Dear All Posters,

Minta your advice. I am a newlywed and I earn more than my waifu.

But there is something that I not used to and not sure how to handle it. Whenever I go buy grocery or go on cuti cuti Malaysia with my waifu, I will stop by the biscuit shop to buy some local goodies for us and my family.

She always tumpang with her tons of biscuits and food stuff for my in-law family members and I have to pay for it.

Its a very sensitive issue and I am not rich guy. Is it normal culture to buy food stuff for your in laws everywhere you go? Last trip to Penang, I spend RM300 for her family members.

Wonder how you husbands handle this situation?

Sekinchan so successful !

I heard Sekinchan was a sleepy village from 1920s that floods like 3 times a year now transformed to a bustling local tourist attraction. The 20,000 locals there are into everything.

They started out as a fishing village in Bagan area, today they are big time fish traders, making everything from delicious fish balls to taufu products from their fish catch. They also took advantage of their cheap fish catch to convert the beachside area into seafood restaurant alleys.

Sekinchan had a lot of marshy area because its like a delta near the river Sabak Bernam. Because of communist times, the British segregated the chinese of Hakka, Teochew and Cantonese origins into villages to prevent them from mingling with the communist. Then the villagers attempted to utilize the marshy land for paddy farming. It was perfect as a lot of land and it could be irrigated. They experienced a lot of failure and hardships but now their yield is 4 times better than Kedah's yield !!!!! Reason being they seek help from Taiwan type of rice seeds, use of harvester machines, build lasting concrete roads between paddy fied for easier accesability for their rice harvester, trucks and tractors and a simple irrigation system. They not only planted paddy but corn and fruits as well. Later the rice mill church extra profits by turning them into paddy museum for tourist visits and also selling additional rice merchandise food products.

As for the locals that stayed in the town area, invested into restaurants, home stays for tourist and even the local doctors and pharmacist get business by visiting kampung folk from around the town area.

In the air, the locals buy into tall buildings for swiftlet harvest and farming. This help them earn extra income from the bird nest that would be sold locally but I am not certain if they export them.

Problem is, road accessibility to Sekinchan is pretty bad, roads filled with pot holes and uneven surfaces. Wonder if this is under state or fed government perogative?

Anyways, I am so awed by their success. In the land, sea and air the Sekinchan people beat all odds to be so successful, no wonder it derives its name "village suitable for farming" from chinese. Everybody there is involve in business. I salute them.

Lets discuss, what else you notice? No political and flaming please. And please don't bring up the Jamak, it will be deleted.

Groom Paralyzed at Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

On Dec. 2, Meg Alexander and Brett Greenhill threw a joint bachelor/bachelorette party in Naples, Florida, inviting their loved ones to have a great time and celebrate their upcoming wedding. But after a tragic accident, Greenhill was rushed to the hospital and left paralyzed, unable to speak.

People reports that Greenhill, 39, was playing football with his friends on the beach and decided to go swimming. He reportedly hit his head on a sandbar and had to be pulled from the water. Alexander remembers her fiancé telling her, “I can’t feel anything. Meg, I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I love you so much.”

Greenhill was airlifted to a hospital, where doctors said he was paralyzed from the neck down; he has a 1 percent chance of being able to walk again. “We’re holding on to that 1 percent because if anyone will do it, it’s Brett,” Alexander said. “He’s the hardest-working person you could ever imagine."

The couple had just mailed out invitations to their February wedding, and they were also planning a honeymoon traveling through New Zealand in a camper van. But now things are extremely different for the couple. Greenhill is unable to speak but will regain that ability in the future. For now, Alexander goes through the alphabet letter by letter to help him spell what he wants to say. The first thing he told her was “I love you,” and the second was “Please be patient with me.”

Greenhill’s family and friends have started a GoFundMe account to help pay for his medical expenses; the campaign has raised more than $86,000 so far. They are also planning to start a charity in his name. “Anyone who has met Brett Greenhill, if only for a moment, will tell you how selfless, generous, and genuinely caring he is to everyone he encounters,” the page reads.

“We are going to get married someday, and it’s going to be amazing,” Alexander told 11 Alive. “Plans changed a little but we’ll get there someday.”

What would you do if you kena warning letter?

Ok let say in this circumstance, if you kena warning letter for job related performance. Not disciplinary issue.

And then in the letter it says if you continue to be slow in getting the job done, they not hesitate to issue another warning letter again.

