He asked me to resign because he said it will look better on my CV if I left the company myself and I did resigned. I have been applying for a new job but then all interviewers asked why I resigned especially during this time. I feel like I cannot tell the truth because I would come off as a poor performer. But I also cannot say the bs thing about wanting career advancement because I only worked there for 1.5 years (my first job too), I don’t have much experience. I also cannot say I got laid off because that’s not true.
