RESTAURANT MOGHUL MAHAL: NORTHERN INDIAN FOOD
Moghul Mahal is pronounced Moghul Meh-hel and it means, Moghul Palace. how grand! Good After Noon is a greeting offered, when one walks in for lunch at this restaurant!

People normally eat this last in any good Northern Indian restaurant but I love to eat it first as I enter the shop. What is it? Well, fennel seeds of course. The distinctive liquorice taste is so delicious and reminds me of candy. Not only that, fennel is one of the best digestive aids in town. The seeds can be used in cooking, or made into a tasty licorice tea, and is useful to relieve abdominal cramps, gas and bloating. So the way I see it, if you eat this first (as opposed to at the end of the meal) then you can eat that much more without feeling sick. Maybe.

At Moghul Mahal, the first thing that catches your eye is, apart from spanking new, white and pristine tiles, this shop has the most amazing selection of Indian sweets. It goes on for as far as the eye can see. We spent ages photographing the candy but the waiters here were extremely helpful and took out tray after tray for us to shoot. How obliging. For more information about this Northern Indian Restaurant, please click here

DOES YARL RESTAURANT NEED A PISSING TANKER?

I had earlier posted an article/video about yarl restaurant's worker pissing into the drain. When I tried to reply one of the comments there, I was told that the article is locked. What does it mean by that? Anyway, you should really watch this video about the "pissing tanker" @ this link. It is really funny. Is pissing on the streets a kind of tradition? Is it an acceptable thing to do? Why do people like to piss on the streets in India?

Here is a video of yarl restaurant's outdoor kitchen-cum-toilet. Do you know how restaurant workers can prepare food and piss in the same place? This video will show you how this can be done.
A message for yarl restaurant's victims

Yesterday, one of my neighbours (an old lady) came to see me. Guess what she said? She said that both she and her husband couldn't sleep because at around 5.00 a.m. every morning, yarl restaurant's workers are already making a lot of noise chopping chicken, pounding chilly, and dragging the gas tanks around. (It never occurred to me that chopping chicken, pounding chilly and pushing the gas tanks around can also be also be a form of noise pollution because I am more concerned with the kitchen hood noise). She said that she and her husband have to stay in the living room all the time to escape from the noise. The only time they enter their bedroom is at night after yarl restaurant turned off its noisy kitchen hood but since yarl restaurant starts making noise at 5.00 a.m. every morning, they find it very difficult to sleep in their bedroom. These poor old folks have to leave their bedroom at 5.00 a.m. every morning and sit in the living room the whole day until bedtime. Whenever I walk past their door (which is open most of the time, I see them sitting in the living room). In actual fact, their flat is not as near to yarl restaurant as mine so it seems that my family is suffering more that theirs. This old lady asked me to talk to yarl restaurant's boss and ask him to stop the noise. I told her to come together with me and talk to him. Guess what she said? She said that she is scared and that it is not good for Indians to talk to Indians like that. She said that since I am Malay, it is better for me to confront yarl restaurant's boss and settle the matter with him. And of course there are those who said that it is useless complaining to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) because no one will take action. (Is it because Thilagenthiran a/l Somasundram is Indian and it is NOT nice for him to take any action against yarl restaurant? It is no wonder Thilagenthiran a/l Somasundram is not doing anything with yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program). I could remember some years back when my wife woke up at 5.00 a.m. to pound chilly with the pestle and mortar. The neighbors above us immediately took a piece of wood and struck my awning repeatedly whilst shouting at us telling us to stop because they wanted to sleep. Why is it that they dare not do the same to yarl restaurant? So my readers, this is the state of mind / attitude of yarl restaurant's victims i.e. they are suffering day and night but they dare not voice out. They want others to voice out for them. Those who suffer most are the old folks and young children as we cannot expect them to get up so early in the morning. What I write today is intended to be a message for all those who are suffering from yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program, pleading them to work together to end their sufferings. More at
http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...ts-victims.html

Maybe you would also like to see photos of yarl restaurant's crow infested outdoor kitchen. I already feel like vomiting when I see the crows.

Why is the Kuala Lumpur City Hall telling lies?