What action would you take?

1) Resign
2) Stay and work harder
3) Stay and look for job

Step (2) & (3) is it a good choice? Because you try your best but they still think you are slow, good chance that they will issue another warning letter. By the way, not sure it takes how many, but maybe 2 warning letter will kena buang kerja. Then the job record tarnish. Next time when look for job, new employer do reference check, look very bad lah.

(1) Sound like good choice, if let say the salary is very low, so low that even 7-Elevan staff earn higher.

I am saying hypothetically lah, not me
From outside look nice. But when we went in to look for eateries, I find them all over the place. They don't seem to be concentrated in one place.

Arrival hall design is very very strange. When I landed, I was on the second floor. Then I had to climb to the 3rd floor before taking a long escalator to descend down all the way to 1st floor. who is the genius who design it?

I saw a big family use the trolleys to push their luggages but because they had to take the long escalator down to 1st floor, they had to take out their luggage and when they reach the 1st floor, they use another trolley

The funny thing was that the airport had so many toilets. A friend of mine told me that the journey to the baggage area was so far..that his elderly mother could go to three toilet stops.

Then when i finally reached the baggage area, which the whole trip took me 20 minutes, I had to wait 30 minutes for my baggage !

I find the design and layout not so user friendly, i still prefer to previous LCCT layout, where we come out to the tarmac to board the plane, not much hassle to come in and out.

What do you guys think?

Have you ever encounter a class reunion?

Ok, 7 people were from your class. Its always been a yearly affair for the past 8 years.

Mr Hoopla - works in UK, comes back every year to organise a gathering
Mr Wings - married an indian national, flies back to india every now and then to take his wife see her family
Mr Sawadeekap - close friend of yours but also close friend to Mr Mars, works in thailand
Mr Man - a successful career person but not so close to the rest, sometime come out
Mr Mars - a popular and likeable person in the class, everbody looks up to him but he doesn't like you
Mr You - You lor
Mr Kam - he works in USA, rarely comes back but occassionaly messages

Mr Hoopla, as you know, comes back to malaysia every year to see his parents but he also takes the occassion to call his close 7 friends to meet out. Year after year the reunion was sort of ok for you.

but it comes after the 6th year, you feel a bit left out..and Mr Mars tends to dominate the conversations and everybody listens to him. But hey thats ok, but you feel that you don't really connect anymore but on individual level, when you call out Mr Hoopla or Mr Sawadeekap, they will come out and have a drink with you and have a nice chat.

Only trouble is, whenever Mr Mars is around, you try to say something, but Mr Mars think that whatever you say is irrelevant. Ok back at school, you used to have a tiff with Mr Mars, Mr Mars is sort of like the cool guy around and he thinks you are too uncool to talk to. Even up to today, you feel sidelined by Mr Mars.

So whenever Mr Hoopla is back, organise a group reunion, would you want to come out? or would you excuse yourself stay at home instead? because you think you would rather not come out for an occassion that you are not involved?

What do you think of this AWACS?

Since USA don't want to sell to us
This is Brazillian plane plus Sweedish radar technology
Sorry no drillz, dunno how to drillz
Plus its probably much cheaper than USA tech

-----------------------------------------

The Embraer R-99 and P-99 are military versions of the ERJ 145 civil regional jet. The R-99 series are equipped with Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofan engines. The military versions provide 20% more thrust than the civil version. The first flight was in 1999.

The R-99A/E-99/EMB 145 AEW&C is an Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft, equipped with the Erieye airborne radar from Saab Microwave Systems (formerly Ericsson Microwave Systems) of Sweden. The FAB claims that it has 95% of the capability of the larger AWACS aircraft which are in service in the air forces of other nations. In 2008 the FAB redesignated the R-99A as the E-99.

The R-99B/R-99/EMB 145 MULTI INTEL is a remote sensing aircraft. It employs a synthetic aperture radar, combination electro-optical and FLIR systems as well as a multi-spectral scanner. The aircraft also possesses signal intelligence and C3I capabilities. In 2008 the FAB redesignated the R-99B as the R-99.

The P-99/EMB 145 MP is the maritime patrol version of the R-99. It shares much of the same sensor suite as the R-99B, but most visibly, lacks the multi-spectral scanner and the side-looking radar. It retains many of the C3I and ELINT capabilities of the R-99B. The P-99 also carries four underwing hardpoints, which can be mounted with a variety of torpedoes and/or anti-ship missiles. Mexico was the launch customer for this variant.

