Simulate Lower Unifi Speed for Testing

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to cut down monthly expenses and wondering whether downgrading my Unifi plan to is a good move. I'm currently on 800mbps turboed plan.
My family of 5 rely heavily on i**v streaming/netflix/youtube and general browsing for entertainment. All 5 of us are constantly connected to the internet.

Questions are:

1. Any way to simulate lower speed to test viability of 100mbps for us?
2. Will 100mbps be sufficient for us? Anyone with the same experience?

Tia.

Extend Astro Byond To Laptop

Greetings all,

I'm thinking of extending Astro Byond to a laptop instead of a PC with capture card. The only 2 ways I can think of
are these:

1. Astro Composite out/Component Out--->RF Modulator---->AEM Extra Link (via coax)--->USB Tuner Dongle
--->Laptop. (cheaper solution)

2. Astro Composite out/Component Out--->Wireless Extender--->USB Tuner Dongle--->Laptop.

Question is, anyone tried this before? Another TV would be easier but I'm scared the wifey wouldn't agree to
a 3rd LCD TV

Thanks in advance.

Best Affordable HDMI input receiver

Can anyone suggest a most affordable HDMI receiver for Byond with the price and where to get it?
And secondly would the use of coax to optical converter (for connecting to non-coax receiver/HT systems) degrade the quality?

Thanks is advance.

Which Media Extender For Both PCs & Macs?

I've searched through the forum but it seems to be lack of discussion about Media Extenders, be it for Windows or Mac.

I recently bought a DLink Dir655 ExtremeN Router, very proud and satisfied with it and just started to expand the usage with other gadgets like VOIP phones, networked printers, bla...bla..bla. But my most immediate (my hands are itching as we speak) desire is to set up a Media Extender for both my PC and Mac OSx86

Now, I've been doing some research and came up with the conclusion that considering the router I'm using, my best choice for investment is the DLink DSM 750 (c'mon, everybody say...Goooogle!) Full HD support, Wireless N, WM11 compatible, mpeg-4 capable and lots more, this seems to be the perfect couple for my superfast router (at least until I can fork out some more dough for a DIR 855)

Dreams and drools aside, I still can't determine whether it's compatible with a Mac or not. Probably not, but if so...what would be the better choice? One that is compatible with both Windows and Mac while capitalizing on the wireless N thingy?

Or maybe I just have to be satisfied with Windows doing all the media streaming?

Any comments?