It is obvious that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is telling lies. If you look carefully at the picture of yarl restaurant's kitchen hood, there is no drain below the kitchen hood where the ground is cemented. Anything fishy here? There is also another saying: With money even the cemented ground can turn into the drain! Once again, it is for the DBKL to tell us how true this saying is! What the DBKL should do now is to find out why their officers are telling lies for yarl restaurant. It could be that each time I send an email to the DBKL, this email is forwarded the same person who has to tell lies for yarl restaurant due to some selfish purposes of his own and that is why no action can be taken by the DBKL. Who knows, one day, even the flies can turn into raisins and can be eaten! More at http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...-hall-dbkl.html

And one more thing! Yarl restaurant is very good at criminal threatening! More at http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...hreatening.html

DBKL says you can disturb people with loud noise

My dear readers and friends, I have some good news for you today. Do you like to turn on your CD player, television, and computer speakers loudly between 5.30 a.m. - 6.30 a.m. in the morning to disturb your neighbours? Do you like to turn on your CD player, television or computer speakers loudly the whole day from early morning till midnight to disturb your neighbours? Well, according to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, you can do so as long as your CD player, television, and computer speakers are inside your house. There is no noise pollution as long as the source of noise is inside your house even though the loud and deafening noise that you make is disturbing the entire neighbourhood and can be heard from afar! For more information, please click:
http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...st-joke-on.html

Why the DBKL Shouldn't Increase the Cukai Pintu?

Before I start writing, I would like to make it very clear that I don't like the idea of getting up at 5.30 a.m. to write this article when I should be sleeping. It is yarl restaurant's boss who forced me to wake up and write this.

Last night, yarl restaurant turned off its loud and deafening kitchen hood at 10.20 p.m. but this morning at 5.30 a.m., it's loud and deafening kitchen hood noise can be heard again loud and clear, disturbing the entire neighbourhood much to the dismay of everyone. This means that we could only get 7 hours sleep. As a citizen of Malaysia, getting 8 hours sleep a day is an impossibility because yarl restaurant's boss doesn't allow that. As I am typing out this article now, the kitchen hood noise is causing vibrations in my bedroom. In actual fact, yarl restaurant's boss is turning on his noisy kitchen hood earlier and earlier with each passing day. Why is it so? To make us accept his loud and deafening kitchen hood noise gradually so that he could operate his restaurant round-the-clock. Looks like he has this intention. If there were no complaints, he would love to turn on his loud and deafening kitchen hood at 5.00 a.m. and make loud and deafening noise with his kitchen hood until 12 midnight. It has happened before and I won't be surprised if he were to turn on his noisy kitchen hood 24 hours a day. Actions speak louder than words and his selfishness is clearly manifested in the way he is torturing us with his noisy kitchen hood. He knows that his kitchen hood is making loud and deafening noise but still insists to turn it on at such an early hour in the morning. He even lied to Fong Kui Lun (MP for this area)'s assistant 4 months ago that he would solve the noise problem without any intention to so. His noisy kitchen hood is operating at maximum noise capacity and is very loud and deafening even in the afternoons. What about the early mornings when everywhere is so quiet that you can even hear a pin drop? At 5.30 a.m. in the morning, yarl restaurant's loud and deafening kitchen hood sounds louder than an earthquake to us. Where are we to sleep if we can't even sleep in our bedrooms?

Why is it that no action is taken at all by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) despite repeated complaints by the residents? According to the environmental laws, yarl restaurant's boss cannot turn on his loud and deafening kitchen hood before 7.00 a.m. and must shut it down by 10.00 p.m. Why is it that yarl restauran't boss dare to turn on his kitchen hood loudly at 5.30 a.m. in the morning? The fact that yarl restaurant's boss has the guts to turn on his noisy kitchen hood earlier and earlier each day clearly shows how redundant the DBKL is in dealing with noise pollution. If the DBKL is unable to deal with a simple issue like this, does it have the right to increase our property taxes between 100-250%? (The kitchen hood noise stopped suddenly at 5.46 a.m. but resumed again loud and clear at 6.20 a.m. Maybe someone went down to complain).

Let us look at the reasons why the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) shouldn't increase the "cukai pintu". I'll list them out one by one below.

1.According to the DBKL, the value of our property increases with the property taxes. Would anyone in their right senses buy a house in an area which is plagued by noise pollution? Who wants to suffer from sleep deprivation and the health hazards that accompany yarl restaurant's noise pollution program? Those who can afford to live elsewhere would flee to avoid the sufferings that yarl restaurant's noise pollution program is causing them. Instead of increasing our "cukai pintu" the DBKL should compensate us for the sufferings that we have to endure due to yarl restaurant's noise pollution program because of their incapability in dealing with this issue. We should also be exempted from paying any property taxes because our flats have become an earthly hell not habitable by ordinary human beings. Even the animals in the zoo have a better living environment than us. So what are we paying the DBKL for? Noise pollution and the devaluation of our property? Sleep deprivation and health hazards?

