South City Plaza in Seri Kembangan is not exactly the first place you'd consider as a shopping destination. Except for Giant, one Marrybrown restaurant, one Subway outlet and a couple of stores you won't find anything unique or enticing there. In a typical day, South City Plaza will look more like a sleepy hollow than a shopping complex.

But when you go a few steps downstairs however, it's a whole different world down there. There you can find dozens of mobile phone accessories shop selling all kinds of phone accessories and spare part at a really affordable price. Mobile phone casing, housing, screen protector, battery, charger, you name it, it's all available.

You can also send your mobile phone for repair there and they can fix just about any problem you have with your mobile phone. I replaced my iPhone 4 battery last week for just 70 ringgit. If you prefer to buy just the battery and replace it yourself, it'll cost you RM20 less. New screen protector? Only 10 ringgit for all smartphone types. LCD replacement for your iPhone 4? About RM170. Brokem back cover? Only RM50 for that.

As you can see, most of the accessories and spare parts sold at South City Plaza basement level is even cheaper than at Low Yat Plaza since they buy in bulk. Yesterday, I was walking to the LRT station to the station platform in Plaza Rakyat.

Got a few Chinese ah beng looking and sized Guys in Pink was distributing small hexagon shaped pamphlets/Flyers with freebies inside I think.

One of them distributed it to me, then asked me if I'm 18, I immediately got shocked when that guy has a female voice, that moment I know that guy is a Female to Male Transexual . I said 'no'. She, took it back. Then I head off.

Kind of like most awkward looking situation I'd met.

Doctors offered a grim assessment of Michael Schumacher's head injuries Monday, providing no prognosis for the Formula One driving great after his skiing accident in the French Alps.

Schumacher has been placed in a medically induced coma to relieve pressure on his brain, which suffered bruising and bleeding when the retired seven-time world champion fell and struck a rock Sunday while skiing during a family vacation.

"We cannot predict the future for Michael Schumacher," Dr. Jean-Francois Payen, the doctor in charge of Grenoble University Hospital's intensive care unit, said at a news conference.

"He is in a critical state in terms of cerebral resuscitation," said Payen, the chief anesthesiologist treating the 44-year-old German driver. "We are working hour by hour."

Schumacher's wife, Corinna, daughter Gina Maria and son Mick were at his bedside.

"The family is not doing very well, obviously. They are shocked," his manager, Sabine Kehm, told reporters.

Schumacher earned universal admiration for his uncommon driving talent, which led to a record 91 race wins. His single-minded dedication to victory sometimes meant he was denied the same affection during his career that he received Monday.

Schumacher "gave the image of someone indestructible, powerful," France's four-time F1 champion Alain Prost said on iTele TV channel. "It's a banal accident compared to what he's done in the past . It's just a dumb thing that ended badly."

Schumacher and his 14-year-old son were skiing Sunday morning in the French Alpine resort of Meribel, where the family has a chalet. He fell and hit the right side of his head on a rock.

By wearing a helmet, Schumacher had given himself a chance of survival, Payen said, though the protection was not enough to prevent serious injury.

Gerard Saillant, a trauma surgeon who operated on Schumacher when he broke his leg in a 1999 race crash, was at the hospital as a visitor. He told reporters that Schumacher's age and fitness should work in his favor.

Schumacher, who turns 45 on Friday, retired from the track for the second time only last year, after a three-season comeback.

Still, the hospital's neurology team, which is recognized as among the best in France, was cautious about Schumacher's prospects.

Doctors lowered his body temperature to between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius (93.2 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit) as part of the coma, which essentially rests the brain, slowing its metabolism to help reduce inflammation after an injury.

The hospital, in a city that is the gateway to the French Alps, sees a large number of skiing accidents every year.

Schumacher has been seriously hurt before. In addition to the broken leg in a crash at the 1999 British Grand Prix, he also suffered neck and spine injuries after a motorcycle accident in 2009 in Spain.

An expert skier, Schumacher fell in a section of trails that slice down through a vast and, in parts, very steep snowfield. Although challenging, the snowfield is not extreme skiing. The runs are broad and neatly tended, and the ungroomed area in between — where the resort said Schumacher was found — is free of trees.

"He was in the deep snow. But it was not an off-piste track," Kehm said, suggesting Schumacher had not taken undue risks. "They were skiing on pistes, but in the moment that it (the accident) happened, it was not on the piste."

Meribel resort officials said Schumacher was conscious when first responders arrived, although agitated and in shock.

Microsoft Windows 8 continues to struggle in a battle to gain market share from Windows XP and Windows 7, while OEM partners will demonstrate their displeasure of the OS next month with a plan to chip away at Microsoft’s OS hegemony.

During the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next month in Las Vegas, Microsoft will see the real world struggles of its touch-based Windows 8 operating system. It will likely come in the form of dual-boot machines running both Windows 8 and Google Android, on tablets, notebooks and other consumer electronics.

