Anybody notice 4G signal in KV getting worse since last month? Mine Sialcom suppose to have widest coverage in and out KV, but now almost always have to limit my band to 3G for stable connection.

Emigration Dream

PETALING JAYA: More than 70% Malaysian undergraduates harbour hopes of studying overseas an obtaining permanent residence (PR) abroad.

A survey of more than 1,100 undergraduates here found that 72.2% would prefer to study overseas and apply for PR status upon completion of their studies abroad.

The survey revealed that the top choices for Malaysian students aiming to go abroad for further studies are the United Kingdom (49.5%), United States (16%), Australia (14.4%), Singapore (10.1%) and India (1.9%).

The survey conducted by Anderson Market Analytics over six months polled students from six local private varsities, four of which are locally-owned and two owned by foreign universities.

"Thses students perceive that a foreign degree enhanced their ability to obtain the right career. However, due to cost prohibitions and other considerations, they had to pursue tertiary education locally," said Anderson's executive director V. Prathab.

"The students revealed that if they were able to find the funding needed to finance their studies abroad, they would likely emigrate upon completion of their studies," said Prathab, adding that this was a worrying sign as it could possibly deprive Malaysia of bright young talents.

As such, he said local universities and policy-makers should look into ways to increase their attractiveness to students and enhance their competitiveness.

He said the study also revealed that the cost of tertiary education was the biggest factor for students when selecting their choice of higher learning institutions...

Sos: TheSun Daily

Fairchild to sell Penang factory, 1,000 set to lose jobs
Monday, 27 July 2015
By: DAVID TAN

GEORGE TOWN: Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc, known as National Semiconductor when it first came to Malaysia in 1972, is selling its manufacturing facility in the Free Industrial Zone (FIZ), Bayan Lepas as part of its worldwide realignment exercise. About 1,000 people will lose their jobs.

The plant, currently operating with about 500 full-time staff, is expected to close by the end of the year.

The San Jose, California headquartered company announced last August that it would cease operations in West Jordan, Utah, Penang, and Bucheon in South Korea.

The changes are scheduled to take effect between the second and fourth quarter of this year.

The closure may affect around 15% of Fairchild’s global workforce of 9,000 employees.

It is learnt that there are two multinational corporations – one from Germany and the other from the United States – which are interested to acquire the property located on over 20 acres. Sources told StarBiz that one of the MNCs, involved in manufacturing medical devices, is keen to buy the property to expand the company’s operations in the state.

The property has been valued at between RM200 and RM300 per sq ft.

Fairchild Semiconductor was one of the eight comnpanies that set up operations in Penang in the 1970s, together with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Hewlett Packard (now called Agilent Technologies), Clarion, Intel, Hitachi (now called Renesas), Litronix (now called Osram Opto Semiconductor) and Robert Bosch.

Sos

Bestest Satay in KV

/k anyone know where is the best satay in klang valley?

I personally like pasar malam style satay, not the satay kajang or samuri style with full meat.

So my top three so far:

1. Bazar Ramadan Taman Nirwana (Ampang)
- Description: Black advert banner, the one handling the order is a young lad. One pakcik kipas-ing the satay over wood charcoal.
- Price: Ayam (80sen), Daging (80sen)
- Satay:
-Ayam: cukup rempah, and got little fat (4-star)
-Daging: a bit average but got some good fat (3.5-star)
- Peanut sauce: very lemak and just nice the saltiness and amount of peanut thrown into it (5-star <--- the best so far i have encountered)
- Extra: free (fresh) cucumber and (fresh) onion

2. Bazar Ramadan Taman Megah (Shah Alam)
- Description: Blue advert banner covering the stall, so really hard to see the person selling inside.
- Price: Ayam (70sen), Daging (80sen)
- Satay:
-Ayam: cukup rempah, and got little fat (4-star)
-Daging: quite cukup rempah and got some good fat (4-star)
- Peanut sauce: so so (3-star)
- Extra: free cucumber, no onion

3. Bazar Ramadan Taman Dagang (Ampang)
- Description: Handled by two pakcik. One of them got grey beard.
- Price: Ayam (50sen), Daging (60sen) <---cannot remember correctly
- Satay:
-Ayam: cukup rempah, and got little fat (4-star)
-Daging: cukup rempah and got soft fat (4.5-star)
- Peanut sauce: so so (3-star)
- Extra: free cucumber, no onion .
BFM Talk Back Thursday's

I used to be an avid listener to BFM talkback show while driving home and stuck in traffic jam since 2 years ago. Back then the hosts of the show would be like moderators to public phone callers and accept even the stupidest of a comment and not being a straight a hole to the caller.

But yesterday, while discussing on the child porn convict, i think Caroline Oh and Umapagan, whom were hosting the show, just straight told off a few callers' opinion (which goes against the popular sentiment) by throwing facts after facts and left the caller on the defensive. I think the hosts are too opinionanted that no other way of looking at the problem is acceptable.

And that could be the last time i would tune into the show. Better to listen to light fm.

What does /k think about the show?
