Notis tersebut dikeluarkan oleh pihak Summit Petroleum (M) Sdn Bhd yang mengambil keputusan untuk mengurangkan insentif kadar kerugian yang ditanggung dengan memotong insentif jualan yang diberikan kepada para pengedar sebanyak RM0.50 setiap silinder.

Kementerian Hal Ehwal Agama Brunei telah mengemukakan penegasan dan nasihat kepada rakyatnya baru-baru ini berikutan dengan program “I Want To Touch A Dog” melalui sebuah kenyataan bertulis.

Dalam kenyataan tersebut, rakyatnya digesa supaya tidak perlu terikut-ikut dengan sebarang acara atau program yang bercanggah dengan hukum syarak’, amalan beragama, kepentingan awam, keharmonian beragama, tatasusila, kesopanan umum serta sensitiviti umat Islam di Brunei.

Kenyataan rasmi sebegini meredakan kegusaran dan kerisauan rakyat Brunei tentang perihal yang berlaku di Malaysia. Kenyataan ini juga bagi mengelakkan cubaan melakukan program yang sama di Brunei. Sebagai salah satu makhluk Allah, Islam tidak memandang keji haiwan seperti anjing.

Islam meletakan kaedah sertu apabila terkena najis yang dikategorikan sebagai ‘mughallazah’ ini namun kaedah tersebut bukanlah alasan untuk membolehkan seseorang itu memegang najis mughallazah secara sengaja.

Ia seperti orang yang sengaja melakukan dosa dengan alasan akan bertaubat kemudiannya.

Turun Temurun Keluarga Ini Merangkak Untuk Bergerak

Sewajarnya, manusia berjalan dengan dua kaki atau disebut dengan istilah merangkak. Namun, ternyata ada sebuah keluarga di Turki yang semua anggotanya berjalan dengan tangan dan kaki ataupun merangkak.

Penemuan pada tahun 2004 itu sangat menggemparkan kerana kebiasaan tersebut kelihatan aneh dan disebut dengan istilah beruang merangkak.

Bahkan, kebiasaan ini telah berlangsung sekian lama dan rupanya diwariskan turun temurun. Di tahun 1931, seorang ahli antropologi bernama Aleš Hrdlička pernah menulis buku berjudul Children Who Run on All Fours: And Other Animal-Like Behaviors in the Human Child.Buku tersebut ditulis akibat ketertarikannya pada fenomena unik tersebut. Buku ini mengandungi pengakuan dari beberapa orang tua yang menceritakan kebiasaan mereka yang sudah boleh berjalan, namun lebih menyukai merangkak seperti beruang.Bahkan, salah satu pengakuan yang ditulis dalam buku tersebut mengisahkan seorang anak yang dapat bergerak cepat dengan merangkak berbanding dengan saat ia berjalan tanpa sedikit pun merasa lelah.

Dalam buku tersebut, Hrdlička menyimpulkan bahawa kebiasaan tersebut ada kaitannya dengan sifat manusia, dalam hal ini adalah kera.

Sementara itu, kes-kes yang terjadi pada keluarga di Turki sangat istimewa. Mereka tinggal di sebuah kampung terpencil dan terdiri dari 19 anak yang semuanya berjalan dengan kaki dan tangan. Sebenarnya, mereka mampu berdiri dengan tegak asalkan boleh menumpukan perhatian. Namun, mereka akan mudah goyah dalam beberapa saat dan kembali merangkak.

Para penyelidik mendedahkan penemuan lain yang berkaitan dengan keadaan otak dari keluarga bersaudara di Turki tersebut. Otak mereka kurang berkembang sehingga sukar untuk mengawal keseimbangan.

Anehnya, keadaan otak semacam itu seharusnya tidak membolehkan seseorang berdiri tegak. Kenyataannya, mereka masih boleh berdiri walaupun akan kembali merangkak. Para saintis Turki menyebut fenomena tersebut sebagai 'evolusi terbalik'.

Sementara itu, ada penjelasan yang lebih aneh bahawa keluarga Turki ini telah mencipta kebiasaannya sendiri. Muncul dugaan bahawa anak-anak tersebut tak pernah diajarkan cara berjalan tegak oleh orang tuanya.

Terbukti setelah berita mengenai mereka tersebar ke dunia, anak-anak tersebut mendapatkan terapi motor. Hasilnya, mereka boleh berjalan dengan dua kaki.

Hal tersebut membuktikan bahawa pengajaran cara berjalan tegak harus tetap diajarkan oleh kedua-dua ibubapa. Apalagi, beberapa tahun selepas kes di Turki muncul, ada beberapa penemuan sama yang terjadi pada beberapa keluarga di Iraq, Turki dan Amerika Selatan.