2.The DBKL officers cannot tell the difference between a speaker and a kitchen hood. This sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Is something fishy going on? Why pretend that the speaker is the kitchen hood when they came to check at the restaurant? Even a child can tell the difference between the speaker and the kitchen after looking at a picture of the kitchen hood. The link to my blog in my email to DBKL has a very clear photo of the kitchen hood (at the back of yarl restaurant). Why just stay in the restaurant and assume that the speaker is the kitchen hood? So what are we paying for? DBKL's Fishiness?

3.The situation in the neighbourhood hasn't shown any improvements at all. It has been the same all these 30 years. But of course we have something extra that we do not want here - yarl restaurant's noisy kitchen hood which the DBKL cannot do anything about. So what are we paying the DBKL for? For Yarl restaurant's noisy kitchen hood?

4.Home should be the best place on earth but yarl restaurant's victims do not even have a place they can call home. Can you call your house a home when you can't even enter your bedrooms throughout the day because of noise pollution? Can you call your house a home when you can't even sleep in your bedroom and must get up and leave your bedroom at 5.30 a.m.? Can you call your house a home when you don't even have a place to dry your clothes? Imagine the feeling of satisfaction that you have after doing your washing only to find that your clothes are soaked with yarl restaurant's curry when you put them out to dry! And now we have to dry our clothes in the living room. What are we paying the DBKL for? For not being able to stay in our home? For yarl restaurant's curry smell that pollutes the air in our bedrooms? For having no place to dry our clothes?

5.Due to the loud and deafening noise in our bedrooms, our children have no place to study and ended up with bad results. What are we paying the DBKL for? For our children's bad results?

6.Due to lack of sleep, I cannot perform well at work. Sleepiness is causing me to experience bouts of dizziness (I can feel my brain swinging even now). I also become very forgetful - forgetting my clients' names and my mind often goes blank whilst I am going giving a talk. So what am I paying for? For my poor performance at work?

7.Yarl restaurant's noise and air pollution program is a very clear case of oppression in Malaysia. Could anyone suffer so much in the hands of another but is unable to complain because the DBKL is totally redundant? Please remember that this is already the 21st Century and not the cowboy era. The failure of the DBKL to deal with air and noise pollution clearly shows how inefficient it is. So what are we paying for? For DBKL's inefficiency and redundancy?

The DBKL should not only reduce our property taxes to RM0.00 because of our degrading living conditions caused by yarl restaurant's loud and deafening kitchen hood noise but also give us an allowance to pay for our electricity bills. This is because we have to turn on some kind of music or nature sounds to cover up yarl restaurant's loud and deafening kitchen hood noise whenever we stay in our bedrooms. The increase in electricity tariffs would mean that we have to pay more but why should we spend more on electricity for the sake of yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program? Since the DBKL cannot do anything about yarl restaurant's noise and air pollution program, then they should compensate us this way!

More at http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...l-shouldnt.html

DBKL thought that the speaker was the kitchenhood

Today yarl restaurant turned on its loud and deafening kitchen hood at 6.10 a.m. The noise is so loud and deafening that there is only one thing that we could do and that is to leave our bedrooms immediately. This is already the 21st century but we are still living in a cowboy town. I think that it's really a great joke that lawlessness still prevails in this era. Anyone can simply come into town, threaten your life but you can do nothing to stop them. Is there any law to protect the basic rights of the citizens of Malaysia or is it because we have laws that no one obeys and the law enforcers couldn't be bothered to enforce them?

What happened to my report to the Kuala Lumpur City Council? The kitchen hood was mistaken to be the speaker inside the restaurant which yarl said restaurant's boss said was only temporary and intended to attract customers during Deepavali. Lying again, I suppose and he must have shut the gate at the back of the restaurant so that the DBKL officers couldn't see the kitchen hood outside the gate. (Though I do wonder how this mistake could be made when the photo of the kitchen hood is so clear in my blog article and I have provided a link to this blog article in my email to DBKL). What happened to the kitchen hood that I was talking about? It is very obvious that yarl restaurant's boss turned it off whenever someone comes to check. The DBKL officers should go to the back of the restaurant to check and they can see clearly what the kitchen hood is like. Please read the following email from the Kuala Lumpur City Council.

Siasatan / Tindakan :
Tarikh Tindakan Diambil : 01-11-2013 08:38

Kenalpasti Punca :
1.Tiada kacauganggu bunyi bising semasa siasatan.
2.Pemantauan akan diteruskan.
Tarikh : 01-11-2013 08:38

Tindakan Pencegahan Yang Diambil :
1.Amaran dan teguran kpd pengusaha restoran.
2.Notis kacauganggu akan dikeluarkan.

