect portable earphones. But please bear in mind that all testing was done in a very quiet listening environment, which might not be if you're on portable though.. so I was thinking this would be perfect in a quiet working environment (if you have your own office) and don't want to look like a dork with huge headphones when your colleague or boss walks in on you.
For me, I just loved it, it was just right for me as it suited my personal preference in music, although I do wished that there was a slight more details on very acoustic tracks.
Hi, just sent this in to Canon @ Peremba Square last week coz I got the infamous CANON CCD defect.

THey called me up today, saying I need to replace my optical lens unit which costs me RM394.. problem is I didn't have any problem with my Optical Unit before this, up until I got the infamous CCD defect error (Canon welcome screen, displays all status and settings but black screen, able to see old photos but not newer photos taken), and I don't know whether I should repair it or not.

This unit has served me well along the years, and it is a very tough unit, handling more than it is able to, surviving the rough years with me.

Well, do u think I should pay Canon to repair it for me or should I send it in to Canon Singapore?
Or bring to any reputable shop so that I can still at least salvage it?

Regards,
Top Gun

My Story of the Sennheiser Orpheus and Larocco Pocket Reference II

Part I : Orpheus
Courtesy of an old friend, I was also given the golden opportunity to have a go at the Sennheiser Orpheus Electrostatic Headphones.

Amazing.. it's simply amazing!
Instruments such as string and wind instruments sound life-like and immensely enjoyable!
Transients was excellent, and the transparency, ahhhh...

Superbly wonderful!

Details were quite good, even though the source was just normal non-high end audiophile stuff.

To me, the bass is just right, on par or above the ER4P's bass level.. everything sounded natural and you could feel that the music is flowing into your ears with silky smooth liquid motion.

Vocals were lush and engaging, and if you closed your eyes and let your imagination run wild.. the ambience is almost like you're present there itself, and Jennifer Warnes stuped me once again with her magical voice.

What can I say?

I didn't lost and arm or a leg, but I certainly lost my grasp on my heart today.
One particular thing that I noticed is that when I was listening to music on the Orpheus, I had this feeling of short-breathedness and as if music was flowing into my heart, providing warmth and happiness..

This must be the magical works of the Orpheus, and it's a lifetime experience that shouldn't be washed away years after.

I love the Orpheus

Part II : Larocco Pocket Reference II

Courtesy of yet another close friend, opportunity dawned upon me and I just couldn't resist the temptation due to it's beautiful solid aluminium enclosure.

On first look, the Larocco is stunningly beautiful . The LED is just nice, not bright yet it is easy to notice. There are 2 knobs, the inner one being the Bass Contour Knob and the rightmost one being the volume knob.
Output is at a standard 1/4" jack, and the inputs are either a 3.5" mini / RCA L/R.

Here I move on about the sound.. this amp is amazing in terms of looks! It's definitely a stunner
Transparent, the pace is fast but it didn't sound too "wowish" enough, maybe because of the opamp used. I'm currently waiting for this close friend of mine to obtain a pair of OPA627s before giving any further comments on the SQ.

In the moment, enjoy the pictures!

Larocco stole my heart away tonight.

Hey guys, thought that I wanted to share with you guys :

Managed to score this from the Flea market opposite Rowell Court, but was taken aback as there was no adapter for this thing. Got it for quite cheap, not phenomenal pricing anyway.

I've halfway through in the PCDP collection!!

Anyway, here are some pics.
Really want to try out that High Filter thingy but can't switch it on.
Asked kin0kin (Head-Fi) / alamaklor and he told me it's a proprietary plug.
Anyone of u have any idea?

In the mean time, enjoy the pics!

This is like the chio-est I've ever seen!
Was made in the 82-87 era, was for USD$375 when it first came out.
Any opinions? D

Enjoy!
Help me out too, if u have any spare to sell!

Thanks!

[WTA] Diff CD Presses vs Quality

Hey audio junkies out there,
I have a simple question.
Are Singapore presses of CDs, their quality is better/slightly better OR same OR slightly lousy/downright lousy ?

I mean if compared to EU press, Japaneses presses or even U.S.A. presses.
Just wana know so that the extra 6 dollars plus for an overseas press will let me know whether to buy or not.

Thanks for the input!

Because if there is mostly no sonically difference, then it's cheaper for me to get Singapore presses.