Bagaimanapun juga, bipedalisme merupakan perkara asas yang membuat manusia menjadi berperikemanusiaan. Psikologi Esther Thelen menyebutkan bahawa berjalan dengan dua kaki bukanlah sesuatu yang muncul dengan sendirinya. Itu akan sangat bergantung pada respons otak, kreativiti dan proses sensitif. Tentunya, itu juga harus dilatih sejak awal.

Bayi Punca MH135 Mendarat Cemas Meninggal Dunia

Bayi baharu lahir kepada seorang penumpang wanita warga Australia yang menaiki pesawat Penerbangan Malaysia (MAS) MH135, yang mendarat cemas di Bali pada Jumaat, disahkan meninggal dunia sebaik tiba di hospital.

MH135 terpaksa membuat pendaratan cemas apabila penumpang wanitanya mahu bersalin.

Samual P. Jeyanthi dibawa ke Hospital Kasih Ibu di Bali selepas MH135 mendarat di Lapangan Terbang Ngurah Rai pada kira-kira pukul 2.10 petang, sebaik sahaja pesawat itu mendapat kebenaran untuk dilencongkan dari laluan asal Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane.

Akhbar The Sydney Morning Herald melaporkan ketua perkhidmatan perubatan Diah Ratna Dewi sebagai berkata, bayi itu sudah pun dilahirkan dan meninggal dunia apabila penumpang wanita itu tiba di hospital.

“Kita jangka bayi berkenaan lahir kira-kira satu hingga satu setengah jam sebelum kita terimanya. Pesakit memakumkan kepada kita bahawa dia tiada masalah dengan kandungannya,” katanya dipetik sebagai berkata.

Doktor itu menambah bahawa wanita itu dirawat dan diambil oleh syarikat penerbangan itu pada kira-kira pukul 9 malam.

Penerbangan MH135 yang membawa 178 penumpang itu kembali berlepas ke Brisbane selepas dua jam ia membuat pendaratan cemas di Bali. – mStar Online

Dubbed “Arabian cuties”, sisters Sonia and Karizma Varthana have been invited as special guests to the national-level Deepavali celebration in Banda Hilir here on Nov 1.

The girls, aged 10 and 7, who speak Arabic fluently after spending their early years in Bahrain, mesmerised the audience with their bharatanatyam performance at the Zenith International School in Seremban last week.

Among the audience was Malacca’s Private Sector Affairs, Human Resources and NGO Committee chairman Datuk M.S. Mahadevan, who later invited the siblings to the Deepavali do.

Mahadevan, who is one of the coordinators of the event that will be graced by national leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, said he was captivated by the performance of the sisters, who learned the dance in just a year after their return from the Gulf nation.

“We may assign the sisters as flower girls to usher the VIPs on that day,” he said yesterday.

Vishnu Varthana, 35, said his daughters spent most of their early childhood in kindergartens and primary schools in Bahrain and Doha, Qatar, prior to their enrolment at the international school in Seremban.

“They converse well in Arabic and English and are now learning Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil,” he said.

Vishnu, who worked for an international hypermarket chain with branches throughout the Middle East before returning in October last year, now manages the Mydin Hypermarket in Ayer Keroh here.

“My daughters are taking up lessons at Unique Art Academy under the well-known dance master Savithri Sugumaran Nair,” he said.

As latecomers to the art, Sonia and Karizma underwent intensive training and practice, he added.

“It looks like their hard work has paid off.

“We are really delighted to have received the call from Datuk’s (Mahadevan) office on Wednesday,” he said.

Sixteen people were killed and nine others seriously injured when a ventilation grate gave way while they were watching an outdoor pop concert in Seongnam south of Seoul on Friday, rescuers said.

"They were standing on the ventilation grate to get a better view when it collapsed under their weight," a spokesman for the local fire services told AFP.

Rescuers said 16 were confirmed dead, but added the death toll might rise with some of the injured understood to be in critical condition.

Television reports said the 25 people fell more than 10 metres (30 feet) into an underground parking area when the grate collapsed.

Amateur video footage obtained by the YTN news channel showed shocked spectators surrounding the collapsed grate as the popular all-girl K-pop band 4Minute, apparently oblivious to the accident, continued performing on the stage.

More than 700 people were believed to be attending the outdoor concert.

"There was a sudden, loud screaming, and when I turned it looked as if people were being sucked down into a hole," one witness told YTN.

A woman standing nearby said a great "cloud of dust" billowed up from the ventilation shaft after the grate collapsed.

Most of the dead and injured were believed to be students, YTN said, adding that the concert organisers had repeatedly urged the spectators to move off the grate before it collapsed.

South Korea has suffered a recent series of catastrophic accidents involving young victims, including the sinking of the Sewol ferry in April that left more than 300 dead, most of them high school students.

In February, the roof caved in on a student-packed auditorium near the southern city of Gyeongju, killing 10 people and injuring more than 100. An investigation uncovered evidence of structural flaws and lax management controls.

The Sewol disaster prompted government promises of a national review of safety standards, as it became clear that poor regulatory oversight was a major contributor to the scale of the tragedy.

