Medical card premium not guaranteed

Hi all,

I am looking at medical card, and I have a preference for standalone card instead of an ILP. However, someone told me that the premium at renewal for standalone medical card is not guaranteed. This is coupled with a bad experience, where one of my parent took a standalone medical card. Upon first claim, the next year's premium was slapped with a 75% loading due to "increased risk".

I was told that ILP won't have such problem (by an agent, of course). Any increase in the premium is based on the pool's risk, not an individual's risk. However, reading from RinggitPlus suggest that actually this will happen regardless of the plan.

Would like to ask sifu-sifu which should I go for? Standalone v ILP, and what are the terminology I should take note while buying these products?

Unit Trust with low management fees?

As per topic. I've had experience both investing in Malaysia and outside. One thing obvious is the cost of diversification in Malaysia is insane. e.g. Public M, sales charges 5.5%, annual mgmt 1% at least. FSM does lower the sales charges, but still high by most standard (e.g. principal asia pacific dynamic income, sales 1.5%, mgmt 1.8%)

Compare this to any simple ETF (active strategy) that's on NYSE ARCA, e.g. SKYY (mgmt 0.60%), not to mention some passive strategy (e.g. VOO, 0.08%). This is insane!! Why are we feeding the fund managers/salesman to do (sometimes subpar) performance?

Need better investment strategy for MYR cash. Thoughts welcomed.

Prepaid plan for long validity (receive OTP)

I've searched around, tons of answer.
Basically if say I travel to SG for work long term (MCO, cant travel back to MY). I intent to use for receiving OTP only, what plan should I take? It should:

1. cheap in maintenance
2. reliable (wont suddenly go bankrupt)

I've found XOX & unifi bebas prepaid to be quite appealing. XOX seems to be a small company, not sure how reliable it is. I can't travel back to Johor just to port number you see...

Unifi mobile, the calls seems to be expensive. My plan is to active any cheapest plan every 2 months to keep it active.

Thoughts?

Gluten Intolerance

Who faces the same issue?
For me I'm diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity just recently. Then MCO hit and lucky enough I get to eat home cook food, which then easily avoided gluten issues.

However, with working again I have problem avoiding gluten, especially in social settings. Anyone face similar challenges would like to share any tips?

I'm not sure if this had been discussed before, a simple google search seems otherwise.
Anyway, do you use mouthwash? What kind of mouthwash? In general it's separated into:
1. antiseptic (medical grade: chlorhexidine)
2. antiseptic (medicated oil based, e.g. listerine)
3. flouride (e.g. oral B)
4. ???

I'm using oral B once a while, and i'm considering if i should use listerine. i dont particularly have bad breathe, but docs tend to say my teeth are dirty.. even after floss/brush... lol

Hi all!

I'm new to investing overseas and I'm planning to buy ETF. I've read a little to realise the following:
1. IBKR is cheapest but need maintainance (or some minimum amt of money which i dont have)
2. TDAmeritrade is fine, but they recently move MY clients to SG, flat $10.65 per trade. Not expensive but not optimized.
3. IBKR whitelabels (tradestation international... etc)

I'm exploring option (3), but I am worried that they might.. go vanish, and in this case my $$ and stocks will be liquidated? I cant find reliable review online. Any help?

Nissan Sunny 130Y burn engine oil

My 130Y 21 years old clocked 560k km. Well, I do have another persona but I still like this car. Keeping it for fun drive, can easily overtake people etc etc!
Recently though, I can smell burnt engine oil and engine oil level begin to drop. Of course I don't mind adding engine oil, but the burnt smell is annoying (potentially hazardous). Most likely it's valve or piston ring? How much to invest to fix? Worth putting the $$ for overhaul?