Nama Pegawai : Thilagenthiran A/L S.Somasundram
Jawatan : Penolong Pegawai Kesihatan Persekitaran
Tarikh : 01-11-2013 08:38

Walau bagaimana pun pihak kami akan membuat aduan baru untuk tuan, dan pihak kami akan memaklumkan perkara ini kepada jabatan yang berkenaan.

Sekian, terima kasih.

ALLI CAN SAY IS THAT THEY REALLY HAVE A VIVID IMAGINATION FOR ASSUMING THAT THE SPEAKER IS THE KITCHEN HOOD!

Below is a picture of yarl restaurant's defective kitchen hood which can only function properly when it is making loud and deafening noise.

Electricity tariff up 15% next year

Even now as I am typing out this article at 9.22 p.m., yarl restaurant's kitchen hood noise is so damned noisy. Since I have to turn on my computer to listen to some nature sounds to cover the noise, I might as well type this article. Nowadays I have to turn on my computer 17 hours a day to listen to the nature sounds so that these sounds can cover up yarl restaurant's loud and deafening kitchen hood noise. With the electricity tariff up 15% next year, maybe yarl restaurant's boss should pay for my electricity bills Life is really getting tougher and tougher. What with the GST (Goods and Services tax) looming ahead, the rise in electricity tariffs and cukai taksiran, the price hike in so many things, and here I am, without a proper place to stay at this age because of the kitchen hood noise - I am beginning to lose hope for the future. How I miss those good old days when everything was so cheap and the neighbourhood so quiet and peaceful!

Following weeks of speculation, Putrajaya today announced that electricity rates in Peninsula Malaysia will be up by 14.98% or 4.99 sen to 38.53 sen per kWh, and five sen for Sabah and Labuan, effective January 1 next year.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili announced the new rates in a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

This move was anticipated after Putrajaya announced its plans to trim fuel subsidies for power producers in the first quarter of 2014.

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Loo Took Gee was quoted as saying that the reduction in fuel subsidies for the power sector was essential to stabilise the economy.

The current average tariff rate in Malaysia is 33.5 sen per kWh, which is 8.5 sen or 25.3% below the real cost, which is 42 sen per kWh.

Previously, MyPower Corporation – a special-purpose agency set up to drive reforms in the Malaysian electricity industry – was reported as saying that it had completed studies on several aspects of reform, including adjustments to tariff.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Majid had said if fuel subsidies were to be gradually removed, then the indicative tariff rate would be around 42 sen per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared with the current subsidised rate of 33.5 sen/kWh.

He said the cost of generating a unit currently is about 30.9 sen/kWh. MyPower had predicted an increase of about 8.5 sen a kilowatt, which worked out to about a 26% increase.

Ongkili had earlier attempted to justify the move by saying tariffs in Malaysia were still lower than in Thailand and the Philippines, but slightly higher than in Indonesia, which subsidises its power sector the most.

The last increase in electricity tariff was in June 2011, when the subsidised gas price was raised to RM13.70 per million metric British thermal unit (mmbtu) from RM10.70 mmbtu.

Subsidies for the power sector are estimated to be around RM8-RM12 billion per year, depending on the cost of input fuel or gas. – December 2, 2013.

Is Malaysia Really Lacking in Integrity?

The generation of unreasonable noise within the environment is regarded as a form of pollution because it lowers the quality of life. There have been several specific ways in which excessive noise can affect people adversely.

Noise has been found to interfere with our activities at three levels; (a) audio logical level in referring with the satisfactory performance of the hearing mechanism; (b) biological level interfering with the biological functioning of the body; and © behavioural level affecting the sociological behaviour of the subjects. Because of this the noise affects categorically, performance, physiology and psychology.

Noise pollution has been known to cause nervous disorder, headache, high blood pressure and short memory. The various of noise pollution is summarized below:

(a) Depression and fatigue, which considerably reduces the efficiency of a person.

(b) Insomnia as a result of lack of undisturbed and refreshing sleep.

© Straining of senses and annoyance as a result of slow but persistent noise from motorcycles, alarm clocks, call bells, telephone rings and deafening and endless noise from kitchen hoods, etc.

(d) It is a cause of frustration and is associated with difficulty in concentration, disturbance of rest, physical and mental fatigue. Low frequency noise of 50 to 60 dB affects the higher centre of brain and causes an alternation in the normal sleep pattern and prevents sound sleep.

