CD-ROM cannot read CD

Goodday,
my laptop just recover from brontok virus and some other virus. After doing some virus cleaning using AVG antivirus free and other tools, i've found that my cd-rom not work. It cannot read any cd. When i open my computer the dvd/cd-rw drive exist but when i click to show the file it shows nothing. Before this it's ok. Can someone help me to solve my problem. I want to format my laptop but since my cd-rom cannot read data, it can't be format. I think the virus had affected my registry of my cd-rom. Help me please!!!!
