Monitor home with camera

Hi all,

I'm planning to put a camera in my home and view it from my office. I think the best and cheap way to do this is by using Internet camera/IP camera with router. Is there any other way to do this efficiently? What's CCTV? Can we use it this way also?

BTW, i search around and can't find anyone selling IP camera. Where to buy it? I'm interested in this unit : http://www.dlink.com.my/products/dlhome.asp?sec=0&pid=270 or any other brand will do.

Any thought?

Streamyx pop/webmail + MTU

I believe that optimize MTU setting for streamyx is 1492 because we use ppoe but if you test the line using TCPOptimizer from speedguide it will give you the value of 1500. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok now, the default MTU value in my modem is 1400. It's odd that every time I change the value in my modem to 1492 or 1500, I can't access http://webmail.tm.net.my and also unable to download/send email from streamyx pop/smtp server. Everything else work like it should but NOT the tmnet's webmail and pop/smtp server. Why is that? Can someone help to test this just to make sure I'm not alone here?

Thanks for the help.

D-Link 500T + D-Link DI-524UP

Just got myself a new wireless router 524UP. Question: How to setup this router so it will work with my 500T modem/router? Not very sure about the appropriate setting to set in 500T and 524UP, although I'm able to connect to the net but just want to make sure everything is configured like it should.

Also, how to setup portforward for bittorent with this setup? Which one should be configure? Or must configure both? Pls help.

Thanks.

Did TMnet CS admit it?

QUOTE

Thank you for your e-mail to TM Net.

With regards to your e-mail, please be informed that we are not throttling any peer-to-peer (P2P) port including Bit Torrent downloads. Prior to the remarkable rise of P2P traffic recently, it has indiscriminately pushed onto the maximum utilisation of our network capacity, while on the other hand proven to be utilised by only 20% of our total user.

P2P is not totally banned from Streamyx, it is more towards limiting from distributing the bandwidth to be distrubted equally between peers or clients. While this implementation is more towards long term exercise, your current P2P speed shall remain within the range of what you're currently getting at.

Regretfully, this approach can easily be positioned as unfavourable amongst our subscriber, and we're truly aware of this. This will also tie back to your feedback on the fluctuated speed on your broadband connectivity. For that, please also note that Local ISP only have partial ownership on the issue and there are limitations on the jurisdiction that we have to make our subscribers to aware.

But the statement seem to contradict with the first paragraph.?? No throttling but limiting? What's that? And long term practice? We are doom!