(e) Noise, which is an annoyance also causes irritation dis-satisfaction, dis-interest and affects work "performance. Noise has been reported both to improve and to decrease work efficiency, depending on its intensity, duration and frequency distribution etc.

Various physiological as well as pathologic effects of noise pollution are as follows:

(a) Noise pollution affects human health, comfort and efficiency. It cause contraction of blood vessels, makes, the skin pale, leads to excessive secretion of adrenalin hormone into blood stream with is responsible for high blood pressure.

(b) It causes muscles to contract leading to nervous breakdown, tension and even insanity.

© Noise effects are anxiety, stress reaction and fright. These adverse reactions are coupled with a change in hormone content of blood, which in turn produces increased rate of heart beat, constriction of blood vessels, digestive sperms and dilation of pupil of eye.

(d) The most immediate and acute effect of noise is the impairment of hearing, which diminishes by the damage of some part of auditory system. When exposed to very loud and sudden noise acute damage occurs to the eardrum. Prolonged exposure to noise of certain frequency pattern will lead to chronic damage to the hair cells in the inner ear.

(e) Auditory fatigue appears in the 90 dB associated with whistling and buzzing in ears. Temporary deafness occurs at 4000-6000 Hz, and this effect is known as Temporary Threshold Shift (TTS), Permanent loss of hearing occurs at 100 dB due to continuous noise exposure. Under such conditions, the auditory threshold shift is called Permanent Threshold Shift (PTS). Besides chronic hearing loss, there may be instantaneous damage or acoustic trauma, which may be caused by very high intensity impulsive noise resulting from an explosion or sudden excessive noise of more than 150 dB.

(f) Physiological effects of noise pollution include neurosis, hypertension, increase in sweating, hepatic diseases, giddiness, peptic ulcers, undesirable change in gastro intestinal activities behavioural and emotional stress.

(g) Noise mainly interferes with man's communication. It is easily visualized that a conversation can be carried on in whisper in a still place, while one his to shout to make sense in a noisy factory.

(h) Blood gets thickened by excessive noise. Changes in breathing amplitude have also been reported due to impulsive noise.

(i) Noise causes cosinophilia, hyperglycarmia, hypokalaemia and hypoglycarmia by a change in blood and other body fluids.

(j) Noise causes chronic headache and irritability; work, which needs a high degree of skill, is considerably affected. The overall working efficiency goes down when noise level goes up.

Noise pollution interferes with the ability to comprehend normal speech and may lead to a number of personal disabilities, handicaps, and behavioral changes. These include problems with concentration, fatigue, uncertainty, lack of self confidence, irritation, misunderstandings, decreased working capacity, disturbed interpersonal relationships, and stress reactions. Some of these effects may lead to increased accidents, disruption of communication in the classroom, and impaired academic performance. Particularly vulnerable groups include children and the elderly.

Uninterrupted sleep is known to be a prerequisite for good physiologic and mental functioning in healthy individuals. Environmental noise is one of the major causes of disturbed sleep. When sleep disruption becomes chronic, the results are mood changes, decrements in performance, and other long-term effects on health and well-being. Much recent research has focused on noise from aircraft, roadways, and trains. The noise from the kitchen hoods can also be very devastating since it is continuous and deafening and may even last up to 18 hours a day. It is known, for example, that continuous noise in excess of 30 dB disturbs sleep. When there is insufficient sleep, the entire human body is seriously and adversely affected. WHY THEN IS THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT ENCOURAGING NOISE POLLUTION?
A Letter to Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL)

At 6.15 a.m. this morning (28 September 2013), as usual, I was woken up by Yarl restaurant's loud kitchen hood noise again. Yarl restaurant made noise until 11.00 p.m. last night (27 September 2013) and this morning the loud noise started again as early as 6.15 a.m. This means that its victims are only allowed 7 hours and 15 minutes of sleep today - far from what is recommended by the health authorities. Though I tried to cover my ears with two pillows, I still couldn't sleep even though I am very sleepy and that's why I am writing this letter.

Since Yarl restaurant started operation in January this year, it has become a great nuisance to everyone in the neighbourhood. The reasons are clearly stated in two of my earlier articles namely "Serious Noise Pollution in Brickfields" at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2951694 and "A Letter to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak" at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2962198

I have read about the operating hours of the restaurants in many countries. According to the laws in these countries, the restaurants are only allowed to operate from at 7.00 a.m. until 10.00 p.m. on weekdays. On a Sunday, the restaurants can only open at 8.00 a.m. because it is understood that people will sleep late on a Sunday. But for yarl restaurant, there is no such thing as Sunday. On Sundays, as usual, it will set its natural alarm clock early in the morning to wake everyone up. How come Yarl restaurant can operate in such an uncivilized way? How come Yarl restaurant can operate whenever it wants at the expense of others? Looks like it has the intention to open round-the-clock in the future. It if wants to make loud deafening noise, go and find a place where it's not facing anyone's bedroom windows. Why put the kitchen hood in front of people's bedroom windows and make noise all the time waking everyone up so early in the morning?

