So far watched the first episode. Very promising and really like the scope and new ideas for the old franchise. Like how they fashioned the new group of characters after Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. It ties back to their existence akin to never grow old. Then you have Xenomorph as a wrench who is at the top of the food chain quandary.

Great start and exploring new story premise. Hope they stick the landings.

This is one of the big release for next year. The book is really good. It's a page turner you can't put down. Don't be fool by The Martian meets ET vibe, it's much more than that.

This is a very underrated show. The two main reason to watch is Steven Knight the creator of Peaky Blinders and Jack O'Connell. So you have cheeky vulgar banters amongst the problematic soldiers allegedly created the SAS. Jack O'Connell always the dependable actor to bring in the good. Always thought he'll be more famous from BBC Skins days. In my opinion he was the highlight in Sinners as Remick. Also like how they incorporate British punk soundtrack over the series. It has that rebellious fuck the world vibe.

It's pretty good with really chock-full of cameos. According to Seth Rogen, most of the gags based on his experience interacting with various studio heads. So far, the Martin Scorsese bits pretty funny.

The best of 2023...movie and TV

Movie, not in any particular order:
1. Past Lives - a truly touching love story. This is not your sappy melodrama where you can guess the corny ending when the movie starts. A very refreshing take and cathartic experience.
2. The First Slam Dunk - it's directed by the mangaka himself, the GOAT Takehiko Inoue himself. Perfect blend of drama and kinetic basketball action.
3. Killers of the Flower Moon - it may not the best work of Scorsese but still one of the better film this year.
4. The Holdovers - Paul Giamatti and Alexander Payne rekindle their magical collaboration. Superb bantering of snarky dialogues and full of heart in the messaging department.
5. Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verse - so they "Empire Strike Back" the trilogy with expanded stakes and great new characters.
6. Oppenheimer - Nolan's better movie since Inception. His gimmicky storytelling is wearing thin. All the hoo-ha reduced down to a court room drama with jumping timeline.

Honourable mention - John Wick 4, Bottoms, Air, How to Blow Up a Pipeline, Nimona

In time for 2024 US election. It's been awhile seeing Kristen Dunst headlining a movie. Fingers crossed this is anything near to 28 Days quality. I wasn't enamored by Garland's Men, but his filmography still something to behold.

Just watched 2 episodes, it's very good and really love how they satirise the hot button issues in US. Granted the MacGuffin is the secret experiment hidden in the basement but the characters is the driver of the show. Even the smaller supporting cast has something interesting to latch on. Of course the manipulation and exploitation of fame and cover-up more prominent than The Boys which gives Gen V a different vibe.

Don't miss this.

After the wildly popular "Yellowstone", Taylor Sheridan returning to the military thriller genre he was known for. So it's Sicario on TV. Sophisticated and more intriguing plotline driven than action in your face. The cast is pretty stacked. It's a worthwhile watch but don't expect it to topple Yellowstone but definitely much better than the cliché Amazon's Jack Ryan on a whole.

I get to try it out on my wife's new iPhone, not as expansive as I would like. Quality wise is a tad better than Netflix but don't expect the quantity factor. Being a Jon Stewart fan so it's no brainer to watch his show. And trust me, if you haven't watched Coda yet, please do so. Anyway I'm here to talk about Slow Horses.

Remember the 80's spy action Sneakers by Robert Redford who lead a bunch of misfits to thwart a conspiracy. This is the updated version of that but with British witty dialogues and a pretty intriguing set-up. Slow Horses is in reference to Slough House where MI5 agents go to when they screw up their career big time. So you have nerds, introverts, weirdos, and not the best of MI5 people all on dead end jobs. That is until a far right extremist group threatens to decapitate a muslim student live on internet. The burnout head honcho of Slough House actually a very capable spy operative who sees what is actually going on and able to outsmart those who is orchestrating the crisis. Pretty good television especially the drought in Netflix at the moment.

Loving every minute of the season premiere. Very interested to see how Adrien Brody and Alexander Skarsgard fits into the back stabbing games of the siblings and Logan's epic eff-off outbursts coming out furious.

Although a bit late, it's a proper origin of Tony Sopranos and you get why and how he is who he is. This is a better send off movie compared to the Breaking Bad one on Netflix. A good chance this will introduce new audiences to the old shows on HBO. Ray Liotta had stellar scenes in the prison and Michael Gandolfini is pretty good as the young Tony. Fans of the original will have a field day seeing the easter eggs and who's who in the movie.

This is a rather interesting look at dissecting Qanon and more importantly who is the real identity of Q. The cliffhanger of every episode push you further down the rabbit hole. Questionable people literally vying their 15 minutes of fame and blinded by the darker aspects of their rhetorics.

Amazon's Invincible

For the longest time I didn't bother to read Kirkman's Invincible. I was put off by the generic rip-off appearance until it gotten so big in the independent comic book circle. In short, it's a Mat Salleh version of Dragon Ball plus superhero. An all powerful alien race went about conquering universe until Mark Grayson stood in their way. So the journey where the hero progress through a hierarchy of alien villains. The thing is these aliens are conniving and manipulative while being all powerful. The protagonist character arc kinda like Goku, he is abandoned while needed to be powerful as adversaries finds him. Later on he even started his family with his children in the fight against the alien race. Also no shortage of goofy side characters. What it did much better and beyond Dragon Ball clone is the no holds barred fights and consequential plot progressions. There's multiple needle drop moments that leave your jaw drop again and again. Also don't be fooled that this has the appearance of a saturday morning cartoon, it's gonna be hyper violent. This is not a children show or comic book.It's gory and savage like Conan the Barbarian. The human drama is up there with The Walking Dead.

Glowing reviews already bestowed on the preview episodes. Some Hollywood star powers providing voice works. Only few more days away.