In Brazilian service, the E-99 and R-99 are based in Anapolis AFB. Five E-99s and three R-99s are operated by the Air Force as part of the SIVAM program

Ebola coming !

We having a lot of african students but how through are our medical checks? Is it feasible to check African students coming from West Africa? How to detect? Blood samples take too long to process and infringe their rights.

We mereishia pride our open air mamak outlets and local hawker foods, which african students regularly hang out...high risk of spreading kah? merehsians also like to do things communally...like praying, eating and social.

Ebola has 70% chance of fatality, worst than SARS...some more you die horrible death...your organs kena liquify while u bleed to death...hemoragge to death...

SCARY !

=====================================================================================================

Ebola victims quarantined in Guinea

CONAKRY, Guinea (AP) — Health workers in protective hazmat suits treated patients in quarantine centers on Tuesday in a remote corner of Guinea where Ebola has killed at least 60 people in West Africa's first outbreak of the deadly virus in two decades.

Seven patients are being hospitalized at one isolation ward in Gueckedou in southern Guinea, while two others are being treated elsewhere, said Doctors Without Borders. The aid group said it is sending mobile teams into the surrounding countryside in search of people who may have been exposed since the first cases emerged last week.

"To confine the epidemic, it is critical to trace the entire transmission chain," said Dr. Esther Sterk, a tropical medicine adviser for the medical group. "All individuals who have had contact with patients who may be contaminated are monitored and isolated at the first sign of infection."

Six of the seven blood samples sent to France from Guinea had tested positive for Ebola, specifically the Zaire strain of the disease originating from Congo which has up to a 90 percent fatality rate, the World Health Organization said Tuesday.

Ebola has no vaccine or specific treatment. Its initial symptoms — high fever, weakness and headache — can mimic malaria, a much more common disease in West Africa. Once the virus has caused hemorrhaging, though, victims can start vomiting blood or bleeding from their nose and gums.

Some 1,500 of the 2,220 cases recorded since the virus was first discovered in 1976 have been fatal, experts say. So far the fatality rate in Guinea has been 70 percent, according to Dr. Sakoba Keita, a spokesman with the health ministry.

Those grim statistics are fueling fear amid the first outbreak in this part of West Africa in 20 years. So far at least 60 people have died in Guinea, a desperately poor country with limited health facilities, Keita said.

The outbreak has raised alarm in neighboring countries. Across the border in Liberia, officials are already investigating eight cases — including five deaths — suspected of having links to the Guinea cases. Those patients traveled across the border into Liberia in search of medical treatment, health officials said there.

Authorities in Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast say they are closely monitoring along their borders for possible cases.

The last case reported in West Africa was in Ivory Coast back in 1994. More recent outbreaks have emerged in Congo and Uganda.

It is unclear why the virus has now emerged in Guinea though Dr. Armand Sprecher, a public health specialist with Doctors Without Borders, said the virus is carried by bats in the region.

"It comes out of its reservoir when people eat bats or when bats share a tree with chimps or gorillas who are eating fruit," he explained. "The chimps and gorillas become sick and become easy targets for bush meat hunters."

Grieving relatives also can contract the virus when they come into contact with the bodies of victims during communal funerals, health officials say. Other victims have included health workers who treated the patients before the Ebola outbreak was identified.
I wonder why nowadays pipu who own protons, kancils > 10 years, don't bother to repaint their cars.

Sometime I see the car rust so badly until roof got holes, they use duct tape to seal it.

Is it because of high car prices most of us can;t afford to change cars until drive old rust buckets.

DBKL pipu, bad service and very rude.

Yesterday night, have go to thru massive traffic jam, by then reach near Jalan Mahameru because of landslide, saw a lot of sign block us cars from going further. Have to U-turn...then saw some DBKL officers, ask them what the matter? Which better way to reach KL?

They just ignore me, but continue to chat with each other...so rude, no peramah.

Is this how DBKL want to boost their shitty service to us citizens? Some more want to raise our KL assessment rates to increase level of service. The DBKL people service macam berak standard, I don't want to pay higher assessment fee for their bad service.

Also the other day, I went to DBKL office to renew liquor license for my company...i went to the counter, this lady so rude..after I finish submit my application, she whisper to me (without looking at me), "Cepatbagi saya submission tu..saya nak cepat pergi makan". Bugger, so rude service, even KFC staff can provide better service.