The painful truth is Yarl restaurant's victims have no freedom to sleep when they want. We do not dare to sleep late, dare not watch midnight movie, dare not go out late at night because we know that Yarl restaurant will wake us up early. Does anyone have the right to order people when to sleep and when to wake up in Malaysia? Even our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak does not tell us when to sleep and when to wake up. How would the Malaysians react if our beloved Abang Najib were to tell us to sleep at a certain hour and wake up at a certain hour each day? How would the Malaysians react if Abang Najib were to say that we are only allowed 7 hours of sleep each day? But it seems that Yarl restaurant is given the right to tell its victims when to sleep and when to wake up. To impose a rule on its victims telling them when to sleep and when to wake up is a gross violation of human rights. To make loud deafening noise all the time making it impossible for its victims to go into their bedrooms when Yarl restaurant is operating is a gross violation of human rights. Who has the right to ban anyone form entering their rooms for 17 hours a day? It seems that Yarl restaurant has this right. To pollute the air with curry and making our clothes soak with curry each time we put them out to dry is a gross violation of human rights. Who has the right to pollute the air with curry? Again it seems that Yarl restaurant has this right? The question is who has given Yarl restaurant all these rights?

Below is a photo of Yarl restaurant's kitchen hood that is continuously emanating loud, deafening noise to disturb the neighbourhood and churning out curry particles to pollute the air. For more information about yarl restaurant, please click here. I have also started a Facebook specially for this noise and air pollution issue. The name of the Facebook is "Pencemaran Bunyi di Brickfields".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning (29 September 2013) the restaurant started operation at 6.30 a.m. I only managed to get 7 hours of sleep because the restaurant made noise and operated until 11.30 p.m. last night (28 September 2013). Why complain? To endure 17 hours of loud, deafening, and continuous noise from the kitchen hood that causes the whole building to vibrate is more than what an ordinary man could bear. The noise is seriously affecting my health. I can't focus on my work because I am tired and don't have enough sleep. After a stressful day's work, I only come home to be disturbed by endless loud and deafening noise. I can't even think properly nowadays. I am writing this because my rights as an ordinary citizen of Malaysia is seriously infringed. What is the meaning of "rakyat diutamakan"? I don't even have the right to sleep peacefully for 8 hours each day. I have a house but am homeless. What is even worse is I cannot say anything or do anything about it. To all those who feel that I shouldn't make noise about this issue, are you also trying to imply that the Bukit Merah victims and Lynas victims should also shut up about their situation if they can't afford to move elsewhere? In other words, are you trying to say that the poor who can't afford to buy another house because the house that they are living in has become totally uninhabitable (because someone has just set up some kind nuisance business there) should accept their fare and suffer silently?

A Letter to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

Do you know that yarl restaurant's workers do not care about hygiene? Please click http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.c...o-not-care.html to read more.

Dear Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,
I don't know how to get this letter to you. After considering for a long time, I finally decided to post this letter online and make a link in your website and facebook so that you can get to read it. Guess this is the best way. If you care for your fellow Malaysians, you will take the trouble to read this.

Why am I so desperate to write to you? This morning (17 September 2013), as usual, I had to jump out of bed at 6.20 a.m. after working late last night when the restaurant turned on its kitchen hood. The noise is deafening and I can't sleep even though I am very sleepy and tired now. Will have to sleep on the sofa in the living room again today. I am just an ordinary citizen who yearns for 8 hours sleep each day but even this basic right is denied to me. After being plagued by noise from Yarl Restaurant for nine months to the extent that I can't take it anymore because my health and the well-being of my children are being seriously affected by this deafening noise from Yarl Restaurant, I am left without a choice but to write this letter to you in the hope that the appropriate action will be taken to bring back peace once more to the flat dwellers of Tong Fatt Building, Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, Brickfields.