A man holds up a bottle of beer to a police helicopter camera after he was caught shining a bright green LASER to dazzle the pilot. Reckless Chris Vowles was boozing with pals in the back garden of a house in Kitts Green, Birmingham when he targeted the National Police Air Service (NPAS) chopper.

The 23-year-old shone a green laser beam at the helicopter in the early hours of July 31 this year -
temporarily disorientating the pilot as the light bounced through the cabin. But the crew got their revenge when they used powerful thermal imaging cameras to locate the laser source to the garden party.

FBI agents arrested a 25-year-old Austin man Thursday on federal charges after investigators say he shined a laser at an Austin police helicopter.

Gabriel Soza Ruedas Jr. could face up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. Officials said it was the first federal arrest in Central Texas for the charge of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft, which was signed into law in 2012.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas has only arrested one person on the charge previously, after a grand jury in February indicted a man in the El Paso area who was accused of shining a green laser at a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Ruedas is accused of pointing a laser at an Austin police helicopter on Feb. 15. Austin police and the Texas attorney general’s office assisted in the investigation, officials said.

An Austin police helicopter pilot said incidents of people shining lasers at aircraft seem to have increased in recent years. Cpl. Wut Tantaksinanukij said he hears reports of people pointing lasers at private, commercial or police aircraft at least once a month.

The affect can be disorienting.

“Once it hits the air shield, it looks like a disco ball in there,” Tantaksinanukij said. “The light goes everywhere and causes distractions and possible impairment of the officers that are inside the aircraft at that time.”

Austin police would not comment on Ruedas’ case since it is ongoing.

Since 2007, Texas police have had the ability to issue a state charge called “illumination of an aircraft by intense light.” It is a Class C misdemeanor, but can be upgraded to a Class A misdemeanor if investigators can prove the light impaired a pilot’s ability to control the aircraft.

Typically, Tantaksinanukij said, a police helicopter crew will be out on a call when a person shines a laser at them. They will then attempt to pinpoint the location and send in patrol officers to investigate. Officers also investigate reports of laser strikes on private and commercial aircraft that are called in by air traffic controllers.

In 2013, officials received reports of 3,960 incidents of lasers pointed at aircraft, an average of about 11 per day, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Over 5,000 Malaysian names will have a seat on the next National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) mission to Mars.

At press time, a total of 5,368 Malaysian names have been submitted to sent on the Orion flight test on Dec 4, placing the nation in 23rd place for the number of names submitted.

The names will be etched on a microchip that will to be sent on Nasa destinations that are literally out-of-this-world.

"Your name will begin its journey on a dime-sized microchip when the agency's Orion spacecraft launches Dec 4 on its first flight, designated Exploration Flight Test-1," said Nasa in a media release.

"After a 4.5-hour, two-orbit mission around Earth to test Orion's systems, the spacecraft will travel back through the atmosphere at speeds approaching 20,000 mph (3,2187 km/h) and temperatures near 4,000°F (2,204°C), before splashing down in the Pacific Ocean."

But the journey for your name does not end there.

After returning to Earth, the names will also fly on future Nasa exploration flights and missions to Mars.

"With each flight, selected individuals will accrue more miles as members of a global space-faring society," read the statement.

"Nasa is pushing the boundaries of exploration and working hard to send people to Mars in the future," said Orion program manager Mark Geyer.

"When we set foot on the Red Planet, we'll be exploring for all of humanity. Flying these names will enable people to be part of our journey."

The deadline for receiving a personal "boarding pass" on Orion's test flight closes Friday, Oct 31.

However, the public will have an opportunity to keep submitting names beyond Oct 31 to be included on future test flights and future Nasa missions to Mars.

Gadis Pelarian Bosnia Kini Menteri Termuda Di Sweden

Kira-kira 22 tahun lalu, gadis ini adalah pelarian perang dari Bosnia Herzegovina di Sweden, ketika itu beliau berusia lima tahun.

Aida Hadzialic dilahirkan pada tahun 1987 dan merupakan pelajar lulusan undang-undang di Universiti Lund. Pada usianya 23 tahun, beliau menjawat jawatan sebagai Timbalan Datuk Bandaraya Sweden, Hamlstad.

Dan kini, pada usianya 27 tahun beliau merupakan Menteri termuda di Sweden, memegang portfolio Pendidikan Menengah Tinggi Dan Inisiatif Dewasa Sweden.

Menurut Aida, beliau menyertai parti demokrasi sosial kerana tertarik dengan model kebajikan negara itu yang memberikan peluang kepada keluarganya untuk memulakan hidup ketika melarikan diri dari peperangan.

Gadis berjaya ini meminati bidang fotografi sebagai hobinya, menjadikan filem ‘The English Patient’ sebagai filem kegemaran dan menyifatkan penulis Ernest Hemingway sebagai penulis yang terbaik.

Beliau suka mendengar lagu dari Chopin dan Alicia Keys.
