Salary of boss/taukeh of a small medium business?

Just curious. How much do the bosses of Small-Medium size companies in Malaysia earns? 20-30k per month? 100k per month? Referring to the typical non-listed Chinaman company.

Reason is I have a great idea for a start-up and have formed a functional team to make it work. But to commit being a entrepreneur full time, I have to forsake a great paying current job. That's my dilemma. My superiors few ranks above me are in cushy positions with salaries well into the 5 figures per month region. I see it being very possible to reach those positions in the short term future, and that's not even the limit one can achieve in that company.

I see myself working equally hard (or way harder) if I were to venture out. I don't see myself able to goyang kaki once I am a taukeh.

Is it my dream or am I passionate to be the founder of a successful company? Potentially. If being a boss means lagging behind, or having the same, earning potential of being an employee even after 10-15 years... Then, I'm more realistic than passionate.

I know being an entrepreneur is more fulfilling. It is also way more risky. When it comes down to it, how lucrative is it? How much do you or your bosses earn? Would you make the jump? What does it take for one to leave a stable job to become an entrepreneur?