Datuk Seri, I don't need your BR1M and my children don't need your book vouchers. You can keep the money for nation building. I only want to have 8 hours sleep everyday so that I can do my work properly and my children only want to study peacefully in their rooms. But sad to say, even this most basic right is denied to us. With the restaurant emanating loud and continuous noise all the time I can't even sleep properly and have to go to work sleepy and tired everyday. Whenever my wife puts out the clothes to dry, the clothes are soaked in curry because the air is contaminated with curry. Our rooms are also filled with curry smell. What is even worse is my children cannot study properly. My son is sitting for PMR this year whilst my eldest daughter is sitting for her SPM this year. They have to stay in the living room to do revision whilst their maternal grandmother is watching TV and their neighbours are listening to songs. How can we build a strong 1 Malaysia nation if our children can't even have a proper place to study? What is even sadder is my children now prefer to stay away from home as much as possible because of the noise. They cannot go into their rooms in the daytime to do school work or even to read a book. In the past, they used to read in the balcony but can't do so now or they will end up deaf because the noise from the restaurant is really deafening. They have stopped doing the nilam program and have even resorted to copying the book summaries from their friends. Whenever they are in their room, they have to turn on some music to cover the noise from the kitchen hood. Recently, my son gave excuses that he wanted to study in his friend's house because of the noise from the kitchen hood and he ended up at Mid-Valley!

What will our children become if they don't even have a proper place to study and can't even stay at home? I fear that they will be influenced by their peers and get involve with a life of crime. If the Malaysian government is looking for ways to battle crime, this is the first thing that they have to look into. What would our children do if they can't stay in their own home to study? We are not rich and can't afford to buy another house. I hope that appropriate action will be taken for the future of our Malaysian children. By the way, the restaurant that is causing noise pollution is yarl restaurant. Below you can see the photo of the kitchen hood at the back of this restaurant. If the restaurant owner wants to do business, he can do so without disturbing others. I have started a Facebook on this yarl restaurant noise pollution program. The name of the Facebook is Pencemaran Bunyi di Brickfields. I have written another article on this issue entitled "Serious Noise Pollution in Brickfields" last Sunday (8 September 2013). You can find it at this link http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2951694 I have also written a letter to DBKL and this letter can be found at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2975198
Thanks for taking the trouble to read this letter.

Yours Sincerely,
Hafizul

SERIOUS NOISE POLLUTION IN BRICKFIELDS

Today is Sunday and I am supposed to sleep late but I can't. At 6.20 am I was awakened by the loud noise emanating from the kitchen hood of a nearby restaurant. Just can't afford to sleep anymore. Today (8 September 2013), I lost my self-control and instead of enjoying my beauty sleep, here I am sitting down in front of my computer and writing this article even though I am still very sleepy.

Well, before I proceed any further, I would like to ask my readers these questions? Would any one of you like to be told that you must wake up at a certain hour in the morning (at 5.00 - 6.00 a.m.) irrespective of what time you may sleep the night before every day even on Sundays? Would you mind if you were not allowed to stay in your bedroom from morning until night? You can only go into your bedroom to sleep at night. For months, nine months, this is what I have been suffering. Since January this year, Yarl restaurant (the kitchen hood of this restaurant is shown in the picture below) has been emanating continuous loud noise from morning till around midnight. Once (31st March 2013) it even started operation at about 5.20 am making it impossible for the flat dwellers of Tong Fatt Building, Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad to sleep as the kitchen hood is just opposite their bedroom windows (to be precise No 123-135, Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad - the flats with bedroom windows facing the back of the building). And when did Yarl Restaurant close the night before (30th March 2013)? At 12 midnight. Would you mind if you were allowed to sleep for only 5 hours and 20 minutes and on a Sunday too? I do not know what the rights of an ordinary citizen in Malaysia are but the Lynas case makes me feel that if you were unlucky enough to have some new business operating in your area causing you a lot of inconvenience, the only thing you can do is to buy a new house and move away. If you can't afford a new house, just admit that it's your fate.

I am writing this article on behalf of the Tong Fatt Buidling flat dwellers (Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad) who have been suffering from endless noise since this restaurant started operation in January this year. Prior to that, we enjoyed a peaceful life but this peace is no more. The whole area is polluted with noise and of course there is always curry in the air. This means that if you put out your clothes to dry in the balcony, your clothes would have curry smell on them. And if you were these clothes, you would smell of curry too. How would you like that? The whole building seems to be vibrating with noise and school children can no longer study in their own rooms. They have to stay in the living room with their parents who are watching TV to do their revision in front of the TV. When I was a kid, I used to sit on the balcony to study but this is no longer possible now. If you sit on the balcony to study, it is likely that you will end up deaf. We can't even go into our rooms until around midnight after the restaurant closes. In the mornings, there is a natural alarm clock that makes you jump out of bed when the restaurant turns the kitchen hood on. Just have to pray to God that we won't fall sick because we can't rest in our rooms until around midnight. We can only sleep on the sofa in the living room if we were sick. I just can't imagine what would happen to my mom if she were still alive now. She died of cancer - just imagine how a cancer patient could cope if she can't even sleep in her bedroom without being disturb continuously by the noise from the kitchen hood? One of my neighbors even lost her tenants because they can't bear the noise. Can't blame them. The noise is unbearable. No doubt, the value of the flats would also drop because no one would buy a flat that is polluted with noise. If we have no choice but to stay in the room then we must turn on the CD player loudly to cover the deafening motor noise from the restaurant. As I am typing this article, I have to turn on my CD player. At least the songs can cover up part of the kitchen hood noise.

