Renewing passport from overseas

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has experience in renewing their passport online from overseas?

I'm working overseas and my passport is due to expire in Apr 2019. I'm doing some extensive travelling in Dec 2018 and most countries will need the validity of my passport to be > 6 months before entering their country. My local Malaysian embassy does not do advance passport renewal (meaning if I renew at my local embassy, I can't use autogate for entry/exit to Malaysia and I really need that feature )

I've got a few questions regarding the online e-service for passport renewal:
1) After applying online, how long does it take for the immigration to approve the passport?
2) Once the passport has been approved, how much time do I have to collect it? I read somewhere that I must collect it within 3 months, not sure if this is true.
3) I'm flying back to Malaysia in Sept 2018 for a short stay, if I apply today and it gets approved by then, can I just walk into my pre-selected immigration office and collect there and then? Or will they give you a designated time slot to come in and collect?

Thank you in advance.

Colourful water bottle

Hey guys, I'm trying to find out the name of this particular brand of water bottle. I'll try to give as much info as I can remember.

This bottle is in trend about 10 years ago. It's a disposable water bottle, but the quality of the bottle is super good. As in, you squeeze the bottle, it won't kemek one. So everyone will bring it to school and use.

The distinguish feature of the bottle is the colour. It's super bright coloured and I can only remember it being in purple, green and yellow. The surface of the bottle is not smooth, but rather a little gritty.

Also, (this info I'm not sure, might be wrong), I think the label on the bottle has animal prints on it. Some of it has leopard print, or tiger print, but kids normally tear it off.

Can anyone remember the brand name?

Fluctuating Macbook memory

I've got a 2007 Santa Rosa Blackbook, it has served me very well. Except till now..

My hard disc space seems to be fluctuating excessively recently. I did a Google search on this, and it all shows that it's either:
1) OS X is indexing, which happens all the time. Except not for my case, since indexing only fluctuates +-1GB
2) One user have lots of apps running, and it fluctuates ~9GB. Sounds like my case! Except that mine still fluctuates after a fresh reboot.

So my situation is, my MB memory has always been running low (around 5-7GB) but I like to keep it that way (wait la, no time to backup my bootlegged items). Recently, something seems to be 'eating' my memory. It goes like this, I would boot my MB up, open Finder and stare at the available HD space. Goes down by 3.5GB. Goes back up to 6GB. Go down to 4GB. Goes further down to 2GB. Goes back to normal. Rinse, repeat. Sometimes this would happen all in 5 minutes. The WORSE part was it once went down to 0KB available!! I can't let that happen since I'm always doing lots of word processing and I need a stable workspace to constantly save my documents.

My warranty + ACPP ends this Dec 2010. Was wondering was anyone faced with this situation before? I'm sitting at a comfortable 3.41GB right now but I never know when it would plummet to less..

Hopefully I can claim it while warranty is still available. My battery is bulging slightly too, will get that fixed ASAP.

Thanks ya..

Software for back ups

Here is my story:

I work on very large files (think hundreds of GB for each file), I would need a software that would backup my data once to an external hard disk, then subsequently I want to work on the file.

Now, I back my data up everyday. When I work on the file on my local machine, by the end of the day I would need to back up the file, which mean sending the file to my external hard disk and this could take nearly 30 mins to an hour everyday.

Is there a way or software to allow me to work on both files simultaneously? Meaning I would be working on my local file AND my backed up copy so that I do not need to send a copy to my external hard disk everyday?

I do not mind the price, I just need a few recommendations then I can get my department to purchase it

Thanks guys

Hey guys,

Anyone tried those 1/4" to 1/8" connectors that connects your electric guitar directly to your mic port of your laptop?

Are these connectors efficient? As in how's the sound quality and such.

Or do you guys use the connector that plugs the other end into your USB port? I read online that these are better in sound quality because it converts to digital signals creating a clearer sound.

I'm just wanting to play around with my Mac's Garage Band during my upcoming semester break

Cheers guys!

Of dogs and grass

I know this would start off as a very weird thread, but I recently changed the grass to my lawn and I don't want it to die.

The only place my dog can pee + poo is my house's front lawn. The poo doesn't cause any problem, but the pee is causing brown patches of dead grass. I used to wash the area with water after he pees but I can't do that all the time. I recently changed the grass of my front lawn due to a house renovation and I don't want to see brown patches again.

Any idea what I could do? Asking my dog to pee somewhere else is not acceptable because the grass is the only place he can do it. Is it his diet that's causing his pee to become acidic?

Cheers all, would love to hear from all dog owners who's got a front lawn and know what I mean

How to disable Expose?

I currently utilise two Spaces for studies.

Space 1 = MacOSX
Space 2 = Windows XP Pro

Firstly, I did not use Bootcamp to run XP. I'm using virtualisation with VMWare Fusion on Space 2. What it does is it's running XP on top of MacOSX.

Now my configuration is, I set my lower left corner to show desktop. The problem is, when I'm in Space 2, my mouse tends to hit the corner (cause XP's Start button is that corner mah) and it shows the desktop. I find that pretty annoying because I have to constantly tell myself to not hit the corner and it's beginning to irk me

So my question is, can I disable Expose in Space 2 alone?

Domo
