AMBank Whacked me without me knowing!

I took up a housing loan with MBF around 1995 to buy a condo in PD as the development was under MBF Properties.
According to the agreement signed with MBF, the interest rate was BLR+0.5 with tanure of 240 months.

After diligently paying for the past 18 years with payment above the minimum installment, I found out today that after the MBF merger to form Ambank, my interest rate was revised to BLR + 1.5% for reasons only known to them.

The extra payment that I thought would cover my installments for months apparently wasn't enough and my account defaulted by RM5 for over 60 days, thus the have exercised their "discretion" to add in another 1% which makes my interest rate BLR+2.5%. At the current BLR of 6.6, I will be paying an interest of 9.1% because of my RM5 default that even I didn't know about until today.

In contrast, my present house loan interest is BLR-2.5 ie 4.1%

I can't refinance coz no other bank would touch this property and even Ambank themselves would not refinance.

I am planning to file in a complaint with Bank Negara (Ambank said that this revision was allowed by BNM)

In the meantime, heads up to those who have loans with MBF before the merger as this might happen to you too.

Any helps, thoughts with regards to this is very much appreciated.

I am a victim of bullying and unscrupulous profiteering by AMBank.