I have reported the case to the police (sometime in May) but they are not doing anything about it. I lodged a police report again this morning at 6.20 a.m. at the Brickfields police station which I was told is located in Jalan Klang Lama but so far there isn't any news from them. I hope to get some advice from my readers. Who can I report this incident to and what action can be taken against the selfish and irresponsible restaurant owner? This noise is affecting our health terribly. I understand now what it means to have a house but you cannot live in it because your health is threatened. I am beginning to admire the animals in the zoo because they are living in a much more peaceful environment than the flat dwellers of Tong Fatt Building, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

In the photo below you can see the back of Yarl Restaurant and its kitchen hood - where the noise comes from. For more information about yarl restaurant, please click here. If the selfish and irresponsible owner of this restaurant wants to do his business, he can do so as long as he does not interfere with the health and well-being of others. Why sacrifice others for his business? Restaurant Lee Tong Kee next to it has been operating for years without any noise. Restaurant Vogue opens at 10.00 a.m. and closes at 10.00 p.m. It's kitchen hood is facing the kitchen of the flat and therefore doesn't affect anyone. Why is Yarl restaurant a nuisance in the neighbourhood? The major reason is because its operating hours are too long and therefore its victims have no chance of escape. Why should Yarl Restaurant put its kitchen hood right in front of people's bedroom windows and starts making loud, deafening, and continuous noise so early in the morning and late into the night? Please read Part 2 of this article at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2962198 and part 3 at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2975198

You can also visit our Facebook at "Pencemaran Bunyi di Brickfields" and our blog at http://zorro2013questforjustice.blogspot.com/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning (5 October 2013), Yarl restaurant started operation at 6.10 a.m. As usual, I had to jump out of my bed and look for a place where I could sleep without being disturbed by noise in my bedroom but of course there was none. I worked late last night and although I tried to sleep as early as possible knowing that I couldn't sleep when Yarl restaurant turns on the kitchen hood, I could only sleep at 12 midnight. I had no choice but to press two pillows on my earlobes for two hours and tried to sleep because I have a lot of things to settle today and I don't want to feel sleepy the whole day. . I am having painful earlobes now. I also feel guilty for not being able to provide a proper place for my wife and children to sleep (on a Saturday, my children do not go to school and my wife does not work. At 6.10 a.m., when Yarl restaurant turned on the kitchen hood, theyrushed to the living room and slept on the floor). Despite having reported repeatedly to DBKL and still no action is taken, I have lost all my patience and have made up my mind to start a blog and write about human rights in Malaysia. Why human rights? Because my family and I are suffering like dogs being deprived of the most basic human rights.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This morning (Saturday, 12 October 2013), I was awaken once again at 5.55 a.m. by Yarl restaurant's loud and deafening kitchen hood noise. Not only do I have painful earlobes but a stiff neck as well because I had to press two pillows hard on one year whilst the other ear was pressed onto the mattress making it impossible for me to move my head when I sleep. But even though I tried to cover my ears with the pillows and mattress, the loud and deafening noise of the kitchen hood could still be heard clearly. I used to ask my wife not to use the blender at such an early hour in the morning because the loud noise from the blender would disturb the neighbours. Yarl restaurant's kitchen hood noise is much, much, much, much more louder than the blender and at 5.55 a.m. in the morning, when there is pindrop silence everywhere in the neighbourhood, yarl retaurant's kitchen hood noise is indeed a great nuisance to everyone. This is because the kitchen hood noise is waking everyone up irrespective of who they are failing to take into consideration the fact that many people do not work during the weekends and prefer to wake up later than usual. There are also people who work in shifts and do not have to get up that early in the morning. Since this is what is happening to the yarl restaurant victims everyday, it not only shows how selfish and irresponsible yarl restaurant's owner is but is also a gross violation of human rights - depriving the Malaysian citizens the right to sleep. It's time we put a stop to this kind of nuisance so that there will be peace once more in the neighbourhood.
