Buying handphone in China

Hello everyone, I am thinking of buying handphone in China...I have friend who goes there every month. So, can I bought the handphone from China and use it in Malaysia. Is it need to be unlocked before I can use? If yes, how much would that be?

Hello...I have a friend from China, he bought his Iphone from China and want to use it in Malaysia. However, do not know what's the reason, he can't use it. Anyone know what to do? Is it need to be unlocked again.
