Don't buy your next house,

When a person buys a property like a house, it is common to get a mortgage loan. A mortgage insurance is recommended, but not compulsory, if in the event the borrower passes away or loses his ability totally and permanently to earn a living, then this morgage insurance will (or supposed to) settle the balance outstanding loan amount, hence the property becomes fully paid!

Mortgage insurances are no different than a life insurance (exceptions may apply) but there are a few types of it! This page is intented to promote life insurance as the better alternative to mortgage insurance as compared to any other of its kind like MRTA, MDTA or MLTA!

Why insurance is a good investment?

I think insurance is a good investment because ... it pays me money when I need it the most.

Allow me to give you an example, Twin PA from AIA (having promotion till end of Jan 2014) with Accidental Death & Dismemberment (ADD) of RM 100,000 + 100,000 (promotion) and Disability Living Benefit of (DLB) RM 100,000 - say in the event of loss of use of a limb out of accident - the person will get RM 300,000 for a premium of RM 230 per annum.

To summarize,
Plan 1 of Twin PA, AIA
ADD - RM 100,000 + 100,000 (promotion)
DLB - RM 100,000
Total claim= RM 300,000 (for loss of use of limb due to accident, example)
Premium - RM 220 + 10 (Stamp duty) - per annum

(Note: Without promotion, ADD doubles in third year, Second year ADD is RM 150,000)

That, against if the same person keeps the money in the bank, he/ she only gets RM 230! In the event if nothing happens, treat it as never make the money! After all we still pay for car and house (fire) insurance, what? Why not pay for ourselves?

I got to use PA as an example because PA has a fixed premium rate, immaterial of age, gender & smoker or not (but the above is for Classes 1 & 2).

So, RM 230 against RM 300,000 (as per above example) - good investment or not?

It is good for me! If not, who will give me RM 300,000 when I lose the use of my limb if ever that happens, huh?
