Hi Forumers.

There seems to be a total lack of reviews for this PSU: Vantec VAN-700AS.

Is there anyone that is using this PSU, if have please let me know what you think of it:

1. The Performance.
2. The Noise Level.
3. The Heat Level.
4. Did it ever break down.
5. Is it a 80+ Bronze. Does it says so on the box.

Any respond is much appreciated.

Many thanks.

ATI HD5850 + Nvidia Physx

Hi Guys,

I have been reading about ATI HD5850 and was thinking of getting it since it can outperform some of the best Nvidia has now.
Then I can across a few articles about some people having two graphic card, one ATI and one Nvidia, with the Nvidia card as the Physx PPU (Physics Processing Unit).

http://www.overclock.net/ati/591872-how-ru...dows-7-ati.html

http://www.ngohq.com/news/16560-patch-re-e...is-present.html

http://icrontic.com/news/patch-restores-ph...ti-card-present

It seems that Nvidia's latest driver blocked this feature (Having ATI as primary and Nvidia as PPU). But someone came out with a mod that will partially restore this feature.

Basically you need these configuration:

An ATI card
An Nvidia card with Physx
And Windows 7 (no XP, if you gonna get directx 11 card, you may as well have Win7).

I am tempted to try this, thinking of having a ATI HD5850 as primary and Nvidia 9500 as PPU.
So I was wondering has anyone tried it here? With a similar configuration of course. It looks like a feature for people who wants DirectX11 and Physx (Nvidia does not have DirectX 11). Share your experience.

Here's a video demo of someone successfully configuring it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgp1mYRYLS0...player_embedded

Here's a benchmark result link:
http://physxinfo.com/news/663/hybrid-physx...0gt-benchmarks/

edit: added youtube link.
edit: added benchmark link

Hi all,

I am looking to purhcase a good and reliable external hard disk. The size of the space must be a 250Gb.
The purpose of this hard disk is to contain the linux image needed by the VMWare Server client.
I am hoping to get a reasonably fast External Hard Disk.
Any suggestions?

Thanks to all in advance
Upgrading New AGP Card

Hello fellow forumers,

My rig is as follows:

3 Gb Kingston RAM
250 Gb HDD
3.0 GHz Pentium 4 (478 pin)
MSI Neo2-V Mobo 865PE+ICH6
Ectiva Sound Card

AGP ATI Radeon 9600SE 256Mb

Ok, my question is, I am thinking of upgrading my video card to a ATI Radeon HD2600XT AGP card. But I am not very confident about my decision.

Can someone please give me some suggestions whether the upgrade is a good idea or not, or whether my Mobo can make good use of the newer graphic card's capabilities. My machine was assembled in 2004, the present graphic card was from then, now the HD2600XT is newer and I was wondering if would there be any compatibility issue.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

5.1 Speaker and Sound Card

Hey guys,

Recently I got a new PC, my Mobo is a Gigabyte AMD GA-M57SLI-S4. It has a internal sound card.
I also got a Sonic Gear Blue Thunder IIR 5.1 speakers.
I have some trouble getting the speakers to work. I followed the manual correctly to connect the subwoofer, centre, back left/right, front left/right speakers, the problem was that at the end, when I have to plug the plugs into the computer I found out that there is only one connection for speaker in the mobo, but I have four plugs from the subwoofer.
I suspect that I do not have a good sound card, and that the mobo internal sound card is inadequate to handle this speakers.
Can someone help me in this, I am really new when it comes to handling sound system.

Thank you.

When I open Internet Explorer, the homepage loads just fine, but when I type in the address and click go, Internet Explorer will hang.

If I set the homepage to a search engine, and use the search engine to search a website, for example Hotmail, the search engine will display out the result just fine, even when I click on the links, it will display the main page of Hotmail, but when I type in my ID and password and click ok, then Internet Explorer will hang again.

This is a rather strange problem. Someone please help

[addedon]July 1, 2007, 12:46 am[/addedon]so... still no one can help?