Get used to hearing the term “PC Plus” and “two-in-one” in 2014, which both refer to a Windows 8.1 device that also dual-boots Android.

Computer manufacturer Asus and other OEMs are expected to show off a Microsoft Windows-Google Android dual-boot tablet during CES. These devices will help introduce new users to both OSes, while also providing a higher chance the tablet can be used in a ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) situation while in the office.

However, a lack of uncertainty while providing users with Android in a dual-boot format is something Microsoft never had to deal with while XP reigned supreme. Alternative approaches to fast-switching dual-boot, running a virtual machine or using software emulation are two other options that manufacturers are considering.

This is a significant problem for Microsoft, as the company’s Windows 8 and 8.1 update are struggling in the consumer and enterprise markets.

In the glass half-full side of things, if Android helps get more users exposed to Windows 8.1, then there is great potential to convince them to begin using the OS. Windows 8 controls just 6.6 percent of the desktop market, and enterprise corporations are largely upgrading to Windows 7 only.

Millions of Dogecoins Stolen.

The founders of Dogewallet, a storage system for the Bitcoin alternative Dogecoin, have confirmed a hack that may have cost owners of the currency over $12,000. Reports of the hack first began gathering pace at the Dogecoin forum, where users reported their funds were being sent to a wallet without their authorization. In separate posts on Reddit's Dogecoin page and the dogewallet.com front page, the founders explained the issue.

It appears the hack didn't target individual accounts, but rather the official Dogewallet page, which was modified to ensure that all transactions were sent to a single account, rather than their intended recipients. "The attack originated from the hacker gaining access to our filesystem and modifying the send/receive page to send to a static address," the Dogecoin Reddit account explained in a post on the site, "we're currently reviewing logs for information. The site is shut down right now."

Dogecoin is a very new digital currency. Set up as an alternative to Bitcoin, it takes its name from the Shiba Inu "doge" meme. Thankfully, at roughly $0.00059 per coin, it's worth a tiny fraction of Bitcoin, which as of writing is valued at over $700 per coin. Because of that, the millions of Dogecoins that were stolen only have a combined value of around $12,000. Dogewallet's founders say those accounts affected will be compensated, and asks owners to contact them in a private message on Reddit.

KOTA KINABALU: The presence of a large number of sardines (Ikan Tamban) in Tambisan Island off Lahad Datu on Christmas eve appears to be related to oceanographic conditions in the area.
According to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Borneo Marine Research Institute director Professor Dr Saleem Mustafa, the mass aggregation of sardines was to linked to oceanographic conditions.
Sardine is a shoal and pelagic fish which is sensitive to several oceanographic factors, especially temperature, currents and wind-induced turbulence in the sea surface, Dr Saleem said when asked to comment on the phenomenon in Lahad Datu.
Asked why there was such a large number in Tambisan two days ago, Dr Saleem replied, “Sardine is a shoal fish which tends to remain in large and dense aggregations. The shoal can be several hundred meters wide and several meters deep. Obviously, in Lahad Datu, they moved in thousands. We should not expect sardine to move to coastal waters individually.
“It is not unusual for sardines to be so close to shore. They do migrate in shore waters due to environmental and biological factors. Their migration route is influenced by many factors. They avoid regions where temperature is high, and where swells take place and water is turbid. They prefer calm currents.
“It is a temporary event and I do not expect to happen very often,” he said.
Asked why the fish were jumping out of the sea onto shore, Dr Saleem said that it could be that the sardine shoal or school of sardine was in very dense aggregation and the continental shelf in Lahad Datu where it occurred was narrow.
When shoals of fish tend to stay together and the density is exceptionally high in a narrow shelf area, jumping out of water is expected, he said.
Asked whether the fish is safe for consumption, he replied, “This is a persistent question being asked since this morning. I would like to give some reasons to explain it, among which are that the the fish looked healthy (no reports of unhealthy signs on their body), they were alive and vigorously jumping out of water and that there are no reports of any health problems or poisoning symptoms from those who consumed the fish.
Fish moved to coastal waters due to oceanographic conditions, he said, adding, “Considering all these factors I believe the fish is safe to eat. However, detailed observations on the fish need to be carried out for a more convincing explanation”.
Meanwhile, the tsunami early warning system did not detect any movement of the seabed of Kampung Tambisan Tungku, Lahad Datu, where thousands of fish beached Tuesday.
Sabah Meteorological Department director Abdul Malik Tussin said despite the phenomena, the early warning system in the area did not detect any earthquake or tsunami threat.
“The incident is rare. It happened over a short time and not due to any movement of the seabed that cause earthquake or tsunami,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here Wednesday.
Abdul Malik said the Meteorological Department was monitoring the movement of the seabed which was in a state of calm.
Weather conditions in Sabah was forecasted to be good except in some areas, particularly Beaufort, which was flooded due to overflowing of Sungai Padas in Tenom.
